republicans will meet tuesday at the venetian in las vegas. as with previous republican debates - to accommodate the 13-candidate field - it will be split into two debates - one at 5 pm and the primetime debate at 7:30 pm. that will air on cnn. on the democratic side, the three candidates meet in six days, on december 19th, in mchester, new hampshite. that will air on abc. tomorrow, governor branstad will enter the record books, as the longest serving governor in the american history. it will be his 7,642nd day as governor. that's just shy of 21 years in office. governor branstad will pass former new york governor george clinton - a revolutionary war general. branstad will hold an official celebration tomorrow night at the iowa state fairgrounds in des moines. a dubuque man faces drug charges after he called police to his apartment to report an attempted burglary. police say 21-year-old austin lovett called them friday night to his home in the 700 block of university avenue, saying someone had tried to break in. while officers were searching

inside, they saw marijuana stems and seeds and later found 2 grams of the drug. officers later arrested lovett on a charge of possessing a controlled substance. after years of trying to figure out the "best future" for waterloo schools, the district may look at setting a "formal bond issue" tomorrow for a february vote. the waterloo- cedar falls courier reports the board of education will look at a $477 million dollar bond issue that would focus on reer and technical education. is has been a conversation point with waterloo schools for years. the new programs would be located in a new, $35 milllln career center near central middle school. waterloo east and waterloo west high schools would receive $6 million for renovations. the vote would be held n february 2nd. an eastern iowa woman's artwork is all over the national czech & slovak museum & library. but this time of the year, marj nejdl sits in a corner of the museum's gift shop, personalizing christmas ornaments. kcrg-tv9's brady smith shows us her work.

marj nejdl's love of that art is rooted deeply in the foundations of her heritage, as a first- generation czech- american. "my dada was born 1908, and he came over when he was about 7 years old."but her artistic flair, marj says, came from her mother. she works with anything that has a goodod surface for painting...inclu ding these hand-blown glass ornaments. "these that are clear glass are harder to do, because i can see what's behind it, instead of where i'm working." they come from the czech republic already adorned with various designs, but marj gives them a final touch for anyone who wants it... "last year, it was about 650." ...and not just during the holidays. "anniversaries, new babies, first year, things like that." "you'd'de surprised how many we do for pets." this delicate work requires a steady hand, dedication... "at christmas time, it's busy." ...and an ability to admit the occasional mistake. "sometimes, i misspell a word, a name. i thought it was an 'a' and it's supposed to e an 'o.' so, i had to do that over." what started as a fundraiser decades ago grew into a yearly tradidion marj looks forward to. a san bernardino, california, lake are not related to the mass shooting. f-b-i investigators spent

searching the lake located a few miles away from the site of the attack. divers worked in shifts, searching the water with tal detectors. investigators had hoped to find evidence linked to the shooting that killed 14 people earlier this month. authorities believe the shooters - syed farook and tashfeen malik - had visited the lake before they were killed. more than 300 newborns may have been exposed to tuberculosis at a hospital in san jose, california. the santa clara valley medical center says it learned last month that an employee worked in the newborn nursery, while suspected having the bacterial disease. the hospital has since placed the employee on leave. now, the hospital is monitoring the infants closely. " tb leaves the lung and causes other problems such as meninigitis, so it's appropriate totoake the protection of newbornrnvery seriously when an exposure has occurred " doctors say skin and blood tests are extremely unreliable for infants, so they recommended antibiotics for the next six months. meterologist chris havely

and even quarterback. he finished with 1,579 yards of total offense and 17 total touchdowns. "it's exciting. i like a challenge, and sometimes we had 4th downs and coach said, 'if you can get it, get it,' when i'm on the punt team. that's fun. and then big third down conversions when he says, "deur, throw it up to beyer. he's going to go get it.' that's a challenge to me, a challenge to nick to put the ball in the right spot and a challenge for the o-line to hold them. an it ended up workingng few times this year, thankfully. a lot of it was play-calling. i liked what coach white brought to the offense the past two years. last year we were getting acclimated with everything, and this year we knew everything." beyer verbally committed to north dakota state early in the season, but then switched to iowa two days after the state championship game. "iowa's been my dream school. i knew in my eart that if they ever offered, i would commit right away. it was an easy decision for me... it was two days before the state championship game, i got a call from coach morgan saying that they were basically going to offer me something. he said that we have something for you and make it a special experience." white led kennedy to its best season in program history in just his second year. the cougars won their first ever district title and made their first appearance in the championship game. this was all done after going 3-8 last season and that's why coach white was named the kcrg/gazette coach of the year. "we talked to the kids about setting the bar. putting the bar where nobody else can ever surpass it. and with a 9-0 season, nobody can ever surpass 9-0 again in the regular season. they're it. somebody can match it, but they can't ever pass it. going to the semi-finals, we'd been there once before, but this was the

game, playing in that. unfortunately, we didn't come out successful that night, but that doesn't change the fact that how proud we are of these kids." the theme for the team is year was "family". the word was written on a blblk of wood, the players signed their names and it was carried onto the field every game. "we went down to kansas state last spring. they have 16 components to their family. we talked to them about it and really liked the idea of it because a big thing in high school foolball is you have to get classes to mesh. you have to get the senior class and the junior class to mesh together. because if you don't get them to mesh, then no matter how talented you are, it's going to be a struggle... the kids bought into it. they all put their signature on the stick as a commitment to the team that no matter what happened, good or bad, we were going to stick together as a family." ... iowa cornerrack desmond king waa named a first-team all-american by the associated press today. he's 2nd in the
