donald trump's scorched earth strategy against hillary clinton. trump is holding nothing back, going after both bill and hillary clinton. just this week on hannity, trump called out bill clinton over his controversies with women, including an accusation of rape. mrs. clinton was asked about that. >> do you ever feel compelled to defend your honor, the honor of your husband? >> no. >> with statements that he is making that go to the core of the relationship? >> no. not at all. i know that that's exactly what he is fishing for and, you know, i'm not going to be responding. >> but will her nonresponse strategy work? remember, trying to stay above the fray didn't work for trump's other g.o.p. opponents. joining us now to analyze from washington ned ryan the republican strategist and here in new york democratic strategist bernard whitman.
5:24 pm
is this a smart strategy to take the high road for now against donald trump? >> well, here's the thing. first of all she has to put away bernie sanders but, you know, looking at donald trump, i have to say as republicans, regardless of what you think of donald trump and who he is and what he says and it's refreshing as a republican to see somebody, see a republican on attack, not defending, not making excuses but a full-fledged ears back attack. i think it's been very interesting to see over the last week that he has made it very clear that everything is on the table. everything will be on the table. there will be no holds barred and i think this is going to be problematic for hillary as she pivots toward the general. she is not the greatest candidate. let's face it she is not bill clinton. she has feet of clay. >> she herself will tell you i'm not the politician that my husband is. >> exactly. i think the fact that donald trump will attack from every different angle i think eventually it will get to her and throw her off. it's a good strategy. never defend always attack. >> hillary at what point
5:25 pm
will she turn? got a ton of money to go negative. when does this happen. >> this is undoubtedly going to be the most negative nasty campaign in history which is saying a lot. i give huge advantage to hillary and here is why. none of the new information. whereas donald trump donald trump. today we shouldn't should let people carry around loaded guns in churches and synagogues and schools. what kind of country would we be? some nasty thing about women. give nuclear weapons to south korea and japan. this is a gift that keeps on giving. >> what's happening, bartender? his numbers -- bernard? his numbers keep on giving. mccain comment or reporter for the "new york times." that's it? >> i give him credit for that he has been able to consolidate the party and i believe by june 15th when bernie sanders is out and hillary clinton.

>> here's the thing. going back to republican voters. somehow voting for hillary, i think what's becoming more and more crystallized especially with donald trump releasing his list of potential supreme court justice, people are realizing this election is going to be about the supreme court. it's going to be about obamacare. i think as more and more people get closer to the general, some of these people that are saying we will never vote for trump, guess what, i bet 90% of them will vote for donald trump. >> bernard, fox news poll had donald trump leading with white women. donald trump is running against a white woman. >> absolutely. you know what? the average of the last six presidents who have won, 39% have -- whites have voted. we typically in the democratic party have a problem with whites. you know what? 84% of people of color are supporting hillary clinton. it is almost mathematically impossible for donald trump to be able to achieve enough support muck whites, 53% right now, mitt romney got 57% of white votes. he needs like 65% of white votes. >> is he doing better with

thanks for staying with us for this special edition of the factor election 2016. i'm eric bolling in for bill o'reilly. and in the factor flashback segment tonight, donald trump entered the no spin zone. bill spoke with him about a range of issues beginning with his choice for a vice presidential running mate. >> the associated press is reporting trump has narrowed potential vps to five. all experienced politicians. not ruling out chris christie. is that an accurate report? >> well, i like chris a lot. i'm not going to say ruling in or out. i would say that i have in mind five different people. i think they are excellent. i will announce whoever it will be at the convention. >> can you give me one? >> i would love to give you all five but i can't, bill. i won't do that bill. >> you are in charge. >> not even fair to you. not fair to you. >> of course it's fair to me. it's fair to my viewers. it's fair to me. you are in charge.

5:45 pm
very hard. >> why is she doing that? >> i had no choice but to do that. >> would you do you think she is taking the time to tweet bad things about you? >> because she sees polls that i'm going to beat hillary and she would like to make sure the democrats win. but she sees polls that i'm going to beat hillary. a lot of -- you know, there are a lot of polls taken by individual people that show me beating hillary fairly easily. she doesn't want that to happen. now, i have never seen -- she went on a twitter rant that was sort of amazing. so i tweeted a few things and that was the end of that i haven't heard from her since. >> i have a question from a viewer, diane ranke from silver spring, maryland. donald trump says is he pro-life, please ask him to name one specific thing he would do to protect the sanctity of human life. can you? >> well, i think that what we are doing and i think it's a very important element in what i have done, i have become pro-life. i was in a meek fashion
