above the toll plaza this morning to let drivers know that soon paying with cash will no longer be an option. starting on wednesday, the bridge will in longer take cash and there will be no human toll takers. drives have to sign up for fast track, register a credit card account, or expect a bill after they cross. also starting on wednesday the toll plaza speed limit increases to 25 miles per hour up from the recommended five miles per hour now if place. the speed limit on the bridge is 45 miles per hour. >> now a story you see only on abc7 news, the family of the marine killed in a murder-suicide is speaking out. kira klapper is live in the newsroom with more on how they remember their loved one. >> the family of lance corporal sara castro mata is in shock and remembering their daughter and sister for her joyful spirit. she was a dedicated main. they spent an hour with abc7 news yesterday sharing pictures of her. the 19-year-old was a huge
lakers fan and hoped to meet kobe bryant. look at that, she was dressed up and beaming before prom at liberty high school in brentwood. >> her smile told you everything. her face. being happy all the time. she was good student. good daughter. good sister. >> always happy. >> her mother said that everyone always said she was happy because she always had a smile on her face. her family shows these pictures because this is how they want her remembered. military officials say sergeant lopez of pacifica killed both castro mata and jacob wooley at quantico, virginia, and then turned the gun on himself. wooley, the second victim, was
from mississippi. the 23 year old was a field radio operator in the marines prior to joining, he had considered becoming a preacher. sara castro's family is making arrangements to collect her body with the investigation is completed. >> people are lining up at the supreme court trying to grab a front row seat to legal and same sex history. arguments begin tomorrow over the right for gays and lesbians do marry with the first case involving solution -- voter approved proposition 8 after it was banned. locals want the ban overturned. >> absolutely against a ban on same-sex marriage because --. >> even if the voters --. >> they are simply institutional. >> the other case deals with

approached homes in residential neighbors and knocking on doors to see if anyone is home. if someone answers the suspects ask for dresses or ask to speak to someone would doesn't live there. if no one answers, they break in and problem the home. the sheriff advises people to call 9-1-1 if a suspicious person is knocking on their door. >> ahead, apple opens up their wallet. the bay area business company they buying and a product that could benefit from the purchase. >> lt. governor got a firsthand demonstration on google's new glasses. who is calling the new gadget

throughout the bay area today, that will take us through the middle of the week and an upcoming weather system could allow for a few areas of rain. we need it. it doesn't look promising yet with high pressure still hang on and it is sliding to the east and it allows for more cloud cover and a couple of systems to drop from the north. through the rest of the day the cloud cover will thin out from time to time and we will call it cloudy and much the same open tuesday, and we begin to see a couple of areas of rain but most of the activity is offshore or in the north bay the form of sprinkles around cloverdale on wednesday and it looks like by thursday, still, offshore, and we are looking at a system of what we came a cut off load for the weekend and that could head from northern california to southern california with the policies of rain saturday and sunday. 66 in san jose, and that is the holiday, but, today, trending cooler and 64 in redwood city city and upper 50's in san francisco, and 57 in the sunset district and in the north bay,

up. a little fog this morning but this afternoon the breeze kicks up and high temperatures today will be cooler in the upper 50's at the coast and 59 in san francisco, and partly cloudy in oakland and upper 60's in morgan hill. >> from the traffic center, the metering lights are on at the bay bridge toll plaza and traffic backing beyond the overcrossing. i will give you an update of an accident in san jose, an accident in benicia, and an accident in oak the details on all of that and more after the break
>> looks to be a dry start but we have a few clouds. >> let's find out what happens today? >> certainly looking at a few more clouds and some cooler high temperatures. this is because of the high pressure weakening allowing for a cooler onshore flow that you may have felt yesterday, from two to four degrees cooler, starting at the coast we are mild in the mid-40's but look for coastal fog and a brisk sea breeze later on today with highs just in the upper 50's around the bay. we are looking at good visibility and numbers in the mid-60's from oakland and san leandro and hayward this afternoon, so that is a little cooler than what you have been used to and evening numbers moving back across the bay in the 50's and inland, where it will be the mildest but not compared to where we have been with 70's and in more 70's around the bay. today, look if clouds and
mid-50's to start out and then by the afternoon, we are talking mid-60's, so, still a pleasant afternoon, and maybe some upper 60's and the possibility of rain is with us but it does increase throughout the later part of the work week into the holiday week the we will show you the seven-day outlook in a few moments. >> back to san jose for an update, good news of the accident north 101, at the overcrossing, which has been cleared from the lanes. we still have traffic back toward story road but that should be improving greatly as the morning rolls on. look at the drive from the central valley, very slow up and over the altamont pass, and we had an early accident reported westbound at livermore avenue. that has been cleared. the damage is done. 45 minutes now from the altamont pass to the dublin/pleasanton area. north 880 at oak, this accident still in the median as you make your way to downtown. and a stilled big rig at 24 junction southbound 680 at walnut creek blocking the right lane, and that is the reason for the bumper to bumper traffic as
you make the turn at north main so that remains slow as they get the tow truck for a big rig which is big undertaking underway and we will follow that as the morning continues. kristen and eric? >> thank you. new this morning, we are a few hours away from the official ribbon cutting for the new devil slide tunnel, the half billion project runs along the san mateo county coast. abc7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live with pacifica. drives have wait add long time for this. >> it is a long time coming, you are right, kristen, a huge challenge. but caltran spokesman says they never doubted that the day would come. they had the fatal and never felt like giving up. they are going to party today. there will be a celebration this morning. it will be right at the entrance of the new tunnels. hundreds of people are expected to be there all of who were somehow connected to making the tunnels a reality. they made sure that local resident whose fought for the
tunnels were invited. the officials say that building the tunnels was the biggest challenges the agency has ever faced. >> this was the most exciting project i have ever been on and i have had several. there is just nothing like being inside of a tunnel that is under construction. it was the most extraordinary expense my life and i know a last my colleagues feel the same way, being part of a tunnel under construction is an extraordinarily special job to have. we all felt that way. >> he says they are hope they are opening but says they will miss the project. though calling this an environmental achievement and say they went to great lengths not to disturb the natural habitat. engineers took courts on how to recognize endangered species. they say that their celebration will be this morning but after this evening's commute, that is when they will start diverting traffic and getting it ready to go through the tunnel. they are not sure what time the
tunnels will open tonight or in the morning but they will be ready for tomorrow's morning commute. live in pack can for abc7 news. >> 6:34. new this morning, one person is in critical condition after being stabbed on the streets of richmond overnight. it happened just before midnight. police placed at least a dozen evidence markers on the street, and police are, working on a description of the attacker and a motive. also new this morning, three people are in custody after leading police on a chase from hayward to oakland. the police say the car crashed into the center median on eastbound 580. officers noticed the car was swerving and tried to pull it over but the driver took off. they are trying to determine if the same car was involved in a drive-by shooting. >> young man vanished in the search at half moon bay and the search is called off. the 22-year-old was laying soccer with a friend on roosevelt beach yesterday when
lopez went into the surf to retrieve the ball but he disappeared. no one knows what happened to him. he go in the beach and i started looking for him... >> workers, co-workers and friends are holding out hope that he somehow might have come out of the water on his own. emergency crews say the surf was relatively calm but there were deep pockets and swift currents along the shore that could have played a role in the disappearance. >> from afghanistan, secretary of state john kerry has landed on an unannounced visit. john kerry arrived a few hours ago in the capital after visiting iraq. this is video from the visit. he will meet the afghan president, karzai. >> same-sex marriage honk -- long road to the supreme court reaches the destination of

san jose and half moon bay and 47 downtown. we are looking at some fog in the north bay, with cloudy skies this afternoon and windy at the coast and cooler days to disaster the week, with a possibility of rain increasing toward the end of the week and this area of high pressure continues to slide to the east and a couple of systems are moving in from the north and west breaking down the ridge and then our flow will turn more southernly and that will allow for sprinkles in the not bay but the rest of day, partly cloudy and on tuesday, a few clouds and the rain is offshore and by wednesday getting a little closer to the north bay and sonoma county and by the end of the work week this is another system that wants to visit the entire state of california so even if you are traveling south into southern california you could see rain for easter. 66 in santa clara and low-to-mid 60's on the peninsula and 59 downtown. in the north bay, numbers ranging from the mid-60's with clouds and vallejo is 65.
