from your 24 hour news source, this is kcrg-tv9 news at midday. investigators with the state patrol say at least 3 people died after an early morning crash in benton county. the benton county sheriffs office and the iowa state patrol responded to highway 30 west of van horne before 5:30 this morning. the iowa state patrol reports a minivan - with 10 peoeoe inside of it - lost control and the it. the state patrol says snow and ice on the highway may have played a factor in the crash. the d-o-t says the crash blocked traffic in both directions for several hours. it was back open around 8:30 this morning. emergency crews were out directing traffic away from the crash this morning. to recap, the state patrol says at least 3 people died in this crashshwe do not know if all of the victims were from the minivan. we'll have more information throughout the day as we confirm it

with the closest mosque miles away and other students all over campus, muslims didn't have a quiet area where they could pray without interruption. now that space is it's a step forward. kcrg-tv9's brea love reports. more than 30 thousand students attend the university of iowa. so you can imagine campus is which makes finding a quiet area to pray, hard for students like mohammad ismail. for a the imu and try to find something that's available, which is not the case like at 2 or 2pm, or i'd have to go top of a staircase and just pray there and hope that no one would walk by and start asking me questions, because we can't talk when we pray." many other msa members felt the same way.

with mental health issues. police officers, and other county officials traveled to san antonio, texas. police there take people with mental health and substance abuse issues to a behavioral health center instead of a county better train officers to handle mental health issues. there's also a possibility of adding a behavior health center in the future. bringing the partners to the meeting later on in february where everybody who has been down to san antonio is going to come together and say, what did you see? what stood out to you? what seems like a pressing need here? what seems like a great idea we could model here? what might that look like and then what are some of those initial action steps? " county leaders say they've been working hard to combat mental illness over the past couple of years, but there's more work to do. a man who was serving 50 years in the coralville prison has died. he was there for the murder of a mashalltown woman. the iowa department of corrections says 42-year- old matthew irving died of
