that massive winter storm in the eastern u-s are glad to be back in dubuque today. family and friends greeted them with signs and hugs as their buses arrived. the five buses were carrying about 200 chaperones and students traveling back from the march for life in washington d-c. their convoy got stuck on the pennsylvania turnpike about 8:20 friday night, for about 24 hours. one volunteer with the dubuque county right to life group described the chaos on the roads. "a couple of semis ahead of us had gototn stuck on a hill and were jack knifed, so if that wouldn't have happened we would have easily gotten home. however that stopped us, so being stuck, it just kept snowing and snowing and snowing " that group - alg with other iowans on their way home from the march in d-c - held an impromptu mass while they were stuck on

"everybody was just singing, no moping, nobody being upset. everybody was just happy where they were and they were just making theest of being stuck together. " the snow out east has - for the most part - stopped, and now mimiions of people are starting to dig themselves out of the snow and ice. the blizzard is being blamed for at least 25 deaths. it also grounded thousands of fligh, essentially shuttingngown several of the nation's largest cities. cities are still trying to clear streets and get public transportation up and running before the monday commute. even though travel bans are lifted, officials are roads. " leave your car where it is. today. unless you have an emergency or something truly urgent. " washington d-c brought i i400 extra snow plows and canceled schools for monday.

have before decididg which presidential candidates stand above all others. several of those candidates are in iowa today, making final appeals to caucus-goers. on the democratic side, hillary clinton has three stopoptoday. between four and five hundreds supporters packed into buford garner elementary school this afternoon. secretary clinton took the podium with actvist cecile richards. richards spent time expressing why while clinton tackled the issues. she touched on planned parenthood, the econono, and the country'ss infrastructure among many other issues facing americans. trump received 34 percent. that's up about 10 percent from one week ago. ted cruz came in second with 23 percent. marco rubio got just 12 percent. the margin of error is plus or minus five percent. many presidential candidates appeared on the sunday talk shows this morning, but florida senator marco rubio was in cedar rapids. he held a town hall this afternoon at the best western on the northeast side of town. during that stop, bio talked about his plan for tional security. bubuearlier today, he sat down with kcrg-tv 9's chris earl in our studio. as time gets tighter and tighter for presidential candidates to build support leading up to the caucuses, republican marco rubio spent more than 10 minutes at kcrg on sunday morning -- touching on frequent talking points - such as lower income tax rates, repealing the affordable care e t and tightening thehe borders to keep isis out. the epicenter of the magnitude 7.1 quake was about 162 miles southwest of anchorage. so far, there have been reports of only minimal damage in pulated areas, with at least one exceptiononthe quake triggered a gas explosion in the city of kenai, causing major damage to one home. first responders evacuated dozens of other homes in the area a aa precaution. no one was injured. the second most powerful earthquake on record worldwide hit alaska in 1964. e nor'easter that dumped feet of snow across the eastern u-s is now holding up business on capitol hill, forcing lawmakers to postpone votes this coming week. the senate plans to return to work on wednesday morning. but the office of majority leader kevin mccarthy says the house won't hold votes on tuesday or wednesday. that pushes back an override vote of president obama's veto of a republican-backed bill

that vote is now expected to happen the week of february 1st. no travel delays for iowa lawmakers, as they prepare to hear an update on iowa's move to a privately-managed medicaid system. the senate human resources committee will be briefed on the process around 3:30 tomorrow afternoon at the state capitol. issues expected to be discussed include whether the new provider networks will adequately serve iowans, and if medicaid members and providers are getting clear communication s from the state of iowa and managed care organizations. and companies expanding high-speed internet service in iowa say there's a hiccup in governor branstad's 2015 broadband law, one that could hold up fufure projects. the law contains a 10- year property tax exemption for internet service providers who build new broadband infrastructur e in certain areas. but those companies say they're still waiting for the state's department of
