a young des moines mother was killed this morning in a horrible crash. the driver of the car tells his mother the crash happened...because he was being chased. good evening. i'm lynn melling. police are still investigating the crash that happened just before 9-am. but family members on both sides are shining some light on what may have happened. aaron brilbeck has the story. "that's my baby. me and my niece was so close."karen dameron can't believe her niece is gone. 22-year old scalicity perez...who also goes by the last name boyd, was killed when the car she was riding in hit a tree this morning on 35-th street. the crash was so violent the car is nothing more than a pile of twisted metal. "i'm just in disbelief. i still believe this is a dream. i still think it's a dream. i don't believe my niece is gone."scalicity leaves behind four children...but there

are no father's in the picture. the father of her youngest is in jail...and the father of the other three...deshaun trombone..was sentenced to 65-years in prison last month in the death of a five year old girl. police say the girl overdosed on drugs trombone left laying around his new girlfriend's home. "you got those four babies without their mommy. we don't know what's gonna happen next. it happened too suddenly. i just saw her."the driver of the car, troy mure, suffered only minor injuries in the crash. his mother says he was deeply in love with scalicity... "him and her was gonna get a place together. they were gonna get married. she was positive in troy's life. troy was positive in her life. he had a job working three o'clock till 2 o'clock in the morning, staying out of trouble. going to church every sunday."mure's mother says her son told her the crash was caused by people chasing him in another car. "they waved a gun. he stepped on the gas to get away from them. and they hit the back of the car and made him lose control of the

car."mure's mother says her son told her from his hospital bed that people had been threatening him...that they believe he was involved in the unsolved murder of dashwan smith, who was shot to death near the evolution nightclub earlier this month. but mure's mother says she doesn't think her son was involved. "he told me he was scared but he told me that he turned his life around and i know he has. i seen it. and a lot of people seen it."karen dameron says she doesn't really know what happened. all she knows is that she'll miss her niece's smile...her outgoing personality...and the way the two used to butt heads.. "because she knew aunty karen was giving her some advice. this is a tragedy i did not want to see. now my niece is gone. my niece is not here ". the polk county sheriff's department isn't saying whether mure is considered a suspect in the shooting at evolution

while still extremely popular, little league football has seen a drop in numbers over the past few years. one reason- parents are scared for their children's safety. so one organization is reaching out for help... and finding it. tracy sears has the story. nats: football twins sammy and chris singleton have been playing football for the chesterfield quarterback league since they were 6 years old. nats: now 11, they're the youngest in a family of football players. nats: "out of my 4 boys, we've had 2 concussions that i can think of on the field." but jen singleton says she has more peace of mind now, than she did just a few years ago... when it comes to understanding her sons' risk of injuries- mainly peace of mind now, than she did just a few years ago... when it comes to understanding

the u.s. today issued a worldwide travel alert for americans, in the aftermath of the paris attacks. the state department says terror groups like isis, al qaeda, and boko haram "continue to plan terrorist attacks in multiple regions." officials say there are individuals who might also carry out their own attacks. the alert does not ask americans to avoid travel. instead, it urges them to be vigilant, especially in public places or using mass transit. this is the first worldwide travel alert since december 2014. it extends until february 24th of next year. the use of social media and technology by isis has been called one of the most alarming capabilities of the terror group. republican presidential candidate marco rubio told a town hall gathering in iowa today the u-s should follow their lead. presidential candidate"i believe we should be carrying out attacks against sunni leadershipnodes, videotaping the whole thing and putting it up on youtube so the whole world can see that these people are not invincible. i want the world to see
