" lawmakers and voters also discussed iowa's transition to a private medicaid system and water quality. u-n officials are praising the united states for lifting some economic sanctions against iran, in exchange for the country's agreement to curb its nuclear program. yesterday, president obama signed an order to lift those sanctions. the nuclear deal is between iran and six world powers. iran's president hassan rouhani called the nuclear agreement a "glorious victory" on twitter. however, israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu denounced the move, saying iran is still a destabilizing force is the middle east and a supporter of terrorism.

clinton's visit to eastern iowa follows her husband's- former president bill clinton. on friday, he campaigned for hillary in coralville. yesterday, mr. clinton and his daughter chelsea clinton campaigned together at a des moines high school. last night, hillary clinton joined her fellow democratic candidates martin o' malley and senator bernie sanders for two events in south carolina. the trio attended an annual fish fry, hosted by congressman jim clyburn. before that, the candidates spoke at their party's "first in the south" dinner. these events lead into.... tonight's first democratic debate of 20- 16. earlier this week, republicans battled during their first debate in south carolina. tonight's democratic debate starts at 8 on n-b-c. a declaration of team spirit.... broncos fans old - and very, very, young - are showing their support for their team.

woman went to saint luke's hospital with minor injuries. police in dubuque say an 18-year-old man is likely to survive after being shot this weekend. authorities charged 22- year-old deante jenkins with multiple offenses, including reckless use of a firearm, interference with official acts and operating while intoxicated. dubuque police tell tv-9 jenkins and the 18- year-old man who was shot are roommates in east dubuque. investigators say the victim showed up for treatment at a local hospital sometime before 3 saturday morning. soon after that, police were called to a crash along the 900 block of west 32nd street in dubuque. officials say jenkins was driving that car. as they were impounding the vehicle, police say they discovered a gun they believe was used in the shooting. the search for a stolen s-u-v in muscatine ended with a sheriff's deputy shooting a man on friday night. muscatine police say the deputy spotted a stolen hummer near

drive and highway 61 around 10-30. after stopping the s-u-v in a hotel parking lot, police say the driver took off and hit several cars, including a law enforcement vehicle. police say they fired several shots into the vehicle... hitting the driver. officials took that person to u-i-h-c in iowa city for treatment. the iowa division of criminal investigation is investigating. a federal laboratory in ames will investigate a strain of bird flu affecting turkey farms in indiana. turkeys tested positive for bird flu at nine farms in dubois county. scientist will determine if the bird flu strain is the same h-5-n-2 virus that devastated the poultry industry in iowa. officials are working to determine how many turkeys to euthanize. the first farm to get the virus euthanized 60-thousand turkeys. indiana ranks third nationally in egg production, and fourth in turkey production. the bird flu virus wiped out 48

president obama has signed an executive order lifting economic sanctions against iran. that move comes because of the

compliance with a nuclear deal. iran will now have access to billions of dollars in formerly-frozen assets, and could see some benefits when it comes to commodities, like oil exports. in austria yesterday, u-s secretary of state john kerry talked about the landmark agreement. "iran has undertaken significant steps that many, and i do mean many, people doubted would ever come to pass. and that should be recognized " israeli prime minister benjamin netanyahu didn't waste any time today condemning the move. he says israel will do whatever is necessary to quote 'protect its security and defend itself'. following saturday's agreement, iranian officials are releasing 4 detained americans. they include a veteran, pastor, and a washington post reporter. in return, the u-s will exchange 7 detained iranians, and drop or pardon their charges. six of those detainees have dual u-s citizenship. iran is also releasing a

saturday's exchange. in west africa, at least 28 people are dead after an attack and hostage situation at a hotel in burkina faso. 50 others were also wounded overnight when 4 al-qaeda linked extremists held people for several hours. military troops shot and killed the attackers this morning. the luxury hotel is a popular meeting place for western diplomats. french president francois hollande says two french citizens are among the dead. president obama is pledging to fix the water crisis in flint, michigan. the city's public water contains dangerous amounts of lead. flint's tap water was contaminated after the city switched water sources in 2014. michigan governor rick snyder requested federal aid on thursday. president obama's emergency declaration yesterday allows fema to provide water, filters, cartridges and other water quality items for the next 3 months.
