qaeda attacking us and we're talking about fantasy football?"bria n stelter, cnn, new york. a university of iowa poll has dr. ben carson with a slight lead over donald trump among likely republican caucus-goers. 25 percent support carson, while 22 percent favor trump. no other candidates received more than 11 percent support. this poll has a margin of error of 7.4 percent. that poll has democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton holding a strong lead in iowa. more than 52 percent said they support the former secretary of state. 40 percent back vermont senator bernie sanders. this part of the student and faculty-led poll has a margin of error of 7.3 percent. president obama says the u-s
will deploy of about fifty special operations troops to syria, to help in the fight against isis. the white house made that announcement yesterday. officials say ground forces will deploy to northern syria, to assist kurdish and arab forces. president obama previously stated he wanted to keep u-s troops out of that region. reporters questioned white house press secretary josh earnest, about the president's remarks. "jim acosta, cnn sr. white house correspondent: "it would be great if we could have a moment of clarity here and you can acknowledge that yes that this mission is changing that this is not going to be what was said at the onset of this? i just want to..." : "to say that jim would only confuse the situation." " earnest insisted the president was talking about ground troops to get rid of syrian leader bashar al-assad. the white house says this will not be a combat mission. the european union and japan are working to end human rights violations in north korea. they are circulating a draft u-n
condemning the country. the draft encourages the u-n security council to refer north korea to the international criminal court. the associated press got a copy of the draft, which calls on north korea to immediately end all human rights violations, and to close prison camps. the new york mets have won the third game of the world series, but it was a close one. last night, they battled the kansas city royals in a 9-3 game at citi field in kansas city. rookie noah sydegarrd pitched six effective innings, leading to the win. right now, the royals lead in the series two to one. the next game is tonight, and the mets will try to even their losses. as a reminder, we won't have any more televised high school football games on k-c-r-g 9.2. however, 9.2 will be covering high school football playoffs at the u-n-i dome in november. also on k-c-r-g 9.2, the panthers will face off against south dakota today at 1.

the fire. crews are still investigating the cause. check for updates on this story at kcrg dot com. more than a week has passed since the disappearance of an 18-year- old waterloo west high school student. west junior, moe sed, went missing on october 22nd. teachers and students spent a day off from classes this week, to search for him. officials believe he was last seen riding his bike on the 13-hundred block of west fourth street in waterloo. sed is of burmese descent, and there's concern about a language and cultural barrier in trying to find him. liz wagner is one of sed's his health. " 5:20 he left home without his we're worried that he might not be his own. " waterloo police said friday they have organized searches. public safety director dan trelka, said he hopes any community-organized searches will focus on wooded areas on waterloo's
davenport police have arrested a man who police wounded during an incident outside a bar in waterloo. davenport police arrested 28-year-old javon webb on thursday. webb faces several charges, including assault on a peace officer and interference with official acts while armed. the iowa department of public safety says webb struck a police officer with his car outside the new world lounge two on april 5th. on that date, police were handling a fight involving about 40 people in the club's parking lot. webb started to drive away, but police say his car hit the one officer. two other officers fired a total of seven shots into webb's car. webb drove to a hospital to get treatment for gun shot wounds. in august, the attorney general's office determined the officers' actions were justified. waterloo police say someone fired gunshots into a car yesterday. the waterloo cedar falls courier reports people heard gunfire in the area of locust and west third
streets, just before noon. no one was hurt, but two bullets hit the passenger's side of the car. another bullet flattened one of the car's tire. oil was leaking from the engine when police arrived at the scene. a jesup man is in the hospital after falling from a homemade tree stand. the iowa d-n-r says 67-year- old timothy lindquist fell about 20 feet while bow hunting yesterday morning. two other men he was hunting with found him around 11:00. an ambulance took him to a local hospital with chest injuries. a helicopter flew him to u- i-h-c. the dnr did not release his condition. members of the grundy center community are showing off their talents on the big screen. it's part of an effort to bring new life to an old theatre. kcrg tv-nine's sarah mccarthy discovered a packed crowd at a well- known downtown big screen last night. theater." a theater that sometimes

in a t-v nine followup tonight... investigators are questioning whether racism was the motive behind five church fires in st. louis. officials charged 35 year old david lopez- jackson with two counts of arson. he's connected to two church fires, and officials don't yet know his motive. two of the burned churches had predominately black congregation s. this sparked concerns of a racial motive. this morning we're learning a russian plane into egypt's sinai peninsula. officials say none of the and that they were all russian citizens. officials with egypt's aviation agency say the pilot reported technical problems. the plane was headed to st. petersburg, russia. at least two people are dead after dangerous storms rolled through heavily populated areas of texas. possible morning. it's believed a tornado tore the roof
