live where you live, this is abc 7 news. >> you're next. those are the words an accused arsonist mouthed this morning at his first court appearance. 54-year-old marlon coy faces serious charges for the bear fire in the santa cruz mountains which ruined homes and injured firefighters. prosecutors say the suspect's message was aimed at them but they, too, have a message for him. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in santa cruz county courthouse in santa cruz. math? >> reporter: kristen, an intense morning in court this the arson suspect's bail set at

$100,000 bail. it's what he said in court that could get him into even more trouble. marlon coy came face-to-face with district attorney jeff rozell inside a santa cruz county courtroom this morning. and coy had a message. mouthing the words, you're next. rozell told us after the hearing he also had a message for coy, the man accused of starting the bear fire. bring it on. >> let's be honest, he lit a fire that caused an evacuation and burned 300-plus acres. that's not something that happens every day in this county. and it's arson. it's not an accident. and the message should be that we are going to come after you if you do those sort of things in this county with all the resources that we have, and we're going do everything we can to hold you accountable. >> reporter: coy faces 11 felonies from 3 separate cases prosecutors say could end up all being connected to the bear fire. four for arson, three for burglary and four for a shooting on september 28th. sheriff's investigators say coy

was in a relationship with the woman where the bear fire originated. investigators say they have three witnesses who saw it happen. coy was arrested october 17th for allegedly looting a house in the fire zone, and stealing jewelry. >> there was an ongoing dispute about various things. and in terms of any of the specifics, i think at this point it's probably not best to get into the specifics. >> reporter: if convicted on all the felonies, coy could face more than 20 years in prison. now, i did talk to the d. a.'s office. they're looking at the actions in court today by coy to see if they will file more charges related to threatening an officer of the court. reporting live in santa cruz, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> matt, thank you. cal fire is close to fully containing all of the fires in napa and snoeconoma counties. mandatory evacuation zones are cleared. most road blocks have been lifted. tu be,

tubbs and pocket fire 99% contained. the pocket fire burned more than 17,000 acres. the nuns fire is fully contained and burned more than 56,000 acres. the sonoma county sheriff says residents are transitioning to a new normal. new details on a concert fund-raiser to benefit fire victims. some residents, first responders and volunteers will be able to get tickets for free. metallica, the dave matthews band and oakland hip hop artist gez will perform november 9th at a trkt at&t park. they will cover 20% of seats in the stadium. officials say they're trying to balance ticket donations with raising as much money as possible. developing news in san francisco, a man has been arrested after police say he stabbed a safeway employee. it happened around 12:30 this morning at the store on 7th on the richmond district. police say the employee tried to stop the suspect from stealing. and the two got into a fight.

the suspect's dog bit employee several times, and that's when the suspect stabbed the employee in the back. that's what police say, anyway. he was taken to the hospital in critical condition. antioch police are investigating a deadly shooting. it happened around 8:00 last night on pepper tree way. a few blocks south of antioch high school. one person was killed. police have not released any information about a possible suspect. happening today, the family of a 10-year-old boy injured on a water slide in dublin plans to file a lawsuit. video from our media partners at the bay area news group showing the boy getting thrown off of a slide in may at the wave water park. he was not seriously hurt. his parents' attorney says the lawsuit will include the water park, the city of dublin and the slide's manufacturer and contractor. starting tomorrow, get ready to pay more at the pump. the price of gas will go up 12 cents a gallon tomorrow because of the new state gas tax. diesel goes up 20 cents.

farms bought $4,700 in uploaded over 1,100 videos to youtube. happening today, san francisco's supervisors will consider a resolution calling on congress to bring impeachment proceedings against president trump. it points to his firing of former fbi director james comey. the trump campaign's ties to russian interests and the president's financial interests. richmond, oakland, alameda and santa cruz have already passed similar resolutions. new this morning, the white house has released the official portraits of president trump and vice president mike pence. first up is president trump. the portraits were produced by the u.s. government publishing office. take a look there. they'll now be distributed to federal facilities all across the country. let's also look at vice president pence's portrait. this one here. if you like to get a copy of either of these, you will be able to soon. the white house plans to make them available to sell to the public. happening today, the 49ers

according to british media, the incidents allegedly took place from the early '80s to 2015. the news comes one day after the producers guild of america banned weinstein for life. his representative says the oscar-winning producer denies all allegations of nonconsensual sex. a new development in the kevin spacey scandal. netflix just announced it's suspending production on "house of cards" which is filming its sixth season right now. netflix had already previously said the upcoming season would be the show's last. it stresses that the decision to end the drama was made before the spacey scandal, but says it's deeply troubled by the claims. spacey's accused of making sexual advances on a minor 30 years ago. he's the star in one of the executive producers on "house of cards." the calendar says halloween, the retail jichil giants are ge ready for their holiday. a sneak peek at some of the deals around the corner for black friday and which retailer

will give you first dibs. a live look from our east bay hills camera. meteorologist mike nicco is tracking warmer temperatures today for halloween. his trick-or-treating forecast is right after accused of obstructing justice to theat the fbinuclear war, and of violating the constitution by taking money from foreign governments and threatening to shut down news organizations that report the truth. if that isn't a case for impeaching and removing a dangerous president, then what has our government become?

by 7:00. mid 50s by 8:00. we search for the great pumpkin and ghoulish gangs of older kids will still be out trick-or-treating at 9:00. 51 h 54. here's the way it looks from suit row tower. more sunshine as we promised, calmer and warmer today. it will stay this way through at least thursday. then two storms at least friday through monday. i was looking at the medium-range models. there's still a couple more storms after that. so we could have a very active first few weeks of november. all right. temperatures today, see the 70s returning inland. about 67 to 71 there. about 65 to 67 around the bay. 59 to about 62 along the coast into san francisco. tonight, a little more cloud cover. but it's going to be the form of some fog up across the north bay coast into the north bay valleys and right around the golden gate. temperatures from 42 in sachnta rosa. low 50s around antioch and san francisco. storm impact scale, the storms will be fairly, i wouldn't say

weak, they're not going be very strong. they're going to be light. how about we put it that way? they'll bring us occasional rain and downpours. half inch to an inch for most of us through monday. little breezy at times which will take away some of the leaves that are starting to turn their beautiful colors. all right. here we go friday morning. this is after we have a chance for light rain friday after the sunset, thursday night after the sunset. through friday morning. scattered drizzle and light rain. that will be the case through most of friday then steadier rain at least according to this model goes through friday night into saturday morning then into the early afternoon hours it exits down in the south bay. leaving us pretty clear until about noon sunday. and then noon all the way through the evening hours, another batch of some steady rain. that will continue through monday's morning commute. that entire time is going to be snowing in the sierra. this used to be the weather the two models. mow it's the drier. in the first round of rain, about a quarter to a half inch. maybe a little bit more up in the north bay. when all is said and done, a half inch to about an inch and a half from the south bay to the north bay.

bay area traffic is bad, right? all trick, no treat. a new study find it's not the worst in the nation. a human resource consulting firm based in menlo park surveyed workers from 27 major u.s. cities to determine how long people spend commuting. turns out drivers in san francisco spent about an hour a day in traffic. the city ranks number two in the nation. number one spot goes to washington, d.c.. it beat san francisco by all of one minute. d.c. drivers spend a little more than an hour commuting to work each day. coming up on abc 7 news at 4:00, right-wing fire brand milo yunappolis coming to a california campus. those who oppose his views have something planned. using garlic in your next meal, the one thing you should do before cooking with it tonight on abc 7 news at 5:00.
