partly cloudy in cedar rapids. temperature at 74 degrees. full forecast including the evening and overnight in coming up in about 10 minutes time. cedar rapids will host a national conference beyond potential impacts of hundreds of visitors it will draw. we're joined live with joe. >>reporter: this morning go cedar rapids announced the city of five seasons will host the 2017 sports event conference. that gives us a chance to show up sport venues like the veterans memorial stadium right here. organizers say that sport event media group calls this the relationship conference giving sports events planners a chance to meet with city representatives from across the country. they say it gives an extra boost to the city hosting and

visit the sports centers. cedar rapids go says the initial impact will be like any other conference but the potential for long-term economic impact is the game changer. rapids for 4 to 5 days allowing us to showcase our destination to these rights holders who are trying to figure out where are they going to have ei host their national championship their regional championships." more interesting findings - one in five women reported being raped while in school. nearly one in ten men say someone attempted to rape them. most say alcohol is usually a common factor. university students and staff were asked to take the survey to help officials find a strategy to fight sexual assault on campus - the topic has come into the spotlight recently in schools across the country and sexual assault reports at u-i. former u-i president sally mason a six point plan during her tenure, and while u-i leaders say many of those goals were achieved - there is more work to be done. today, the school laid out a new two year plan developed by the anti-violence coalition to address specific needs at u-i. the former head of the cedar rapids police department -- --is now under investigation at a florida police force. force.ocala police chief greg graham served as the chief in cedar rapids from 2008 to 2012. last night -- ocala city

killed an unarmed black man last friday night. night.officer betty shelby was responding to a report of a stalled vehicle when the shooting happened.officials say 40-year-old terence crutcher did not have a weapon on him or in his s-u-v. shelby's attorney says she had reason to fear for her life -- but attorneys for crutcher's family disagree.the family says crutcher was not reaching in his car to get something at the time of the shooting- because his window was up. tulsa police say a vial of the drug p-c-p vehicle.officer shelby is now on paid administrative leave. the justice department is now investigating.crutcher's funeral is scheduled for saturday. in our vote 2016 coverage today- today-republican presidential nominee donald trump spoke about the shootings in tulsa and charlotte. charlotte.trump is calling for unity as after the shootings of the two black men.he also says he believes in law and enforcement but he questions the actions of the officer that shot terence crutcher in

chance of showers coming back into the forecast this afternoon. more moisture nudging and around the far northern part of the viewing area. flash flood warning continues for another 16 minutes, thank you, 16 minutes quickly and then we have a flash flood watch that stays into effect until 7:00 p.m. tomorrow night for the northern viewing area. i think the predictor gives you the potential for clouds and a few scattered showers and storms in the evening. into the overnight we have a watchful eye for more flooding concerns and late into the evening as well. we will stay with the clouds and rain and thunderstorms tomorrow all the way through friday midmorning and they dry out. clearing friday night and sunny skies saturday and more showers sunday into monday as well.
