that is what we have right now areawide. we're in the 70s all day long so far. it will continue to stay that way. that will lead to a heat index that is higher than the actual temperature. we have temperatures in the 80s and almost everyone has heat index values in the 90s. it feels like 92 and cedar rapids. 96 and iowa city. 93 in waterloo. about 5 to 10 degrees hotter than the actual temperature. that will go up from here. we could have index values get close to 100 degrees across the entirety of eastern iowa to -- through the afternoon. that could last for several hours before the sun set after the sun sets, that is what i'm keeping an eye on -- this cold front to the north. that was slowly sink south through the night in lead to the chance for showers and thunderstorms. for much of the day, this will stand into portions of wisconsin and minnesota this afternoon. as it moves further south, it

we talked about this this morning. we do have a flood watch in effect for chickasaw, allamakee, winneshiek, clayton and fayette counties. that goes until wednesday night. the potential for heavy rainfall that could lead to flooding in those areas. we could see upgrades to flash flood watches later. we do need to watch this. after about 7:00 tonight we will see scattered showers and storms develop north of highway 20 those will slowly moved south through the overnight hours, reaching this will continue southward until 5:00. we could be waking up to a messy commute in the morning tomorrow for parts of the area. we're also watching the potential for strong storms. the storm production center has outlined an area north of highway 20, near and northeast of waterloo for tonight. this is a low risk that we could see a strong storm. it would be capable of producing gusty winds and heavy rainfall. now we're picking up wednesday

more rainfall is on the way, heavy rain at that. we will l have a very moist, tropical air mass in place that will likely lead to heavy rainfall rates through the night tonight and into parts of tomorrow. we could have some grounds of showers and storms and we will see dry time i thursday. this will continue to be warm and humid. a chance for rain increasing tonight into wednesday. by thursday, we do have dry time. it will be warm. we will be in between systems. friday and we have the potential for heavy rain and flooding. then, here comes fall weather once again. it comes back in time for the weekend. then we warm up again by monday. we could have some lows that get into the 40s and 50s. it's going to be cool air coming back. we need to get through this. >> not bad.

the beach at sunset? >> apparently at sunset, yes. when the site sets tonight it will be a little cooler. we also have a chance for showers and thunderstorms. before then it will continue to be hot and humid. temperatures warming close to 90. we could have heat index values even higher than that, close to 100. clouds will build later tonight. showers and thunderstorms start to develop north of highway 20, tonight. some could be strong and could produce gusty winds and heavy rainfall. it could be a soggy commute for some of us as the rain continues into the morning hours of wednesday. then we have some rounds to get through throughout the day on wednesday. heavy rainfall is a concern. a flood watch is in effect for chickasaw allamakee, winneshiek, clayton and fayette counties until wednesday night.
