"" lukas: good morning and thanks for joining us , i'm lukas voss in for jessica rae anger over the water crisis in michigan is showing no signs of letting up. the governor is now promising to release emails today that could shed new light on the state's response to the water contamination in flint. he's apologized and pledged more aid... some residents however are still calling for his resignation. abc's elizabeth hur has more. president obama in michigan.. weighing in on the water crisis in flint.. president obama: "if i was a parent up there, i would be beside myself that my kids' health could be at risk." the remarks following this apology from

governor rick snyder. gov. rick snyder / (r) michigan "i'm sorry most of all that i let you down. you deserve better." nats - "...protestors..." these protesters outside the state capitol.. demanding snyder step down or even be arrested. michael pitt / attorney: "they were silent. they were staring at a public health emergency and they sat on it." lawyers representing families from flint.. have now filed three class action lawsuits.. arguing state and city officials should have acted sooner.. according to recently released emails.. officials - in an attempt to save money-- apparently waited nearly 5 months to warn the public of the toxic levels of lead when they changed the city's water source... marcy forsleff / flint resident: "we haven't had our water tested so i'm concerned. we have five kids." in addition to more aid.. the governor pledged greater transparency.. this as the flint mayor mewith president obama. mar karen weaver / (d) flint, mi: "i'm really glad to be here because i know we are going to get more resources." president obama:

"i told her that we're going to have her back and all the people of flint's back? it is a reminder of why we can't shortchange basic services." the governor, in the meantime, says he takes full responsibility and as a first step in being transparent.. he's released more than 270 pages of his emails related to this emergency. eh, abc news, ny lukas: a sioux city man facing murder charges has had his trial postponed... the change comes after attorney's asked judge jeffrey neary for more time to prepare for trial. lukas: 30-year-old schroeder has pleaded not guilty to first- degree murder and other charges his trial..originally scheduled for february 16th has been moved to july 12th. he is being accused of killing 29-year-old dustin wilder at his home in sloan in january 2015. according to court documents, schroeder was with his wife in wilder's home, when he shot him several times. wilder was found later that morning by a dog sitter. lukas:

after finding a crucial piece of evidence, investigators in ames have made an arrest in a hit and run case involving a bus . police are charging 23- year-old benjamin clague of gilbert with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to obey a traffic control device. he allegedly struck and killed 18-year-old emmalee jacobs while driving a cy-ride bus. a recording taken from the bus lead to his aresst. you don't see the impact on video... you do hear the impact from the bus what we believe is striking emmalee turning the corner... ames police are still looking for anyone who may have witnessed the accident and officials from the cy-bus program are hoping to do everything in their power from preventing an incident like this from happening again. lukas: self balancing scooters known as hoverboards will no longer be allowed inside usd's campus dorms. the university calls it a safety precaution. the associate dean of students says, the school reviewed policies after the u-s safety product commision released reviews concerning fire hazards.

"we've only seen a handful of students. it's largely more just looking at the fire safety issues that could be caused by the possible combustion of the battery. we didn't want to take any risks by having our students in resident halls face that kind of a consequence, so that's what prompted the decision," said howe. students still can ride the boards on campus, but the recent ban has had mixed reaction from students. lukas: educators at the university of south dakota are enhancing their "school of business" by adding different elements of other industries into the curriculum the dean of the department doctor venky venkatachalam says u-s-d is utilizing new technology to implement aspects of engineering into their student's education. most recently by purchasing a 3-d- printer. something that should give graduates an edge when it comes to innovation and entreprenurialshi p. fans aren't waiting to buy "star wars" toys: a retail research group says u-s sales topped 700-million dollars last year, making it 2015's top toy property. sales took off on "force friday" in september and never let up... even with the lead character "rey" under-represented on store shelves. lukas and scott chat lukas and scott chat lukas and scott chat lukas and scott chat lukas: tragedy on the campaign trail after a ben carson volunteer died in a van accident on the campaign trail. 25 year old braden joplin of midland texas was part of dr. carson's campaign in iowa. reporter sabrina ahmed got the chance to speak with another young volunteer from joplin during the crash. now, aaron ohnemus, and three others the state for dr. ben carson. tuesday morning, the exhausted crew was headed out into a storm ..to glenwood. 6:52:14 "as we're sleeping, everything's peaceful and

out of a movie, this has got to be pretend right?' aaron and the two others were taken to a nearby hospital. but joplin had to be air lifted to omaha... where he passed away that day. dr carson and his team cancelled that day's events got there as quickly as possible.. they flew his parents up from texas as well. 2:31:01 "bradens mom, bradens family said he loved this and he wanted to help and he was truly inspired to do this and he was really happy." aaron says they spent every waking moment together.. 11:35:12 "when you do that like i did for over 100 hours, i felt like i knew him since kindergarden. even if i only knew him for a week." aaron says he wants people to know who braden really was. 11:53:02 "dr carson said it really well. braden was the most compassionate man i knew." and hopes this can be a lesson for everyone.

clinton was in burlington iowa yesterday. at the event she told supporters .... she's not leaving the state anytime soon. clinton has eight official campaign stops planned between now and february first. lukas: clinton's primary democratic rival seems to be polling favorably as of late, especially against the republican candidates. in a recent head to head poll, vermont senator bernie sanders came out ahead of each of the leading presidential candidateson the repbulican side leading by double digits. lukas: after interviewing all but two candidates, the des moines register has announced they'll be giving their endorsement to a presidential candidate this weekend. the boost in momentum will come from the register's editorl board, donald trump and ted cruz were not interviewed after they declined invitations to des moines. lukas: local government will be the focus when the league of women voters of sioux city holds a legislative town hall on january 23. it runs from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the sioux city
