capitola. this is david's home on friday. and it has been demolished and hauled away. the city has cruise working to replace pipes but not ready to accept the blame. the county has this side of the road. >> and there is about 100 foot wide water had developed in the county facility. and there was reports of a loud bang that happened. and that that pool of water drained in about two minute autos the debate over who is at fault comes as city leaders predict a clean up and costs hit estimated $10 million. who pays for what will be likely answered long after the mud is gone. >> that is overwhelming. but we can see whatever happens that is property and fair. >> capitola declared a state of emergency and county superviseors expected to lay the ground work for funding.

>> wayne thank you. and a jury convicted an 18-year-old man of trying to kill a former teacher with pipe bombs. the high school dropout found guilty on five of the seven charges against him the jury dead locked on other charges but the foreman says the juries may be able to agree. he targeted the teacher duing an assault but tackle bid three teachers after setting off two pipe bombs. there one was injured in this attempt. >> vacaville police released a name of a man hurt when a bomb went off in his hands. jose sanchez nrk his 80s remains in serious condition at uc davis tonight. he was picking up his newspaper when a device inside exploded. officers spent hours searching for bombs in the neighborhood and they did not find anything. >> this former mistress of

barry bonds took the stand today told jurors he talked to her about taking steroids. abc 7 is live tonight in san francisco for us. >> the former girlfriend spent most of the day on the stand in exhausting sparring with the defense lawyer, who at times seemed barely able to contain her disdain for bell. kimberly bell testified that in 1999 she asked him what caused an elbow injury. she told the jury he said "it's because of steroids". >> this is the first time we've heard direct testimony about his state of mind that he knew he was using steroids. >> he testified to changes she observed in bonds starting in 1998. back acne body size increase bloating hair loss shumpken again talls and increase add gregs, all symptoms of steroids and human growth

hormone. she testified he threatened her and said he'd cutoff my head and leave me in a ditch. >> the government wants jurors to put that together to come to the conclusion there is no way he could have taken the substance autos bonds is on trial for telling a 2003 grand jury he never knowingly took steroids and hgh. on cross examination bonds attorney tried to paint bell as an angry scorned former girlfriend out to humiliate bonds, capitalizing on his fame with a book about their relationship. it was never published. bell expected to be paid $100,000 for posing in playboy but testified she got only $18,000. death told argetas to ratchet down her tone. >> the bonds defense team made a conscious zilgs decision they're going to be aggressive as possible with this key witness.

whether that strategy works out, only the verdict will tell. >> bell testified she's afraid bonds might kill her at one point, telling the jury today was the first time she'd seen him since he told her over the phone to quote unquote disappear. >> chauncey bailey's killer testified about the life inside your black muslim bakery. he worked as a janitor describing gunning down chancey -- chauncey bailey as part of a hit telling the court he'd never heard of bailey until a few days before the killing. bey and macky face murder charges for the murder two of other men. and the story a journalist was writing he is testifying against bey and macky as part of a plea deal. >> underground cable failure blew a 300 pound man hole

cover into the air into union square. the explosion took place beneath post street and grant avenue. police diverted traffic and crews worked underground to fix the problem. no one was hurt and there are no reports of power failures. pg&e points out it's been installing new covers around san francisco that are designed to release underground pressure without blasting into the air this was not one of those. >> and an antioch man was shot and killed this morning but a sheriff's deputy. the incident started with a traffic stop along hanlan way. the 24-year-old driver first gave deputies a false name then restarted his car and tried to drive away at a high rate of speed. deputies discovered there was a warrant for arrest. >> deputies attempted to prevent him from driving away. one became partially trapped and the other was struck by the vehicle.

and to prevent injury or fatality one officer discharged his weapon. >> one deputy had minor injuries and the warrant for his arrest stemmed from child endangerment and vandalism. >> a dump truck driver was treat forward a head injury after his big rig plunged into the way today in marin county. the tow truck pulled the dump truck out of the water breaks apparently failed and then rolled down a hill before plunging into the water. the driver waited for help to arrive. and traffic crawl add long the nimitz freeway, caltrans closed two right lanes and workers replaced damaged pavement.
