>> what happened to there is no white america, there is no black america, there's just america? we know the risk you are taking. we say thank you to every police officer and law enforcement agent when they are out tonight. when they come to save your life, they don't ask if you are black or white. they just come to save you. >> blue lives matter in america. >> these are self evident to me in which i practice. they are the truth that donald trump understands and supports. >> we cannot go down this road any more. we need to stop. we need donald trump to fix this. we have a choice in november. we can go for hillary clinton or we can go for donald trump. >> we would like a commander-in-chief who speaks of winning wars and not merely ending wars. we would like a commander-in-chief who calls the
enemy by its name. a commander-in-chief who draws red lines cautiously but enforces them ruthlessly. it would be nice to have a commander-in-chief who could be trusted to handle classified information. >> my message to you is very clear, wake up, america. >> the time is now, and with donald trump in the white house, we will make america great again. >> i am concerned about our country's future. i believe we need donald trump. >> enough is enough. now is the time to make america safe again. >> let me tell you why i have been on the trump train from the beginning. america is in a bad spot. we need a president who will have our backs. i can tell you this, no matter who you are, donald trump will have your back. >> i am so used to speaking from the heart. not only do leaders have to step
up and support us but the family. those of us in here we are family. we step up and back up them up, too. for my generation that was for you all for the next generation this is for you. your war is here. >> ladies and gentlemen, donald j. trump is ready to serve and lead this country as the next president of the united states. >> god bless our next president, donald trump and god bless the united states of america! usa! >> let's bring in our political panel. welcome fox news contributor and former spokes american for george w. bush mercedes flap wells go pack and strategist david novela. what did you think of the speeches last night? mercedes? ladies first. >> i was on the convention floor. what energy there was in the
room. but there was also a sense of emotion. that came from the everyday americans. the mother of the benghazi, the one who lost her son in bengh i benghazi. marcus luttrell a navy seal. it brought people to tears at the convention? why? because it came from the heart. it wasn't necessarily incredibly scripted. i have to tell you the powerful speech of the night was rudy giuliani. he spoke about race relations and law enforcement and how they are there to help save people in the streets, and also talks about the message of one america. i think that's so important. that's the message donald trump is definitely pushing through this convention. we can't forget of course melania trump her story as an immigrant coming to america talking about hard work and kindness and compassion, talking about her husband as really being one who can do great
things for america. it was such a diverse group of speakers for the first night. it set the stage for what i think is going to be a very powerful and uplifting convention. >> really emotional night. i agree with that, such a powerful moment when he talked about the police officer, doesn't matter what religion or color they are, they go out and protect. >> not once has rudy giuliani spoken at a republican convention and not have people on their feet. he's a fantastic communicator. he knows what we need to do to keep america safe and he was an outstanding choice to have speak last night. i will say this as well. if you are looking for the one reason most people support donald trump, willie robertson said it, they are looking for someone to have their back. for too often the government has done more to be on people's backs in a harmful way. they are looking for someone to have their back to help lift them up. trump with his policies are going to do that, getting
america safe not only economically but also our personal safety. as mercedes said, we would be remised if we didn't talk about melania doing a great job and opening the door for people who might have been for trump but didn't know who he was really like. she gave some insight. folks are excited to hear ivanka and the two sons because they are going to give more insight to what donald trump is like. >> tiffany is speaking tonight. we have never heard from her at all. >> same with melania trump, a lot of people had not heard from her. hillary clinton was a target for a lot of the speakers. specifically want to talk about what general michael flynn has said. he called saying i have called for hillary clinton to drop out of the race because she put our nation's security at ex tremly high risk for the use of the private e-mail server. if i attempted to do what she
did, i would be in jail. >> hillary clinton is the easiest target for the republicans, just what we have seen with the private e-mail scandal, obviously the comments james comey the fbu director made regarding hillary clinton about being extremely careless. it talks about hillary clinton's misjudgment. can she be trusted with classified information when the mere fact of what she did was out of pure convenience and gross negligence. i think for the republican party they are saying, send ago clear message to the americans saying we cannot go in this direction. hillary clinton is unfit to be president. she will not keep america safe. do we really want a third term obama term presidency, because she is part of a failed foreign policy that president obama has pushed forward in the past 7 and a half years. >> there was a real focus last night on our military. a lot of messages from our
veterans. >> it was a good night for communicating that message. we are thinking about having our convention this week and next week. after the two conventions the fundamentals are the same. can donald trump convince voters to tais a risk from him. we don't know what we are going to get out of a trump presidency verses making a bad voice for hillary clinton. we started hearing that last night with the military focus, we know from the decisions she has made so far and the fact that she is saying she wants to continue the policies of the last seven years which americans decidedly do not want to continue. she is a bad choice for america. that is what the election comes down to. do you want more of what we have had the last seven years. >> david mercedes, thank you for waking up for us.
>> voters will have to answer that. we want to hear from you. what do you think? who gave the best speech of the night. >> we will p -- send those we will read those a little later in the show. never trump delegates making a loud effort, short lived, to dump the presumptive nominee. >> those who oppose shall say no. >> they have been elected to this convention. >> tempers were flaring on the convention floor as protests kickoff outside with open carry activists refusing to leave their guns at home. >> we have more on how this all shaped out with rich moore. >> good morning, heather and abby. this convention started in a manner fitting this campaign season and this election season.
there was a bit of a controversy between the pro trump and anti trump. they were allowing those delegates on the first round to vote for whom ever they want to in an effort to try to derail the trump nomination. >> the motion to reconsider is laid upon the table. >> donald trump will have the delegates necessary to officially become the republican party's nominee's president. >> mccarthy discussing all of this. says despite the protests any anti trump movement, the election of mike pence as his running mate indiana governor tries to bring together the party. >> you always have a little of that. i think the time is now to unite. i talked to a number of members
that weren't there yet and after the selection of mike pence said they are there. i think coming out of this week you will see a lot of uniting of the republican party. >> with the beginning of the convention also began the protests. we were out among the pro pest testers yesterday. there was a sizable anti trump rally, but there was pro jump folks shooting them down. there were protestors protesting a number of things. moving forward, there has been a concern about ohio's open carry law. you are allowed to carry your firearm in the state of ohio without a license. it is a law here. there was an appeal to the police union the governor and police department trying to restrict that and suspend the open carry. the governor saying you can't do that. it's a second amendment right and it is within state law. you can carry and there are plenty of folks doing so around
