last night, west of 470. >> reporter: we can see crews getting ready for the commute by adding barricades. clearly they are anticipating this to last for a while. this is a swat standoff that we saw last night and has continued. it started last night before 9 pm as deputies were looking into a welfare check may try to make contact with a man at this location but he fired a gun from the front of his house. one round went off but no one was hit and no one was hurt. a reverse 911 call went to the people in the area and those homes closest to where this is happening the ones evacuated. there was an rtd bus on scene if anyone needed to stay warm. aurora police are working with arapahoe county sheriff's office and it is a suicidal man who barricaded himself inside a home.

jail. don champion. >> reporter: jason dalton faces multiple murder and weapons chargesconnected to a deadly shooting rampage in kalamazoo. officials say that driver targeted his victims at random. mark danon gets chills. >> it is crazy to think this man could have done these things. and came out with a straight face like he is going to work. >> he heard about the killings and got nervous when dalton picked them up in a car that matched the one police are looking for. >> we said hey you are not the guy are you and he said no. >> richard smith and his son tyler were killed car shopping at this dealership. barbara hawthorne was killed at a cracker barrel. >> when this kind of thing strikes, you never expect it to be this close to home. >> the first victim was a woman who was shot multiple times at this apartment complex. she is expected to survive.

beautiful outside this morning. this is the full snow moon. and that will fit as we see snow today. let's check in with our satellite radar. no action yet. we're waiting for the snow to move on in later today. a few clouds across the front range and we do have winter weather advisories in place tomorrow. 48 inches of snow for snow totals and southern mounds, some spots in the sangro de cristo's, over a foot of snow. zooming into parts of the foothills evergreen and douglas county and southern foothills, 6 to 10 inches of snow. a lot of it will be south of i- 70 and on i-70, 48 inches of snow. towards the tunnels, idaho springs, traffic will be tough tomorrow morning. in denver we are not looking at 6 to 10 inches of snow.

the time this wraps up. taking a look at future cast for today, the morning hours are mild. by lunchtime after that the snow is starting to get more widespread and rolling into the snow to ramp up into the evening. in denver eastern plains we may pick up rain throughout the afternoon and into the evening. temperatures day will. tomorrow morning we could wake up to snow for the commute to work. that is when mother nature let's to hit and this clears out. we could the sunshine in the afternoon tomorrow and snow will continue. again it is a fast-moving 30 degrees in denver. right now, 28 in boulder. 16 leadville. 32 in grand junction. highs for today, 49 in denver. 50 boulder. eastern plains. high country in the 30s. again we start off fairly dry and again a chance for rain.

by 9:00 maybe this will turn to a rain snow mix and for the five day forecast tomorrow, snowy side in the upper 30s. wednesday, back to the 40s with sunshine and warm and mild. flashing lights on your screen. i-25 in logan. we have an issue on broadway. this is an accident that involves four cars. northbound broadway at i-25 blocked. it will make it tough for people heading northbound on broadway. usual slowing, these are the normal closures that are typically in place due to construction on the ramp to havana. shawn chitnis has been reporting. hamden and himalaya, shut down at himalaya. use a jewel or quincy as alternates to get around. you can't access across hampton. if you are trying to get to e-

able to do that from hampton. i-70 has reopened with a pilot car. one lane. they will take traffic down this way in the one lane and turn around to pick up the other current head back this way. expect one hour delays. if you are in mind by 9 am you should be okay but full daytime closures, 9 am to 4 pm. instead of highway 131, cdot is suggesting using -- using 131. heading north from silverthorne to steamboat before you head west to craig and south past meeker and back to rifle in the south. the snow is coming out and that is one thing that could hamper operation cdot. be prepared, we could have full closures even when it is supposed to be open tonight. furniture row racing team was this close in the daytona 500. martin truex junior did not

>> reporter: we are noticing in the last 10 to 15 minutes of lot of things coming off. that is something new we have noticed recently. it has been pretty quiet and we have seen the same scene with a lot of police presence here as well and along the street behind me. let's talk about how this started. happening around 9:00 last night. to deputies were trying to respond to a welfare check and they went to a location where there was a man that was listed in that area. he tried to -- he did fire a off. no one was hit in the deputies did not respond fire. a reverse 911 call went out to people in the area. the homes closest were evacuated. and rtd bus was on scene in case anyone needed to stay warm.
