alert. u.s. officials have confirmed to fox news that north korea has launched a multi-stage rocket and we also learned the launch failed. the u.s. official tells fox that it broke up between 90 seconds to two minutes aft launching and may have landed somewhere in the ocean. north korea announced it last month and said it was sending a weather celebrate into space to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the birth of the regime's founder. it has been viewed as nothing more as a test run by the regime of hits long-range missile technology. they are standing by on the phone tonight from north korea. craig. >> the much-hyped launch by north korea appears to have end in failure. multiple sources in the south koreaian government, the japanese government, the united states government saying it got off the ground but apparently in

between the stages of the first and second elements of the rocket, something went wrong off the coast of south korea. it broke up into several pieces according to government source necessary south korea and japan, debris falling into the sea. we are in pyongyang right now in north korea, and, in fact, north crowa is mum on the topic. we have been pressing officials here for some kind of response, and apparently they are still wait to go figure out how to formulate a response, how to spin this. in the past, rocket launches have been aimed putting something orbital into space have failed, and they claim that it is -- it succeeded. we expect them today to put some kind of similar spin on it but nothing yet. it comes at a time of great importance for north korea. on sunday, the 100th anniversary of the birth of their founder. this would put a bit of a damper
9:02 pm
on the celebration so you can imagine the government here, the regime is looking hard to come up with an answer as to how to actually shape it. again, the word is on the second day of the launch window the rocket went up about 150 miles from where we are in pyongyang, but it didn't get too far according to multiple sources but still, not yet confirmed, and maybe never to be confirmed by north korea. >> thanks, craig. we will continue to monitor the situation. we will update you when we have more information. also tonight the obama administration is in a damage control mode after a prominent democrat with close ties to the white house chastised mitt romney's wife, ann, for being a stay at home home. the comment was made by hillary rosen, who has close ties to the president. >> mitt romney is running around the country my wife tells me
9:03 pm
what women care about is economic issue. when i listen to my wife, that's what i'm hearing. guess what, his wife has never actually had worked a day in her life. she's never really dealt with the kind of economic issues that a majority of the women in this country are facing in terms of how do we feed our kids, how do we send them to school and how do we -- why do we worry about their future. >> i can't think of a morphining comment to make about mothers who forego a career to stay at home and raise their children. now after mounting political pressure, finally hillary rosen issued an apology and said her words were only poorly chosen. that's putting it mildly. earlier this evening president obama finally disdistanced himself from the remarks calling them ill-advised. joining me is fox news contributor sarah palin. before we get to that, which is just insane, north korea, we knew this was coming. it seemed like the president, it might have been jimmy carter, they draw a line in the sand,
9:04 pm
had they cross over, draw another line, what are they going to do? >> he threats. he sanctioned when it comes to dealing with other countries, too. it's illustrating our own morein policy is becoming murkier and messier by the day. it's getting people more enthused about figuring out what our foreign policy is in dealing with north korea and others and their threats, and iran, and some desire for possible change in the foreign policy direction. >> how is it that i as a talk show host had a much better idea what would happen with the arab spring in egypt and the rise of radical islamist and the muslim brotherhood and the president gets it completely wrong? >> right. >> he has gotten it completely wrong. he's pressuring israel not to strike against iran even though they are in jeopardy.
9:05 pm
it seems like the world doesn't respect president obama. >> he had his chance with the green revolution that was happening in iran where america could have spoken for those who were speaking freedom and some basic god-given liberties, and obama took a pass on that and yet did interject himself on some other kind of nebulous policy calls of other countries. we've interjected ourselves there why americans are saying why are we so inconsistent with our policy and venges. venges -- our interventions. >> the they keep referring to the republican war against women. the president injects himself into the sandra fluke controversy, gives her a call, highly publicized and then he's presented with a dilemma. and that's bill mauer, who called you very offensive name, attacked your family and children, attacks rick santorum's children, and he
9:06 pm
donates $1 million to the president. has your daughter ever received a phone call from the president? >> never received a phone call but i think that's more of the same of the inconsistencies, the double standards, the deviciveness that is represented by president obama. look at what is going on today with hilary rosen. she, who has the ear of the president, who is advising the democrat party, and making such disrespectful comments about a woman who has made a very honorable choice to stay home and do the toughest job, the most important job there is, and that's raising good kids. >> and she's fought cancer, and she's battled against ms, and she's raised five great kids that are contributing to society. but just think of this phrase. never worked a day in her life. now, i know, i have -- i have my wife, i have many friends and
9:07 pm
their wives. let's see, they have to get the kids off to school, they have to organize their activities, get them to the doctor, get them to the den dentist, get them to do their home work, make them behave or try to get them to behave, get them into bed at night, it's a full-time job. >> the comments hilary made today has awoken a lot of women across the nation. i have gotten lots of e-mails. some finances weren't a factor in their choice to stay home. and the message seems to be why is it that some on the left chews to divide, to insight with comments like that instead of just respecting women's choices and what they want to do with the gifts that god has given them, how they want to contribute. because we all have opportunities to contribute. >> but they got two shots in at one. they got a shot in of the class warfare issue that the president has been hammering home, and then they try to take a shot on
9:08 pm
republicans and women just like in the sandra fluke case and having to deal with the bill mauer controversy, which was ensuing. it seems it backfires. the strategy doesn't seem to be working. >> they are underestimating the wisdom of the people, and the people in this case a lot of moms, a boston lot of women are saying you overplayed your hand on that. let me share with you a quick text my sister sent to me. oh, wait, didn't these people slam you, who are the same ones slamming ann romney because she stayed home with five kids, didn't they slam you for not staying home with your five kids? my sister said it's obviously not a mom thing they are slamming, it's a conservative thing. >> well said. wasn't it said at the time how could you be vice president and be mom at the same time? >> but they have overplayed their hand on that one. very commentary on those who want to invalidate a woman based on the choice she is making whether she is staying home and working her butt off in that
9:09 pm
house or working very hard at home in addition to being able to have a paycheck outside the home. >> it's interesting that conservative women have been subjected to the worst attacks, the most vial names they have been called, and sadly for you at the top of the list, and their voices have been silent, starting with the president who lectures us about the courseness of the language and the lack of civility and the culture, but he never speaks out when it's a conservative woman being attacked. this happens with regularity. >> we don't look to our president to speak for us. we will be silent no more on an issue like this. really, it is -- as i say, it's a sad commentary on this -- this attempt to invalidate a woman for the choices that she's making when really we should be unified. all women should be standing up for each other when you consider what's going on in this country. all women and all races and all ages. we are all suffering under obama's economy, and we need to make changes. >> i thought liberals were pro
9:10 pm
choice? you have to make their choice. >> here's the deal. here's the hypocrisy. they are not for women's choices in equality and respecting a woman's personal values or choices she wants to make unless it has to do with that woman embracing their radical left agenda. >> all right. we will take a break. i want to ask you about mitt romney, the campaign. how you see it as we move forward. we will have much more with governor palin after the break. we continue to monitor breaking news out of north korea after they defied international warnings and they fired a long range rocket. and later george zimmerman made his first court appearance today in the shooting death of trayvon martin. we will explain why a leader of the new black panther party says an army is about to descend on sanford, florida. that and more coming up straight ahead.

the first technology of its kind... mom and dad, i have great news. is now providing answers families need. siemens. answers. >> we continue with former alaskan governor sarah palin. i found this quote. this is barack obama in may of 2008 on "good morning america." watch this as he talks about his wife, michelle. >> the gop, should i be the nominee, i think can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record. if they think that they are going to try to make michelle an issue in this campaign, they
9:15 pm
should be careful because that i find unacceptable. the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family, michelle is the most honest, the best person i know. she is one of the most caring people i know. she loves this country. and for them to try to distort or to play snippets of her remarks that are unflattering to her i think is just low class. and i think most of the american people would think that, as well. whoever is in charge ever the gop needs to think long and hard about the kind of campaign they want to run and i think it's true for everybody, republican or democrat. >> we are trusting the american voters are ready to talk about the issue and not talk about the things that have nothing to do with making people's lives better. >> but i also think these folks
9:16 pm
should lay off my wife. all right. >> why didn't he say that about the attack on governor romney's wife? >> well, that is the perfect sound bite i think that you just showed that shows that double standardism think there's legitimacy in that conversation she had that she's on intelligent woman. it's unfortunate, though, the man she married has been so unserious and so unintelligent when it comes to the policy that is should be implemented to get our country back on the right track. >> let's talk about the campaign. you are convinced romney is it now? do you think it's pretty much over? >> let me put it this way, i don't want newt to drop out. i don't want ron paul to drop out because i want debate still on the ideas that both of the other candidates have been able to espouse and explain to the country. i want ron paul's message about cutting the budget, about the economic woeful times that we are in and what we can do about it, i want those to continue to be discussed and newt has some good ideas, too.
9:17 pm
>> are you convinced, because you spoke about this at an earlier time during the primary, are you convinced, as time has gone on, that governor romney will govern as a solid, strong conservative or do you still have doubts? >> i am convinced that governor romney, if he is our nominee, and if he is elected president, he will know to surround himself with those who inherently know to go right, to err on the side of smaller, smarter government and that gives me comfort. >> you mentioned one name for vp is allen west. i spoke to him since then and told him about your endorsement as a possible choice and he said he would accept, if asked. who else would be the choice for governor romney if he is the nominee? >> there is long list. there is a deep bench. not necessarily do you have to be a politician to be considered a good potential candidate for vp. maybe someone who just knows how to make a payroll and meet a budget and knows how to help
9:18 pm
create jobs in the private sector. someone of that should be considered. >> how about you for energy secretary. >> you know energy is my baby and today we got to work on some energy issues that will air tomorrow night on paying at the pump special for fox. it's another, it's a segment of our economy where we have so much potential. god has just dumped resources under foot. >> next question. how do you fight back against the class warfare, the negativity, the attacks, which i think will define this campaign? i think the president that talked about we aren't a red america, a blue america, we are the united states of america, it will be a very different campaign. what is the best way to fight back? >> we have to fight back. people have got to be aware that america cannot afford four more years of what we are under, what has been done to our great country. that's way we have high
9:19 pm
unemployment, that's why we have outrage he is energy prices that will keep increasing. we have all these problems that have got to be faced as one united america. we have got to get back to the constitution being the blueprint toward that more perfect union. and if we elect constitutional, common sense conservatives -- >> the country will be better off -- >> that understand government is not the answer. >> but you have to fight. >> we have to fight. we cannot retreat. as my dad tells me all the time, sarah, don't retreat, reload. that's what we have to tell the people of america. that's not insighting violence, it's telling people in the arena of ideas and if he ballot box, you reload, you get people in there that understand what the constitution is all about, how to defend our republic. >> governor, always good to see you in new york. >> appreciate it. >> and coming up, we continue to monitor the failed rocket launch in north korea tonight. and still to come, tonight the leader of the new black panther

self-defense we've got to kill. >> joining me with the latest, fox 35 reporter in orlando, ms. butler, and shannon, let's start with you. you are there on the ground. this is a series, starting with a bounty, $10,000, posters, wanted dead or alive. congressmen and women rushing to judgment, making definitive statements without having any facts in, and, of course, the new black panther party using racist and antisemitic remarks. what is the feeling in the community tonight? >> the community want the black panthers stay out of the community. at this point we are tying trying get on with their lives. we asked for the arrest, they got the aleft and they just want to see what happens in the legal process. this is not what sanford needs right now. they are trying to go through a healing process and comments like that just don't sit well here. >> juan, we watched this case.
9:27 pm
we heard the heard the incendiary comments. where is eric holder? are you allowed to put bounties out on people's heads and talk about race wars and there's no consequences? >> i find this sort of like a comic book i am locked in. knew black panther are very small. they aren't worthy of your attention. only reason they exist is to get in front of a tv camera -- i want no part of them. >> wait. this is too important a question. they have been out publicly. there are posters in sanford, can ask shannon. they said they want a bounty, dead or alive, on the head of george zimmerman. they have talk with racial language and slurs and antisemitic language and you are saying to me that this should be ag in order and the attorney general should just allow people to put bounty's on people's
9:28 pm
heads and that's acceptable? >> there are far more right wing nazi people hiding in the woods of idaho by tens of thousands than there are new black panthers. they don't have millions of dollars. they are just full of bluffer and talk and nonsense. >> and what if you are wrong? and what if you are wrong? we going to say why didn't we listen? if you put a bounty on somebody's head, you should be arrested. >> to me, to me, the attention you are giving this group is playing to a stereotype. this is like a minstrel show will ignorant, angry, threatening black people and it doesn't excuse any of the racism involved in the martin case. >> if you put a bounty on somebody's head, and i will throw this out, why don't just say those people who are putting the entire community on edge and creating an environment that is very dangerous, why don't we just arrest them? it's a simple question. >> well, that's absolutely
9:29 pm
right. the fact is it's not choosing eric holder's justice department choosing to isolate the black panthers or the neonazis down in florida. he should isolate both. they are both dangerous. i don't care how big or how small. it is a very sensitive, racial issue down there, and the attorney general should send a signal that neither extremist element is welcome. that the wheels of justice are turning, and that actually we should all look to the example of mississippi -- with ms. fulton, who operated with great desenty and honor throughout this situation and she lost the most in this situation, she lost her son. >> and that goes for the knea nazi groups down there and they are trying to stir up trouble and creating an environment that is not safe for people in sanford and the surrounding areas. let's go back to the case, shannon, if we can for a minute. i scud about this last night. you interviewed the one eyewitness in the case.
9:30 pm
said was there a second eyewitness. both of them now saying that trayvon, they saw, they have now put on record in your interview the case of the one witness that was out that night, that trayvon was beating george zimmerman. that seems to me that that's going to be a very big part of any trial that occurs in this case. would you agree? and what new developments do you have, if any? >> well, you would think. and i certainly think marco omra is going to talk heavily with those against any others who may have that same thought or saw the same thing. today when we got that probable cause affidavit thing -- >> i read it. >> it didn't say anything like that. >> how could that be missing? >> it says very clear from the prosecutor that george zimmerman was the aggressor, that he followed trayvon martin, and it said nothing about what trayvon martin did. they say they have it, but we haven't seen it. >> eventually this is going to have to come out and certainly the defense is going to have
9:31 pm
access to it. i'm not trying to try this case in the media because i've been critical of others, but, you know, juan, there's conflicting stories here. and george zimmerman's father, having spoken to his son, and i interviewed him, said, no, he was walking back to his car when trayvon later in the exchange came up to him and confronted him. he has a broken nose. he has lacerations in the back of his head, and we have two witnesses saying trayvon was on top of him. allen thinks it will be very difficult, unless the facts change, which they could, in getting a conviction in this case. >> well, i think the prosecutor is a professional and appoint bid the governor, and it seems to me she has taken great care in presenting the facts that she knows and saying she's resisting any pressure from outside forces calling for any kind of indictment or. >> i'm not sure i believe that. >> hold on. i just wanted to reiterate something you said, sean. that may have been later in the incident. we don't know what happened when

zimmerman first approached trayvon martin. we don't know what words were exchanged. and we don't know why a man -- >> we only have one side. >> and why man much heavier and holder is engaged in a fight with a young man and you don't know at what point the witness saw it. it could be a glimpse of a larger picture. >> but shannon's interview came from the one person that told police what he saw on that night, which frankly would be consistent with the injuries that occurred. >> let me -- hang on. let me just say this. i talked to jed bush, the former governor of florida, last week, and he said that has nothing to do with this situation. >> i don't think that would, the defense in this case. but that's -- >> i think that's a good -- >> i think that's a good point juan makes about staying your ground law having nothing to do with this case and i'm sick and tired of these political hacks and these racial rack tiers, who are targeting the national rifle
