a half years in prison. within months getting out, his new wife diana lynn went missing. that next year, his next wife cindy rogers, was about to report abuse. he shot her across the high as she sat by the pool with her son. [ inaudible ] >> stanley denied the murder but got convicted. prosecutors connected him to another woman, rene wright, found dead in that same summer tossed in an oil well >> don anderson works on the case and now he's trying to get stanley's death sentence confirmed. stanley has been on death row for 32 years. >> you abolish the death penalty or you enforce it. there is no sense of having it if you are not going to use it.

>> reporter: stanley has two competing set of attorneys. his defenders are filing appeals to save his life. his private attorneys is fighting the following stanley ready to die. >> there is something about this system where the death penalty just becomes a form of suicide. >> santa clara university's alman is an expert. panel recommended many changes. the study that costs $1 million was published in 2008. >> what improvements have been made? >> nothing. a report has been filed away on the shelf of legislatures.

this is bringing us this unsettled pattern over a thousand lightning strikes in california just today alone. >> we do have clouds around and a chance of showers will continue through saturday. isolated thunder and hail is possible. we have been using this system to rank storms from one through five all season long from winter to spring. five is the severe storm and one is light system and the current one we are going with the one. scattered showers will continue through saturday and rainfall amounts 500 to 4/10 of an inch. there is a potential for thunder and hail tomorrow. tomorrow morning if you are a commuter at 5:00 a.m., you are looking at cloud cover, this model is just updated. 7:00 a.m. some showers beginning to approach. by 8:00 a.m., you are watching to work, you need to make sure you have your rain gear.
