some sunshine. highs will top out in the upper 30s. winds today will be tame compared to yesterday, out of the north at 5 to 10 mph. the rest of your weekend looks to hold with great weather. monday, however is a different story. a low pressure system will be moving our directioo bringinggrain and a wintryyix. for now, enjoy the weekend and have safe travels. thanks britley. shoppers across iowa are waking up happy this morning, after snaging big deals on black friday. people packed stores all day at the coral ridge mall. on thanksgiving night, shoppers lined up outside the mall's front doors for hours. at 6 a-m, those doors finally opened. economists say nearly 60 percent of americans will do their holiday shopping between thanksgiving and sunday. the next big shopping holiday on the horizon is cyber monday. millions of americans are expected to shop for internet deals. black friday shoppers showed up in full force at a target store just outside of minneapolis. this a time-lapse from the store in minnetonka, showing a never-ending stream of shoppers and carts flooding the entrance. black friday wasn't all holiday cheer for some shoppers. in chicago, protestors blocked stteets and some store entrances. those protests started after the chicago police department released video showing an officer shooting and killing a black teenager last year. that officer, jason van dyke, now faces a first degree murder charge. hundreds of protestors with the black live matter movement took to shopping centers in downtown seattle yesterday. at one point, demonstrator s went into a macy's store.
at another shopping center, police stopped them from entering because a tree lighting ceremony was going on inside. the protestors' brought a message of creating blacc equality, and to end putting young people in jail. a community is in shock today, after a gunman shot and killed a police officer and two other people at a planned parenthood clinic. this happened in colorado springs yesterday evening. officials say the suspected gunman, robert lewis dear of north ccolina, shoo and killed 44-year-old garret swasey. he was a six-year veteran for the university of colorado-colorado springs police department. the university says swasey went to the clinic to support other officers responding to the shooting. many city officials say the first response was critical in saving lives. "they laid their lives on the line today to prevent the disaster today we witnessed from getting worse. " " "theare prettying the only medical care that is in the front line for any of the
victims there or officers. and today we saw examples of both of those. " in addition to the three dead, five other shot. they all went to hospitals and are in good condition. investigators are still in police custody. an iowa state university-w- h-o poll is showing a huge drop in support for republican front-runner, donald trump. the poll found that only 14.7 percent of likely iowa caucus-goers would vote for trump. that puts him in fourth place. doctor ben carson was in first at 27.2 percent. and senators marco rubio and ted cruz ae in 2nd and 3rd, with 16.7 and 16.2 percent, respectively. for democratic candidates, hillary clinton still holds a strong lead among likely caucu-goers. nearly 50 percent of those popoled say thhy'd vote for clintoto.
had just shy of 28 percent support. the poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percent. iowa hawkeye fans across the nation are celebrating yet another victory this morning. the university of iowa football team now brandishing a 12-and-0 season, after beating the nebraska cornhuskers 28-20. defense played a big role in the win, as the hawkeyes picked off nebraska quarterback tommy armstrong four times. that included a pick-six from defensive end parker hesse, who tipped a pass, caught the ball himself, and then took it four yards into the end zone. the offense relied heavily on senior running back jordan canzeri in the second half. canznzri was off to the races, scoring on two long touchdown runs. we'll have more highlights from that game coming up in sports. cheering
restaurants in the iowa city area yesterday. this is a look at the vine tavern and eatery in coralville. several alumni traveled to iowa city from out-of-state to cheer on the hawkeyes. they say they're excited to be part of school history. 15:17:58 "at the beginning i think it was really nerve wracking, i don't think it was great, but in the second half i think they really came together as a team and played well. the left side cruised 29 yards into the endzone for the 21-10 lead. huskers sliced the lead to 21-17 lead on another cross td run. and if it works go back to it. and canzeri off left tackle again and this time he races 68 yards for the 28-17 lead. jordan with 140 yards rushing. and that was plenty for the iowa defense who came up with two more interceptions. one from greg mabin and another from josie jewell. and the heroes trophy is headed back to iowa city with the 28-20

protest the proposed bakken oil pipeline in cedar rapids. the bakken , also known as the dakota access pipeline, would move 570-thousand barrels of oil a day across 18 counties in iowa. it would come from oil fields in north dakota and go to refineries in illinois. many activist groups like iowa 350 are urging the iowa utilities board to vote "no" on allowing the pipeline through the state. it's a push for more renewable energy and to move away from carbon- based fuels. today's protest will
start near the new bo market in the czech village. boaters, anglers, and beach lovers will have to live with lower water levels at pleasant creek state park longer than expected. the iowa department of natural resources drained a good portion of the lake earlier this year, expecting contractors to start work around december 1st. the
project calls for repairing five miles of eroded shoreline and adding some features. but a persisting problem
with a main gate valve at the dam took too long to fix. for anglers, a smaller and shallower lake has some benefits. " they're still putting fingerlings, walleyes and fish in there right on schedule like they have in the past. fishing should be good but access to the water is the concern everyone should have. " the d-n-r will extend some boat ramps to reach the water. the lake is filling now but should remain about 6 to 10 feet below normal levels. shoreline work is expected to start late next fall or winter. a startling new report says about 30-million americans suffer from eating disorders. this is according to the national eating disorders association. but even more shocking is the lack of care for people with those disorders here in iowa. kcrg-tv9's sarah mccarthy discovered a new
statewide assessment of the disparity from university of iowa researchers. 11:17:55 it became an obsession. and it felt like i was consumed by it. inside a plastic box labeled 'medicine,' hundreds of notes from friends, family, and fellow patients lay out molly hillery's recovery. it all started when she chose to lose a little weight. 11:16:19 "i started tracking what i was eating more, the biggest part for me was restricting my food intake, exercising more." small changes that morphed into more. 11:15:11 "it took more control of my life, and it became way more than healthy eating and losing weight - it became an obsession." these pages detail three separate battles in residential treatment centers out of state. but molly says the hardest part was always returning home to iowa city. 11:32:40 "in treatment you learn you need a team, you need support, eating disorders are complex and intense and you need as many people as you can on your side."" those people are hard to find in iowa. according to a 2015 statewide assessment, the university of iowa
partial hospitalizatio n program for eating disorders. combined, the programs serve up to 25 patients at a time. but thousands more suffer in silence. 12:08:40 "my goal for them is i want them to be a competent eater." sue clarahan is one of iowa's two registered dieticians who help eating disorder out-patients. 12:31:13 "when i have people driving down from elkader, up from burlington, over from rock island, and from grinnell, that's a pretty wide swath that doesn't have access to someone specifically trained in eating disorders." about a dozen specialized therapists exist in the state. meaning it can take months to get off a wait-list and into an office. 11:38:47 "eating disorders are so shameful, asking for help is hard in the first place, but then you don't have access to care." specialized care is key as eating disorders stem from mental illness. clarahan says patients need help both nutritionally and emotionally. 12:20:34 "what do i do with anger besides harming myself or starving myself or binging and purging? what do i do with

reported yesterday. a bandleader whose gear burned in a cedar falls garage fire says someone may have started the fire to cover a theft. police arrested 30- year-old nicholas kollasch for felony arson. evan stock of the evan stock band says police found two of the band's guitars in kollasch's home. stock says the guitars were in a van that burned. firefighters found three vehicles on fire when they arrived at 615 west seventh street early thursday morning.. stock's band had returned to the house after a show just an hour before the fire. from 11.26 waterloo police have arrested a woman for robbing a cell phone store with a knife. 41-year-old cheryl lynn wanchanic faces a first- degree robbery charge. it happened wednesday night at the i-wireless store at 15-25 san marnan drive. no one was hurt. today is national small business saturday, and iowa towns are gearing up for a boost in holiday sales. the national campaign is meant to boost
interest and support for locally-owned small businesses. iowa city's downtown district is kicking off their holiday activities today. iowa city has 335 businesses, and 90 percent of them are independently -owned. if you head there, you'll find free parking at all downtown ramps and street meters. there will also be free activities for kids, like santa saturdays and an elf hunt. the czech village in cedar rapids is also celebrating small business saturday. head to the new bohemia main street area to find one-of-a-kind holiday gifts. you can go online to look at a gift guide for the district. the village has more than 150 specialty shops, restaurants, and artisans. thanksgiving is over, and that means many people are now on the hunt for a christmas tree. this was the crowd at the wickiup hill tree farm near toddville yesterday morning, as the "cut- your-own" business opened for the first day of the season. the owners limit christmas tree sales to between 1-thousand and
