tv CNN Tonight With Don Lemon CNN November 10, 2017 11:00pm-12:00am PST
knew his importance, but since he was not around anymore, it became more convenient to let others steal the story. >> sunday, anthony bour dane is going to present jerimiah tow wer, the last mag nif cent. don lemon, it is just a little >> tonight we will will discuss roy moore who was accused of abusing a 14-year-old girl in 1979 and he was 3 #. >> i don't know her from anybody. i have never talked to her, and never had contact with her, and i believe that these allegations
are politically motivated and to stop a very successful campaign, and that is what they are doing. i have never known this woman or anything. >> and roy moore is also alleged to back then to have pursued dates with other teenaged girls at 16, 17, 18 at the time, amend all above the age of consent in alabama. but listen to how he responded when asked this question by shawn hannity. >> at that time of your life, and let me ask you this, you do remember these girl, and so would it be unusual for you as a 32-year-old guy to have dated a young girl as young as 17, and that would be, what, a 15-year difference? do you remember dating girls that young at that time? >> generally, no. i won't dispute anything, but i don't remember anything at that time. >> and so that is an interesting way to say no. and let's put the story in
contexta and little bit more to talk about because only roy moore and lee corfman know the truth. and what i do know is how difficult it is for survivors of sexual abuse to come forward the stories. so let me ask you about this story f a 32-year-old man was calling your 14-year-old daughter on the phone, what would you do? if she told you that he picked her up around the corner away from your home, how would you react? and then if she told you that he drove her to the home into woods and told her she was pretty and kissed her? what would you think. and if she said that they met again and pulled off their clothes down to the underwear, and she touched him and he touched her, would you be upset? if after she told you that and she told other people and then you confronted him, and he
denied it, who would you believe it? look, nobody likes to hearing or reading such detail, because it is really disturbing, but that is what lee corfman says happened to her. roy moore and the supporters deny it, but as we heard at the top of the show, he did not categorically deny dating minors. he said that they will lie, cheat and harm if they believe it will shut down con ser serva like himself, and his brother went on to say that he is being persecuted just like jesus was. and then this one, where joseph was a carpenter and mary was a
teenager, and they became parents of jesus. there's just nothing immoral or illegal here. maybe just that. the statute of limitations is gone, and so we are left with one last question, who do you belie believe? so let's discuss these allegations of judge roy moore, and also, the judge who represents the center for justice. and so i have to ask you, trenton, you are expecting lit h gags against the "washington post" about other allegation, and why would lee corfman and the other accusers make up a story like this? >> hey, man, it is great to be on here, don. i appreciate it. i hope to give you the name don easy pe peasy and you will take
easy on me. and the prior misrepresentations of the foundation of the immoral conduct, and not necessarily the accusations today. i represent kayla moore and the thing is that i have known roy my whole life and believe there is no other man, and i am glad to be here, and glad to process that. >> i am sorry that you thought, that and my understanding is that you came on to the talk about the roy moore story from the "washington post." >> yes sh, you need to refer ba to what the campaign has said, but i have known roy moore for my whole life and i trust him, and i know no better man, and so defending the foundation of moral law and the way it has operated and advancing truth as
far as the foundation's perspective on moral law, and the importance of ensuring that a jury is allowed to hear some of the allegations made about how the foundation has been conducted is what i have spoken with chief about and also what i have spoken with kayla about. that is what we sent a recanting letter over to the "washington post" on, and we have not received a response. >> and have you spoken with roy moore today? >> i have spoken with him twice today today. >> spoken with him twice. >> i don't have control of the monitor. and no one here in the studio does. >> okay. so, sure, i spoke with him twice to today, and roy is again a family friend and love roy and highly respect roy and i have a 5-year-old daughter at home in bed, and so if one were to do what is alleged, it would be inappropriate, but roy has come out denying it.
i believe roy. i believe that we have had some wise politicians who have deferred judgment and said if, and others that have not been allowing the process to work its way out, and you, don, you do an excellent job, and i love cnn and a card toting libertarian, but you pull out facts as they arise, and soy believe that as the story continues to unfold on both sides, what you will see is that the momentum gained by roy and see him being elected. this is me as a friend to the family and not as counsel. i am representing right now for the purpose of putting the "washington post" on notice an offer to them to not run the courthouse, but put back out there a recanting of what you have published that was in fact just not accurate or true. that is the -- >> and because we have limited time here, and we will go long, and so just so you know, producers. so i asked a couple of questions
at the top of the show, and i said to you, trenton, and from personal experience i know how hard it is to come forward and no one knows except for lee corfman and judge roy moore what transpire and usually the victims don't make these things up, and come forward and knowing as a child of sexual abuse i did not tell my mother, until i was 30 years old. why would she or any of the women make up these stories? my question at the top of the show was, if you are a father and you have a 5-year-old at home, and if the 5-year-old, and fast forward to the future turned into a 14-year-old, and told you the story that ms. corfman said, would you believe her or the man? >> well, the way the question is postured is unfair to what you are trying to draw out of this. i would say -- >> why is that unfair? >> i would say that roy and e r
every judge that has heard those types of cases or prosecuted on behalf of the victims definitely understand your perspective in what you are saying. so, again, refer back to the campaign's response and it is a four decades' old, and it is a both more than, because people get accused, and it is unspeakable to believe that both go on, and both are true and it is not a either/or and a wise mind that allows for there to be process implemented, and does not knee-jerk, but listens to what unfolds, and there are things that unfold that the campaign is going to allow to unfold. >> and this is why i said specifically at the top of the show -- and what i said specifically is the conversation, and not a monolog monologue. >> yes. >> and what i said is that the statute of limitations has run out, and so there is going to be no judge and jury and no process. the process is that the woman has come forward on the
record -- >> okay. i hear you. but hey, don lemon squeeze si - si -- -- >> my mom did not name me don easy squeezey lemon, just don lemon. >> okay. as someone representing the moral law and kayla moore, we have asked the news outlets to represent both sides of the story. there is out there now the opportunity to report even as it relates to the most recent things a two-sided part of it. one of which includes corfman at the time probably being 17 and not 14, but again, the judge has adamantly denied it. i believe the judge of four-decade-long wait is unfortunate. but the truth is that there are
both and. both false accusers and the victims of child molestation. and god forbid this continue in a world, and unfortunately, we live in a very fallen world and so i seek to advocate truth and righteous ne righteousness, and so i believe that the righteous thing to do at this point in time is to allow the process to work its way out, and judge moore -- >> but that is my question, trenton and forgive me for jumping in here, and that is what i asked you two minutes ago what is the process, and i have told glue the statute of olimitations has run out, and so what is the process? >> the process, and that is again, it is inaccurate. >> what is inaccurate? >> it is the process of judge moore moving forward with the campaign and you have to talk to his campaign. >> and no, specific, i will, hold on, you said that is inak rashgts and what is inaccurate -- that the statute of limitations has run out, that is inaccurate?
>> no, you are asking me for a legal opinion in an issue that i have not been told or brought on for. >> and so let me say that the process is playing out, and what is the process. that is what i want to know. >> i got you, but where the process is here both sides reporting, and the judge continuing with the candidate and elected -- >> and so, just a minute, you mean the political process -- >> and no, don, i am talking. >> and the political process is that what you are talking about -- >> and false accusers to do this and now reports coming out that she was not 14 and was 17, and a history -- >> and do you think that -- >> and there is false accusations against pastors and people in the past. so there are both and. both false accusers and victims and for you to contextualize this as just a victim's story is not within the lines. and so the judge is asking you to do your job and draw out the
facts here -- >> and you have said a lot here, and if you are going to slow down, and we can talk and have a conversation. >> and i am talking and back and forth and enjoying this. >> and the part of the process, and you are meaning the political process and not the legal process? >> i am talking about right now, but you and the reporters that are covering stories like this are working at the process, number one, and then the political process and i have said again and again and again judge moore is going to be elected on december 12th, but you have to get with his campaign about that. i recorded the telephone conversation that i had with cnn earlier and i was asked to come on to talk about the foundation of moral law and kayla moore and the accusation of the "washington post." and y'all get me on here and you change the scheme of it, and that is totally okay, but it is a both and. both false accusers and people who molest children. >> i am sorry for that.
>> and i stand by judge moore and i fully believe him when he said that he did not do that. i fully believe him as 100, and i believe that the story as the facts develop, that lady is 17 and not 14, and -- >> so, you -- >> and i am still talking. >> and number one, you talking, but you not answered the question, and i said is it a political question or -- >> i think that i gave a answer that you did not prefer. >> and so when you say the process to work out -- are you talk about a political process or the legal process? >> i am talking about the process of the news media reporting on the phone conversation that i had earlier with jeff your producer was supposed to be. >> and it is my understanding that my producer said that they wanted to talk to you about this particular story, and that we would also discuss the other story. >> i have it recorded, and because i am in florida, it is
disclosed and you need to talk to the campaign. the judge has denied it and the facts indicate as they are coming out now, and the only alleged victim in this situation, and again, both/and. it is horrendous if somebody against their consent has something like that happen, and the objective reporters object that she is 17 and not 14 and and false accusations in the case, and thousands of dollars have been offered to people to bear witness falsely against the judge and -- >> you have said that three or four times. >> i am telling you -- >> and you said it for flee or four times and you have to let me get in here. and you have to respond to the questions. and you have said the exact same thing three or four time, and so, again, it is not a monologue. >> you must not be hearing me. >> and my question is now, if that is indeed the case, you can better believe that the news media -- >> it is not a question. but you are framing it. >> and if you will let me finish, i can ask you the
question. >> okay. don. >> and you said that she is 17 and not 14, and that she has other allegations that she made up. okay. so where is that information and where are you getting that from? >> again, let me respond to each segment of it. and number one, i said that there is out there an investigative opportunity for people to discover whether she was 17 or 14, and again, the door is closed as it relates to roy, chief justice roy moore and his denial of it. he says it did not happen. but if in fact she lied about the age at the time, and just like she has lied in the past, and what it does is -- >> how do you know that she has lied there in the past and do you have concrete information that -- >> i am still talking, man. >> and again, you have said the same thing and this the fifth time that you have said the same thing and i'm asking you for the proof and the evidence. >> it is just different, don.
i got it. >> and the proof and the evidence, and get that information and move on or discuss it. you are saying that it is out there and just you saying that it is out there does not prove anything. >> i get you, man. and my point here, don, it actually diminishes if these allegations are false people who are really victims. i get that, man, but it is a both and, and the foundation for moral law and kayla moore have been slander ed ed by the "washington post" and that is why i am on here, and no doubt, because we have written proof and confirmation of it, and the process itself as it relates to the foundation, and you to talk to the campaign about chief justice moore, but the process itself and i am asking for you and other news outlets to be objective and here we have given the alabama immediamedia group,e "washington post" and one of the political organizations the opportunity to recant the false reporting prior to this coming out related to the foundation, and related to kayla and even
related to chief justice. i will be talking to my law partner flint lidden and what it would look like to move forward to filing suit. and these people don't run to the courthouse. i have been trying to convince them since 2015 to file a lawsuit over all of the slanderous accusations out there against them, and they keep telling me, no, no, because these are good people. so it is a both and. both people falsely accused and i have seen it time and time again and i have been around the legal practice my entire life and 38 years old and around 20 and i have been practicing for 106789 i have seen false accusers and i have, you would be surprised and also, victims. and i have helped to prosecute people who have been victim, and also perjury at trials. and he has dedicated the career -- >> and i have one more question. >> so i am encouraging you to
process that out in an objective way rather than misrepresent them and get something on the television show when i have a recorded phone call when i was told that it is abouta and b and not c. >> and now, you have talked about the issue that you don't want to talk about and you have talked about it for two minutes. >> i was asked to come on, and thank you, don, and i enjoy the process. i am sorry if you are offended that i called you don lemon squeezey. >> and i am sorry, that i would not call you some other name other than yours. >> okay. i am sorry. it could be actually an encouraging thing, but go ahead. >> and i will ask you this, and if you want others to believe that maybe she ist not telling the truth, and there is something wrong with her story, and so i will ask you what if she did, and what if she is
right, and what if she is telling the truth? what do you think should happen? >> here's what i think should happen. the foundation for moral law and kayla moore should proceed with testing the allegations that have been made against them and uncovering the lies that have been made about the foundation. and i think that the voters should focus on the issues and not allow for what could be and i think is a tactic to distract from whether the constitution and whether the declaration of independence are going to be advocated for in washington. so again, both things, a kuzers that are false and victims. and roy -- >> and what do you think that -- >> and roy has spent his life advocating for victims and ensuring that truth is uncovered so i encourage people -- >> okay. thank you. >> and i encourage people to focus on the issues on december
12th and not the side bars. >> you did not answer my question. are you going to answer the question? >> it is an incredible question to ask. i didn't understand it. >> and if she is telling the truth, what should happy to roy moore? >> sure. if who is telling the truth? >> if ms. corfman is telling the truth? >> well, in an objective setting if someone is telling the truth in that situation, the process would bear itself out, and i don't know the question that you are asking me as far as intent, but -- >> my question is very direct. if she is telling the truth, and she was 14 and he was 32 and he sexual ly assaulted her, it is very clear that is my question. what should happy to him? i think that -- >> this is my response to you, if she is not telling the truth, what should happen? >> that is not my question. >> i understand what you are saying, and any objective setting if someone is molested there is an opportunity to evaluate that. if someone is falsely accused, there should be an opportunity
to evaluate that. and chief justice roy moore has adamantly denied. he has a 40-year stint between this accusation and here it is less than a month before the election, and in my opinion this is yet another distraction that has been thrown up. it as the facts come out, and which i pray that you will report on to include prior false accusations made by her, and again, it is a both and, false accusers and victims and you have the take both of those trails. >> and okay, you have said it about false accusations a number of times with no proof. >> sure. >> and just remember, that there is a lot of praying to go around in this situation. and i have to go. >> and no, the case to the jury, but the proof is out there and you are have to research it out. and again, i was told be coming here to talk about the foundation of moral law -- >> this is the seventh time saying that, and thank you, trenton garman for being here. >> thank you.

what we reported today. there was even discussions about a private jet that would take him to an island in turkey as well. and, you know, we have been hearing about this for a while, and the fbi has been asking about it, and now we have enough people to report this for the first time online in "the wall street journal," and in the paper tomorrow. >> and james, you know, flynn's lawyers responded tonight and they said that out of the respect of the various investigations of the 2016 campaign, we have been avoiding answersing to every allegation, but today's news cycle has brought out claims of kidnapping and bribery, we are saying that ri so outrageous and prejudicial that we are making an exception

he was running a possibly sleeper ring, and radical muslim and it looked like he was preparing the ground to do something extra illegal, and first of all we know that the justice department had rejected repeatedly the attempts by t ss erdogan regime to not provide enough evidence that he should be extradited for the case. what else do you have left to do? and then we have reports, and we have several people who have talked to the fbi that there was talk of $15 million. how were they going to get him back? obviously, it is an extraordinary claim. i admit it. we spent a long time looking at, this and this is -- and we have come to the conclusion at the very least the fbi is investigating sfwlcht and we will be watching for additional reports.

election date. it is interesting timing, right? >> yes, and before if you are scrolling down, you will see that four months later the edit editors of "the hill" this guy was lobbying for the turkish government and didn't declare it, and wrote this article. and so it is getting back to mueller basically pushing the walls in on the trump circle, and what he is getting at essentially is a lot of conflicting interests, and a lot of, a lot of unclear webs of, you know, conflicts of interests and in some ways go to the very top, to the very center of the trump organization, and trump administration, and this is just that he is getting at the kind of the low-hanging fruit, and the most glaring example, but this is not the only person in trump's orbit who has a conflict of interest. >> and so mueller looking into the meetings, what does it tell
you about the investigation and where it is going, philip? >> it is straight forward. when you start the investigation, you start at the outside and talk to the lower level people to determine what they know about the higher level people. when you go into the more senior people in the white house, and for example, conversations with the individuals that mueller is going to be speaking to in the next week or two, and you will have a volume of information and like phone and e-mails and interview s wi interviews with the lower level officials. and the bottom line here is that the mueller team has proven that as they are going into the senior level conversation, and if those senior level people don't tell the truth, they will bring down a federal violation for lying to the the government. if i were in the white house, that is what i would be worried about and not only do i know about the president, but if i don't tell the truth, will mueller bring a charge of lying to the federal government, and he will. he has already done it. >> and that is the other thing that we are seeing, and sorry to jump in here, but that is the other thing that we are seeing
from the preliminary results of mueller's work is that it has not been so far been about collusion with the kremlin, but it is about basic conflict of interests, and krumgs, and financial crimes, and -- corruption and financial krirnls and objection of justice, and that is the chatter around the investigation for months. it is very hard to prove collusion, but mostly likely where this administration and the people around it could get in trouble is financial crime, and obstruction of justice as phil said and lying to federal investigators. >> and when you have a special investigat investigator, that is what happens, you never know where he or she will come. and when we come back, alabama senator candidate roy moore is denying allegations of sexual
