things. we can do this." jessica rae: even without an official announcement, national polls were showing a good deal of suport for biden's potential run. jessica rae: so how does the news sit with iowa democrats ? the state democratic party chair is saying she's not expecting much of an impact following the v- p's decission. " i don't think it will really change things because we have great candidates that are running and people are very enthusiastic, our democrats are very enthusiastic about those candidates. so, i think we'll have a great evening saturday, even though we don't have our vice president biden." jessica rae: and vermont senator bernie sanders also weighed in on biden's decision not to run. here is what he had to say. " he made a difficult decision based on the needs of his family and his view of his future and i respect the decision that he made. i want to thank joe biden and president obama for the work that they have done over the last 7 years in making very significant improvements to our

economy. obviously we have a long way to go." jessica rae: biden was polling in third behind sanders and frontrunner hillary clinton. jessica rae: and hillary clinton paid tribute to the vice president after he announced he would not run for president on her twitter page, the democratic frontrunner called biden a "good man" and a "great vice president". clinton said she was always inspired by biden's optimism and commitment to change the word for the better. jessica rae: but biden's decision to not run is affecting poll numbers. an abc news/washington post poll released this week showed early democratic caucus voters would favor hillary clinton if biden didn't run. with 64 per-cent of pollers siding with the former secrary of state. 25 per-cent say they'd vote for bernie sanders. jessica rae: speaker john boehner

announced the house will vote for a new speaker by the end of next week but the question remains: who will that be? the leading candidate for the job has just decided he would accept the gavel. but wisconsin congressman paul ryan has several conditions: he wants to make sure he won't have too much time away from his family, and he wants every republican in the house to back him. ryan: we need to do this as a team and it needs to include fixes that ensure we do not experience constant leadership challenges in crises. jessica rae: ryan has given his colleagues until friday to express their support. without full support, the one- time vice presidential nominee says he will remain in his current post as chairman of the ways and means committee. members of the freedom caucus which helped to push out speaker boehner say they have reservations about some of ryan's conditions for taking the job. jessica rae: toyota announced it's recalling six- and-a-half million cars globally to fix power

window switches that can short circuit and catch fire the automaker said the driver's side switches on some models have been found to malfunction if they did not receive enough grease during the manufacturing process. it received 11 reports of burnt door trim, and one report of a customer who burned their hand. the affected cars were produced between 2005 and 2010, and include toyota's yaris, corolla, matrix, camry and several other models. jessica rae: billionaire investor carl icahn ( icon) announced he's spending 150- million dollars to bring businesses back to the u-s. he says american companies are being double taxed when they try to bring their profits back home after having relocating abroad. in an interview with cnn icahn said he's setting up a super-pac to persuade congress to change the corporate tax code. so far, he claims support from at least 40 congress democrats. was back to the future day... the day marty and the future in the and to celebrate... a number of participated in the "million mcfly march" in burbank, california. people gathered for what the 'largest costumed marty history. stephan egli/back to the future fan: i'm a huge fan of time travel in general, so any time travel movie has my interest but definitely i love marty, michael j fox does a great job also the doc you know, it is just so, so great. jessica rae: the million mcfly march raised money for parkinsons research... the illness that back to the future star michael j fox has been battling for years. jessica rae: and even bernie sanders was getting in on the fun of the holiday. the democratic presidential candidate tweeted this picture of him and back to the future star christopher llyod... who is dressed like his character from the film. jessica rae: and "back to the future" day brought with it

the debut of the long-awaited self-lacing sneakers known as nike mags. they were finally introduced amid hoopla that almost felt like a car show. reporter jeannie moos has more on sneakers that hum. "cars... (nats) "nice wheels!" and self lacing shoes... (nats shoe noise) two toys for grownups from back to the future. (nats) "great scott!" though none of them flew... (nats movie sfx) there was a deluge of delorians... (nats) "there's the (nats) "the delorian is still cool." parked outside new york tv studios... (nats) "there was guys under false floor pulled laces from beneath to make them tighten up." 26 years later the dream shoe has come true. (nats) "are those the shoes?" (nats) "these are the nike mags (cheering) nike designer and v-p tinker hatfield sent michael j. fox an illustrated letter saying "although the project started as science fiction, we're now proud to turn that fiction into fact... we wanted you to be the first to receive a living pair." they sure sound like they're alive. (cheering) nike says the new system "senses the wearer's motion." a limited release of nike mags will be auctioned off with proceeds going to the michael j fox foundation for parkinson's research. nike says there will be further testing. no word on when they might be sold to the general public.

expected for an event this weekend honoring local members of the law enforcement community. as part of saturday's briar cliff and morningiside football game, city, county, state and federal officers are being honored at a free tailgate party at olsen stadium. the event begins at 10:30 in the stadium's west parking lot. officers will eat free. there is a small 5 dollar fee for others who attend. a parking shuttle

will run from transit plaza to the stadium begining at 10 a-m three officers will recieve special recognition prior to the football game.. sioux city officers jill fitch and kevin mccormick were both shot in the line of duty and are now back on duty..... meanwhile the family of rockwell city officer jamie buenting will also be honored. officer beunting died in the line of duty in 20-13. jessica rae: and organizers are expecting a large crowd on saturday and encourage people to take advantage of a free shuttle service. shuttles will leave from the transit plaza parking lot, at the corner of transit and vine avenues, every 15 minutes beginning at 10 a-m. that shuttle service runs through 4-30 pm . "as far as parking is concerned there is neighborhood parkign and onstreet parking around, but we are really encouraging people to park at the transit parking area and use the free shuttles . obviously this is a bog rivalry between mornignside and briar cliff so we expect a lot of people to show up," said ann westra of the city of sioux city." jessica rae: kickoff for the mornginside briar

jessica rae: a couple of musketeer fans going through a tough time got a chance to meet players from their favorite team. players from the sioux city hockey team took the time to stop by unity point health saint luke's to meet patients, sign autographs and talk to fans at the hospital. it's something players says is more rewarding than netting a goal on the ice. jacob wilson, sioux city musketeer player says, "i mean it's more than just a hockey game. we're trying to make people feel important, and give back to the community as much as we can." jessica rae: and for patients at the hospital, the drop in by the hockey players was just what the doctor ordered. "i run my days really positive, but this is a nice thing. i just got out of having a test and getting ready for breakfast and all of a sudden these young men come in and they're making right decisions, and it was quite enjoyable and it was fun. i've never had this experience before." jessica rae: you have a couple chances to see the musketeers

richard besser says if you still want a mammogram at 40... insurance will still cover it. "insurance companies are required to cover mammograms starting at age 40, so the american cancer society has a lot of sway with doctors, so doctors may change their recommendations, but it will have no impact on insurance coverage." jessica rae: this is the first time the american cancer society has updated it's recommendations cancer society has updated it's recommendations in 12 years. the new guidelines also say after age 55, mammograms are only needed every other year, if you're healthy. jessica rae: there is a good chance all of us know someone who's gone through breast cancer... and probably someone who's gone through it in their early 40's. that's why the local susan g. komen for the cure organization and a local hospital are teaming up again with sioux city's favorite guys in green... to put the focus on what's behind all the pink you see during the month of october. abc9 news anchor jenna rehnstrom has more in this weeks your

jenna rehnstrom sioux city musketeer forward connor sundquist is focused in these intense daily practice drills. the 18-year-old has a lot going back home in conneticut, too. his mom is going through breast cancer. connor says, "she's awesome, i mean, she's a trooper; she's the strongest person i know. -- she's definitely had a positive attitude the whole time and it really helps us help her." jenna rehnstrom melissa sundquist is a 42-year-old mom of five boys. connor says her health outlook is positive as she wraps up gets ready to start radiation. breast cancer is a journey thousands of women in the the one out of every with it in our lifetime. for that reason, this saturday for the annual pink in the awareness night at the tyson events center. it's an annual favorite for hockey fans and a chance for local medical professional to get the word out about staying on top of your health. dr. james webb, unitypoint clinic, sunnybrook says, "i think it's really helped women understand that there's something

they can do actively for really early detection and then having a better prognosis." jenna rehnstrom early detection like mammograms. even with new recommendations suggesting some women delay initial mammograms until age 45, dr. webb from unitypoint health - st. luke's clinic in sunnybrook, says that's a decision that can be made individually, after a discussion with your doctor. dr. webb says, "i'm still kind of an old school advocate for the screening that i've recommended for 25 years, because the pendulum swings back and forth. i think it's really important for a woman to take charge of her own health and be the expert on her own body." jenna rehnstrom and saturday here at the tyson events center, the seats will be filled with breast cancer survivors... connor's mom will be one of them. cheering on her favorite player... who's clearly her biggest fan, too. connor says, "i mean, she's always in the back of my mind, no matter what i'm doing, but i'll definitely be able to stay focused and it'll just be ni

"tax revenue for the city of norfolk continues to show the impacts of last june's hail storm. at this week's meeting of the norfolk city council, accountant sheila rios said the september sales tax receipts - representing july sales - were down 12-percent from the same time last year. she said the drop is because july of last year saw a spike in retail activity
