at five,a former cedar rapids school teacher ?just walked out of jail flight of five a former cedar rapids school teacher just walked out of jail for the second time. now facing even more charges. the latest in the case. it looks like our we can weather is goi around eastern iowa. we will have the numbers in the forecast coming up. just one hour ago afford her cedar rapids teacher was bailed out of jail for the second time in three months. the former substitution teacher faced more charges. she is accused of sexually exploiting a student. she violated a no contact order. the former student visited haglin where she is working. the two spoke.

their relationship was consensual but because the team was a minor and her student, it still gets a lot. haglin turned herself in on the latest charges this afternoon after being released. a breakdown of dna evidence was key in the david miller trial. miller is accused of stabbing and strangling sabrina back in october 2015. prosecutors called expert witnesses to the stand to confirm miller's blood was found in if the jury convicts miller he will be sentenced to a mandatory life sentence. today waterloo police chief told some of his officers that he is stepping down. he told them he was asked to resign. the rumor spread from there and reached a city council member who went to the mayor ask if it was true. amir called it a personal matter and could not discuss it. in recent weeks the department came under fire over claims it treats minorities unfairly. earlier this week the chief

temperature will be about 70 degrees. if you use 380 regularly you've probably seen the backups near north liberty. cbs reporter melanie moore went to find out why and when it's expected to improve. >> reporter: the mayor of north liberty says she has heard from residents about this traffic she says they have made some adjustments to the construction to try to help make it better but the constructi s continue safely. right now north liberty is in the process of widening the street. the new four-lane road is intended to help handle community growth. meanwhile county officials say safety concerns on the 965 bridge recently closed it. was coming off the interstate be patient and pay attention. >> just this week when i was coming off 380 going southbound and coming into town traffic

his battle with p-t-s-d. ketchum took his own life on july 8th - hours after trying to get into the v-a hospital in iowa city. his family says it must have taken ketchum a lot to even ask for help - and they're upset he was turned away. cbs 2 news reached out to the hosptial after his death, trying to get answers about why ketchum wasn't admitted for treatment. all v-a officials could tell us was they admit anyone who needs immediate treatment and there were other factors involved. they couldn't tell us what those factors were because of medical privacy laws. those missing pieces are what senators chuck grassley and joni ernst want filled in. they came to the hospital this afternoon - trying to find out more about the system while they wait for the office of the inspector general to finish its official investigation. but it's also a really good way to get to know the providers and the administration and when that information comes down,we can have an open discussion about

this one does look to be really nice in eastern iowa we still have a few clouds out there right now but not much in the way of rain. temperatures 72 and winds northwest at seven. the dew point at 63 degrees. let's take a look at the temperatures around eastern iowa. most everybody is in the 70s. earlier today was warmer in the southeast when sunshine burst through their and it got up to 80 in iowa city. most of us are in the range of 72 to now on satellite, you can still see we have clouds to go through but the rain that fell around parts of the region last night was significant once again. fortunately today it looks like the worst of that will be east of our viewing area. here are some of the rain totals that came in from last night. hopkinton at 2.81 inches of rain. independence 2.66. cedar falls and southwest cedar

decorah, once again 1.5 inches of rain. they have had over 47 inches of rain for the year so far. we still have three more months ago. it has been a soggy few months. as for the current radar there is where our friend is located. that's where any significant rains will occur tonight just east of that. we do have a couple light showers showing up in muscatine county. not much more than sprinkles. those will move quickly off to the east. that should mean good things for high school football games. temperatures will be mild, skies mostly cloudy and winds light out of the southwest at five to 10 miles per hour. know whether issues this week for high school football. for tomorrow we will add sunshine to the equation and you've got your iowa game in iowa city. the temperature at kickoff which is a 11:00 a.m. should be 70 degrees. and the sunshine and winds at 10 to 15. here's what's going on tonight. we've got a cold front that's
