two pittbulls go on a

dangerous rampage terrorizing a peninsula neighborhood. an attack so vicious they even went after a car door. >> and when police could not catch him an officer used his cruiser to run the dogs down. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm ama-daetz. it happened near san mateo high school around 9:00. >> katie is live at the san mateo police department with the story. >> dan and ama one dog was killed and the other is alive, but its fate will be decided by the humane society. a woman is recovering from bites and cuts inflicted by two aggressive dogs. >> it was an out of breath, frightened male caller saying he just fended off two large dogs that attacked him. >> and there were three more calls after that. this man saw one attack. the victim a landscaper across the street. >> i was surprised so vicious. they are coming coming and coming back and attacking the guy. >> police gave us the photo

showing teeth marks in his leaf blower. he used it to protect himself. the officer who first arrived on scene couldn't even get out of his car and this photo shows why. >> they clawed and bit damaging the driver's side door. >> multiple patrol cars tried to coral the dogs which police say were pittbulls. officers shouted and hopinged -- honked their horns especially as they ran toward women and children and a high school. when they ran toward a second school he made a decision. >> he hit the car and was killed instantly and the second one retreated jie. it lead them to its home. when the owners arrived police found out for all of the close calls someone was hurt. >> a woman was being treated for bites. she was bitten by both dogs and had puncture wounds to her right bicep and lower legg. >> the dog's owners are cooperating.

the district attorney will decide if they face any charges. in san mateo, abc7 news. a police investigation is underway tonight after new video surfaced that appears to show a san francisco police officer trying to tip a handicapped man out of his wheelchair. cornell bernard talked to the man at the center of the investigation. he is live in the newsroom with the details. >> he says he will make a formal complaint after an incident involving he in his wheelchair. >> i am not a threat to anybody. >> he says he wanted to help some friends on sunday who were being questioned by san francisco police after an argument. >> bo, don't go over there. >> this i i had yow shows him moving his wheelchair toward the group to intervene, but officers tell him to leave and at one point one tries to tip him out of his wheelchair and push him off the curb. friends rush in to help. >> what are you doing? you wrong. >> it looked like they were trying to throw you out of

your chair. >> they were. he was. he tried to dump me out a couple of times. everybody wear your seatbelts. >> you need to go. >> he denies running over the officer's foot, but watch the clip again. it is hard to tell what happened. he is paralyzed with a spinal cord injury from an accident. he has been recouperating at law giewn tau honda hospital for the last year. he said this video clip is hard to watch. >> what if i fell on my face? i could have died. >> he was cited for object instructing an officer. police are not commenting about the video. an internal investigation is underway. cornell bernard abc7 news. >> the environmental protection agency has joined the investigation into the mystery goo that killed 200 birds in san francisco bay. the birds were found in the east bay and the peninsula. state and federal wildlife officials spent hours on the bay. this is video shot by the department of fish and

alan? >> sir francis drake boulevard is where you could hear them yelling at each other and honking their horns in frustration. the frustration can be felt all the way back to highway 101. and that is why there is an effort to put this project on a fast track. ask anyone about the eastbound commute during rush hour and this is what you will hear. >> it is bad. it stops up and it slows the rest of the traffic down. >> that's why mark levine has introduced urgency legislation to speed up restoration of a third lane on the bridge. currently it is an emergency lane. >> it would relieve highway 101 and a lot of people's headaches and frustration. >> commuters are forced to take a long slow drive down sir francis drake boulevard to get to the bridge. the back up also causes congestion on highway 101 for drivers headed north.

>> when i was living in petaluma it would add another 30 minutes to it if i was coming from the san francisco area. it was backed up from the golden gate bridge. >> for locals trying to get home from the score can be a pain. >> might add another 20 minutes or so. it should be three minutes to get home. >> we need to get the third lane for the richmond bridge done soon. >> if the bill passes in the spring assemblyman levine said the third eastbound lane could be finished as early as next year. in san rafael, alan wang, abc7 news. chards of glass embedded in the sidewalk in palo alto have become a dangerous hazard for pedestrians. they have told a contractor to vee pair the new sidewalks on california avenue. pieces of decorative glass have come loose getting stuck in shoes and even pets' paws. officials found areas of the $7 million project of the glass installed incorrectly. they are telling the contractor to replace it and get it right.

starting next month air quality officials will start gathering public opinion on ways to improve air quality. they will consider reducing the threshold for declaring a spare the air day and focus on new restrictions when it comes to burning wood for heating. >> our regional air quality is very good. locally is where we will try to focus a little more where it is a neighbor on neighbor or a neighborhood-type area. >> air quality officials say they won't consider any restrictions on outdoor barbecues smokers or wood burning pizza ovens. they are getting complaints from the public about them. >> probably should not be allowed. they are not allowing us to come into our community. >> cooking is not a vanity. they need to teach how to cook
