risky stunt coming up. really gives new meaning to shotgun right there on that. . and a good morning to you all. the bay area is planning a very big celebration after the golden state warriors won their second nba championship in three seasons. needless to say, the fans are pretty psyched. >> look at the celebrations outside the oracle arena there in oakland and downtown in san francisco. the warriors did some celebrating of their own with nearly $200,000 worth of moet nectar champagne. the game five score, 129-120 over lebron james and the cleveland cavaliers. warriors' newcomer kevin durant was named mvp of the finals after scoring more than 30 points in each of the five games. durant said winning the title was something he's been working on since he was a kid. >> to win on our home floor is storybook.

i'm so proud of these guys and i'm so proud to be a part of this organization and community. we're going to enjoy this. we wanted this. we wanted this from the beginning of the year, we put in the most work and trusted each other. we're a real team and, you know, i don't even know what to say. let me go celebrate. >> and celebrate, they did, and there was this emotional moment between durant and his mother, wanda. the two of them sharing an embrace on the court, and at one point before his interview on tv, durant's mom even grabbed him by the goatee. when he was 8 years old, durant told his mom that he'd win a championship. >> and she wasn't the only one crashing interview, riley curry, the young daughter of steph curry, she could not wait to celebrate with dad and it did not matter that he was in the middle of his own post win interview. again, riley curry no stranger to the cameras. >> that's one of our highlights for every time the warriors are in the championship and they win. riley stealing the show there. >> good for them. plenty of reasons to celebrate. >> and the big celebration in the streets, a parade planned on

thursday there in the bay area. look at the parties. all right, let's turn now to politics as attorney general jeff sessions prepares to testify in public. >> sessions will face tough questions on capitol hill this afternoon on everything from the russian election meddling to the firing of fbi director james comey. president trump and his daughter ivanka are heading to milwaukee where they'll focus on job training. and white house aides are dismissing a report that the president may fire special counsel. abc's kenneth moton is tracking all this from washington keeping you busy today, kenneth. >> reporter: very busy, diane and kendis. good morning to you. today attorney general jeff sessions is expected to face sharp questioning from the senate intelligence committee, but this morning it's the comments from someone close to president trump that's raising eyebrows. this morning, a trump confidant making a stunning admission. >> well, i think he's considering perhaps terminating the special counsel.

>> reporter: chris ruddy, ceo of conservative newsmax told "pbs newshour" president trump may order deputy attorney general rod rosenstein to get rid of robert mueller, the special counsel investigating alleged collusion between the trump campaign and russia. >> i think he's weighing that option. i personally think it would be a very significant mistake even though i don't think there's a justification. >> reporter: the white house pushing back saying that's not the case and ruddy does not speak for the president. but senior aides confirmed ruddy met with chief strategist steve bannon yesterday. today attorney general jeff sessions forced to recuse himself from overseeing the russia investigation set to testify on capitol hill. >> and nothing but the truth so help you god. >> reporter: sessions expected to take on allegations of perjury during his confirmation hearings for failing to disclose meetings with russia's ambassador. and his role in the firing of fbi director james comey.

last week comey told the same committee during an oval office meeting president trump asked sessions and others to clear the oval office. >> my sense was the attorney general knew he shouldn't be leaving which is why he was lingering. >> reporter: comey says once they were alone, trump asked him to drop the investigation into ex-national security adviser michael flynn. the attorney general will likely invoke executive privilege to keep from publicly discussing his private conversations with the president. kendis and diane. >> all right, and many looking forward to hear what jeff sessions has to say on capitol hill today. thanks, kenneth. >> who says there's no love in washington? there was plenty of it in the cabinet room. >> oh, yeah. >> president trump and his top officials are actually being mocked for it after the first meeting of the entire trump cabinet. >> so the president started by declaring himself one of the most productive presidents ever and then listing his accomplishments. and then it was time for each member to take turns lavishing praise on their boss as he smiled and nodded in approval. >> mr. president, we thank you for the opportunity and the blessing that you've given us to serve your agenda. >> i want to thank you for getting this country moving again. >> you have great hair.

>> but not everyone was so impressed. minority leader chuck schumer responded by tweeting out a spoof video of his staff showering him with compliments and then bursting into laughter. >> some of those comments, you have great hair. a second federal appeals court has ruled against president trump's revised travel ban. the three-judge panel of the ninth circuit found the executive order to block travel from six predominant muslim countries violates immigration law by discriminating against people based on nationality and say they failed to show how their entry would hurt american interests. the president is still hoping for a victory in the supreme court. breaking overnight, dennis rodman is in north korea. the former nba star is one of the few americans to have met with leader kim jong-un. rodman says he doesn't plan to ask kim about the four americans north korea has detained, but he does hope to help relations with north korea. the former chicago bulls star also says he believes president trump approves of his latest visit.

and now to the extreme weather including some blistering heat, dangerous tornadoes and even snow. >> yeah, the heat wave is closing schools early today and smashing records along the way and the high temperatures fueling severe storms. >> debris, big, big debris. >> a violent tornado caught on camera. >> oh, no. oh, no. >> no, no, no. >> oh, no. >> no, no, we're good. we're good. we got to check on those people. >> the twister touching down in southern wyoming tearing apart a barn and ripping a roof off a home. >> oh, my god. >> is anybody in that? >> just one of several tornados in that state all fueled by record-breaking heat from the midwest to the east coast. daily records broken from cleveland to new york city with temperatures reaching the mid-90s, and it's not over yet. philadelphia public schools already closing at noon today because of the heat. and several new jersey districts planning to send students home early, and on the west coast quite the opposite. some higher elevations in

northern california getting a taste of june snow. not a typical june there on the west coast. and we should point out we learned that no one was injured in that tornado in wyoming. take a look at the radar, in the meantime. severe weather is moving through the midwest right now. you can see the strong storms in the dakotas and wyoming where tornado warnings were posted overnight. long night for many people. well, still ahead, how barron trump is already setting fashion trends just days after moving into the white house. and the jury will deliberate in just hours in the case against bill cosby. so will there be a verdict today? plus, a woman comes face-to-face with a shark losing part of her arm. this morning she describes the frightening ordeal.

the bodies of three u.s. servicemen killed in action in afghanistan over the weekend arriving overnight at dover air force base in delaware with vice president mike pence there in attendance. and the pentagon has released the identities of those servicemen, sergeant william bays, corporal dillon baldridge and sergeant eric houck served with the 101st airborne division and the taliban claimed responsibility. one of their fighters infiltrated the army, they say, and was killed in return fire. orlando, florida, is getting back today after a day of emotional ceremonies marking the one-year anniversary of the pulse nightclub massacre. bright lights, prayers and bells capped off last night's ceremony where thousands gathered to hear a final reading of the names of the 49 victims. orlando mayor buddy dyer told the gathering that, quote, no matter what, we are one orlando. and the insurance industry is being critical of headlights

on most suvs. a new study says the lights on most of the three dozen models tested are rated marginal or poor. they apparently do a poor job of lighting the road while causing too much glare for oncoming drivers. only two of those suvs tested had ratings of good, the hyundai santa fe and the volvo xc60. and it looks like first son barron trend is becoming a trendsetter just like his mom. >> the 11-year-old moved into the white house on sunday, but he was seen wearing this t-shirt with the words, the expert. you see it on the front there. in less than one day the shirt sold out at j. crew. this is what you'll see if you try to purchase the $30 shirt online. >> you tried, didn't you? >> out of luck. i did try immediately. that shirt is awesome. all right, when we come back, four inmates are on the loose this morning. we'll show you how they busted out of jail. and the strange sight, why this woman was casually riding on the hood of a car on a highway.

for the strength and energy to get back to doing... ...what you love. ensure. always be you. we're back with a look at today's morning road conditions. drivers will find wet roads in most of the eastern third of the country. flooded roads are likely in the upper midwest and watch out for puddles in the northern rockies. >> if you're flying airport delays are most likely in minneapolis. the jury in bill cosby's sexual assault trial heads into their first full day of deliberations today. >> there was a marathon day six in court that saw cosby's wife camille by his side for the first time during the entire trial. the jury putting in a 13-hour day, in fact, including four hours of deliberations before the judge sent them home for the night. now, today the jury has asked to revisit cosby's testimony more than a decade ago in the civil trial by his accuser. cosby could be sentenced to prison for the rest of his life.

and in another pennsylvania courtroom, a judge is hearing evidence in the penn state hazing case. the defendants walked into court where surveillance video from inside the beta theta pi house was shown. the video shows the final 12 hours of timothy piazza's life. he died after a night of heavy drinking and after taking several falls. a detective also testified saying piazza's body looked like a corpse by the time emergency responders got there. the judge is deciding whether there's enough evidence to go to trial. oklahoma officials are looking for four escaped prisoners just a few months after two of them broke out the very same way from the very same place. surveillance video from the march escape shows them climbing into a ventilation system. the four men are considered extremely dangerous. one is charged with first degree murder. they've been linked to several vehicle thefts since their escape. the sheriff says those prisoners have tried to make contact with family and friends as well. a north carolina woman who lost an arm in a shark attack says she's just happy to be alive. tiffany johnson was snorkeling

in the bahamas, and there was no pain at first. in fact, she didn't even immediately know what happened. >> i wasn't in pain. it just felt like i bumped into something, so i just casually turned to my right. he had my whole arm in his mouth. >> wow. when johnson tried to pull her arm out of what is believed to be a tiger shark, it bit down harder. it took her arm from below the elbow. she has another surgery that is scheduled for this friday to prepare for her prosthetic. and you never know what you'll see while driving, and on a houston highway apparently drivers got a look at a woman perched on the hood of a car. still no word on why she was there or how she stayed on as the car moved along at what looks like a fairly good speed, but the video is making the rounds this morning. >> not sure that's a legal hood ornament. >> i don't think so. >> no. the pittsburgh penguins will celebrate their stanley cup win with a parade tomorrow. and the golden state

warriors will have their parade on thursday. let's get more about their win from our guys at espn. good morning, america. good morning, utica. john buccigross, john anderson. while you were perhaps asleep late last night, there was a basketball game being played, and one team got a big shiny trophy. >> we have crowned a champion. golden state gets the big gold ball. lost the last game but still 3-1 coming home for game five. a year ago that was a disaster. this year it's kevin durant over richard jefferson for three. durant had 29 points through 3 quarters. and guess what, he didn't stop there. warriors up 10 with 5 minutes left. durant finishing. kyle korver was defensively a liability against durant right there. probably not as much. he had 39 points, 14 of 20 shooting. momma is happy. everybody is happy. the warriors win it, 129-120.

>> today is going to be a winner. comfortable temperatures before heat takes off late in the week. live doppler 7 along with satellite showing you mainly clear skies. so outside a live look, you can see the east bay hills camera, just a few puffy clouds on the lower part of your jeep. we're on our way to sunshine, just a light breeze by 4:00, temperatures inland in the low 80s around the bay, super comfortable in the mid-70s and along the coast into the lower 60s. good morning, alexis. >> good morning, drew. we'll see light volume on the road today. a lot of folks may be sleeping in, taking it easy after that celebrating last night. here's a live look at the bay bridge toll plaza. maybe need to get a cash lane or two opened up on the right-hand side but we're looking at light volumes overall and a lot of green on the traffic maps as well. we have a problem leftover from overnight if you're coming from the stockton area into tracy. so i'll talk about that in less than 10.

>> thanks so much, alexis. champions again. >> i'm holding on to this hat. the warriors have captured their second title in just three seasons beating the cavs 4-1. >> they did not hand this to us, friends, this was a close game, in the end, golden state pulled it out with a win and did in the front of their home crowd. this hasn't been done in the bay area since 1974. vegas odds makers will already looking ahead to next seasons and the warriors are heavy favorites to win next year's nba championships. >> and moments after the game ended, dub nation marked another celebration. >> they honored finals mvp kevin durant and his first championship. >> your bill russell 2017 finals mvp, kevin durant. [ cheers and applause ] >> there is he is standing next to his mom, durant led the team throughout the series, scoring more than 30 points each game. after just one season with the dubs, durant says his teammates have made him a better player.
