it's been a sad day here at solon high school. it's the first day of the semester after christmas breaand students have not gotten off to a good start so far. the school district was alerted about tanner's death on sunday afternoon, but they held class today to establish a sense of normalcy for them. the district had counselors, a crisis team and various churches who helped students process ththdeath of t tir friendndnd classmate. seniors were also allowed to leave early today so they could mourn their loss as well. the superintendent says everyone grieves in their own y and because of that, they'll have he available all wewe. compete.the high school student is one of ten in the nation bound for seattle to show what he can do with numbers., cbs 2 news reporter mellaney moore talked with the young mathematician. looklive: this week west high school in iowa city will be subtracting one of their students so he can be added&to a national math competition in seattl..and that can make a big difference for both him and the school.junhee lee is representing the midwest in the american mathematical society's "who wants to be a mathematician competition." thursday the west high sophomore will compete against nine other students from across the count in high school math.that's something he fininhed up two years he takes math classes at the university of iowa.if lee wins the competition, he would take home $5,000 for himself and $5,000 for the school's math department.lee says he looks forward to that potential prize money...but also the sum of all the traveling to washington for
