" why! why would they do that!" johnston middle schoolers were on the bus ride home ... when police say 61 year old robert scarbrough got upset the victim wouldn't sit in his assigned seat. when the student responds with some strong words .... " the driver ends up striking the student in the face and pushing him in the floor on the bus." a group of kids reported the incident they caught on camera to a puty who happened to be at the next bus stop. the student was treated and

and while you're there why not pick up a few things to make this haunting halloween spread. the first thing you're going to want to do is pick up a couple of cans of refried beans. those get spread on a large platter. on top of that goes a layer of store bought guacamole. now around the edges, we fancy this up with some shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes and a bit of shredded mexican cheese. and while you're at the store make sure you get some sour cream and a can of sliced black olives want to those get sprinkled around the guacamole. now for the fun part, we put some sour cream in a plastic bag, cut the corner and pipe it on top of the spread . creating 4 circles, one within another. then drag a butter knife from the inner circle out .creating what looks like a spider web. and when you serve this at your house, or bring it to a neighborhood party, maybe with a few spooky spiders as a garnish, this is ing to be the talk of the party. i do hope you'll go online and get the recipe for our, "spiderweb spread,"

"beer cans are cracked opened" single can beer restrictions may be coming to businesses that sell adult beverages in the sioux city area as a way to help curb public intoxoxation arrests s d alcohol addictions. "i don't know if that's possible, it's regulated by the state of iowa, but it's something that we've been talking about," says chief doug young. a representative from iowa's alcholic beverages division says sioux city has the right to make the change... as long as it doesn't conflict with the state's ordanince.

"they use zoning to limit sales or to restrict alcohol sales in some neighborhoods. they'll put extra rules in place that they have to sell so many...a certain percentage of their stock will have to be groceries and such," said bailey. frank lamere knows alcoholism is a problem in his community. about half of the people arrested for public intox in sioux city... are native americans. they're followed by caucasions who make up just over 32-percent of arrests. lamere says those efforts get ththball rolling fofo others in the community y get engaged and become aware of the alcohol issues the city faces as they look to get a handle on it. jessica rae: governor branstad has a plan for out-of- state companies to take over iowa's medicaid program. but it's not going smoothly. the latest hiccup is that involves a former state lawmaker. renee schultee is on the one on trial. she's defending

herself against accusations that she may have used inside, confidenditial formation to help get one of those out-of- state companies selected to take over iowa's medicaid. the iowa hospital association has been opposed to the governor's plan from the start and says this trial is only one of many concerns. " greg i think there's a lot of concern about the process that's been pursued and timelines tha thave been pursued, and ultimately whether it's in the bst interest of iowans across the state. " jessica rae: it's important to note branstad's s plan to privatiziz medicaid i inot a done deaea the federal government still has to approve it, but this trial could totally sidetrack everything. we'll keep you posted... as this affects 560- thousand iowans. jessica rae: you may see a new iowa-themed megabus driving around the state. governor branstad helped honor a special, com bus called state," to show have helped the business grow. over the summer, a name-the-bus campaign in each it serves, and

iowans chose the name "the hawkeye state." but the bus doesn't just have a nice new name to brag about. " we're giving people the option for transportation that's clean, safe, affordable, environmentally friendly since we have 81 people on the bus as well." jessica rae: the hawkeye state bus is expected to be put into service soon. jessica rae: a brand new sioux city organization is getting local men involved in community. the first event r a new group who care took place last night. the group will quarter to nominate worthy non-prit groups beneficiary. after a charity is participants write to that group. the result is a without a huge time committment. this round was the warming shelter, a new short-term housing option for people going through hard times. they'll be getting a check for over five-thousand the next 100+ men o care meeting will be the end of january. a family had to in omaha recently after the groom reportedly got cold feet... ...but they decided to have the reception anyway... with a whole new roster of guests. the food was and e family didn't want it to go to waste. so, they turned a negative into a positive, by donating it to a local mission. small town nebraska farmer, leader, and educator, but on monday... he received an incredible honor... an award from the white house. he was one of named a "champion of change" an award honoring men and women for occupational martin was hohored for his dedecation as an educator of sustainable farming in hartington, nebraska. "there's other people like us out there too, they want things to happen... to make things better for the future and i felt very priviledged to be one of those people. what a great time!" says martin kleinschmit, nebraska farmer honored in washington d.c. for his efforts as an educator of sustainable farming. jessica rae: martin has been farming organically for thirty years, but that's not why he recieved his award. in 1996 he started a group with local farmers so together they can learn about t the techniques of stainable farmrmg. he says it just made sense...
