a man and a a man and a woman got help a man and a woman got help from above after their boat capsized in the atlantic. a coast guard helicopter rescued the pair from the waters as they hung onto the vessel about 60 miles away from atlantic city. they'd been traveling from the bahamas to new york city on the last leg of a two-year trip around the world. they are said to be okay this morning. >> rough ending. a mother in delaware is sharing her terrifying story about being brutally attacked at her horrendous attack in an
interview with our sister station wpbi in philadelphia, this morning she's sounding a warning to other vacationers to all-inclusive resorts. this morning tammy lawrence daly's chilling account of how she was brutally attacked for hours on vacation in the dominican republic. >> he at that point started choking me, strangling me. >> reporter: the wilmington, delaware wife and mother says in january she and her family spent the day enjoying the five-star majestic elegance all-inclusive resort. that night her solo trip for a snack turned into a fight for her life. >> he just plowed into my back. and i just remember that grunt that he made when he hit me. it's like in my nightmares. >> reporter: daly says her unknown attacker dragged her limp body into a dark crawl space. >> all i could think of was that my husband was going to find me dead with my head bashed in. >> reporter: daly says she fought back. the man took off, leaving her for dead. daly's family frantically searching the grounds for her
when she was finally found. >> this was the hardest part, seeing her from the back it didn't look like her. >> reporter: the family calls the dominican police investigation inadequate. no suspect is in custody. daly, who never saw her attacker's face, believes he was wearing a resort uniform. she has this warning for others traveling to lavish resorts. >> it's not safe. it's not safe for women to be alone, to walk alone. they have to walk with somebody else. >> our thanks to our philadelphia station wpbi there for that interview. majestic elegance did not respond to abc news' requests for comment. wpbi says it also reached out to the resort and local police and did not hear back. those images of her -- >> they're haunting, yeah. shows how serious. >> just horrible. >> the family also tells "people" magazine the resort didn't even reimburse them for their trip after all of that ordeal. >> this family says they had to take it into their own hands to search for her and they didn't get much help from the resort. again, we reached out to those local officials and did not hear back.
