hours after ending their 17-day hunger strike over health concerns. they can't an end to police brutality. they are demanding the firing of greg sur. he will honor the strike and the early voting rally at city hall and it will be postponed in honor of the message. >> these folks are trying to elevate the issue so it did you president just require people to star of or die, but there are other way we can make clear that reform is not just a talking point to the mayor. it is something he should do. >> they are scheduled from 8:30 in the morning until 5:00 in the evening of the. also tomorrow a blue ribbon panel will release the results into the police department. the district attorney convened the panel to see whether there was bias in the department. the public is invited to hear and comment on the panel's report tomorrow night at 5:30.

a preliminary hearing will begin tomorrow for two defendants charged with murder in marin county and san francisco. lyla scott and the accused shooter face life sentences. the suspects are accused of killing therapist steve carter in tear fax and the canadian tourist the -- in the park. the third defendant pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and will testify against the two other suspects. the nephew of the long-time san francisco public defender will appear in court accused of her murder. she was found at her potrero hill home and she was stabbed 40 times. she worked in the public defender's office for three decades. investigators are not saying between them before her death. a san lorenzo man faces

drunk driving charges after slamming his fed ex truck into a chp officer. gregory anthony ramirez was under the influence when he crashed yesterday morning. an officer who was investigating another accident near downtown sacramento was hit. the officer remains in the hospital and is expected to be okay. in santa rosa police recovered more than $10,000 worth of stolen item. take a look at what police say two women took from several stores around sonoma county. it includes baby formula, medicine, teeth whitening strips and other perm hygiene items. the officers were able to arrest one woman and the second ran away. police warned these are popular items often sold on-line and they should be cautious when buying. >> a group of church members found themselves locked out of the place where they worship. abc7 news was at oakland's union baptist church as they knocked on the door. they say their pastor uncovered a dispute over accounting and spending by

church deacons and that created a split in the church. they have not been allowed to come in and worship for more than a month now. >> this is the place i have been coming for for years. it is my sanctuary. it is where i come and release myself. i ask god for forgiveness and i can't do it. >>abc7 news reached out to the church deacons and we were told no comment. san francisco's popular alamo square park will be off limits for nine months starting this tuesday. abc7 news was at the park this afternoon as people enjoyed the outdoors. the entire park will be shutdown as its irrigation system, restrooms and landscaping are upgraded. an east bay mom got breakfast in bed and a available lesson from recovering from grueling cancer treatments. her teacher 1234 her sick-year-old daughter who survived her own battle with the disease. leslie brinkly is here with more on the story. leslie? >> this gets right to your heart.

a sick-year-old girl diagnosed with kidney cancer and over the last year she endured chemo, radiation and multiple surgeries and then her mom gets cancer. >> happy mother's day. this is mommy in bed. >> there was overwhelmingjoy in their home. they are together fighting cancer on two fronts. she was the first to get diagnosed with kidney cancer last summer and it wasn't an easy journey. >> my mom was scared if i was going to stay alive or probably die. >> you made it. >> yes, we made it. our family thought we were done with cancer for the year, but it turns out we weren't. my mom got it too on her leg, skin cancer on her leg. >> melanoma diagnosed in april after they returned from a

weekend. we ended on a dry note. we are rain-free, but we have clouds moving back in. we can see coit tower lit up in blue to cheer on the warriors. the backdrop is with overcast skies and a light easterly breeze will push the clouds through. we are at 55 in san francisco and the same in oakland. 58 in san jose and59 in antioch. mountain view with a temperature of 58 degrees. overnight tonight with that cloud cover overhead, it acts like a blanket. it doesn't let a lot of warmth escape from the surface. numbers are not going to fall too far. we will drop to 48 in santa rosa. 51 in oakland and 52 in san jose and 49 in livermore. we will want the light

jacket. we start off with overcast skies and cool temperatures in the 40s and the lower 50s. future weather as we go hour by hour, time out the clouds and the fog. first thing tomorrow morning at 7:00 in the morning you notice the overcast skies. i think 90% of the bay area is seeing sunshine and the persistent breeze coming off the water. the coast will stay in the 50s under mainly cloudy skies. 75 in antioch and afternoon sunshine. 64 in downtown san francisco. 68 is the high in santa rosa. livermore up to 70 degrees. the only fly in the ointment is pollen levels. the main culprit is june gnaw per -- jo niper, olive and cedar. the sun is as strong as it is in el -- in early july.

and early afternoon the wind will weaken and the clouds will pull back to the coast. a lot of sunshine and the only exception is typical for this time of year. the fog will linger on the coast. highs for your monday, it will be a bit warmer tomorrow than we were today. 71 in concord and 68 in santa rosa. with the cloud cover on the coast 59 in half moon bay and oakland up to 68 degreeses. the next four days tree pollen will be at moderate level. the uv index will be on the high side with a lot of sunshine the next four days. we will see the uv index up to the high levels and that means your unprotected skin can burn in 15 minutes. we'll show you the fog to sunshine on monday and the pattern continues on tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday. picture perfect into the weekend with lots of sunshine and temperatureses are back down to spring-like levels.
