>> they contai racist and anti-immigrant content. abc news reporter is live with the story. >> good morning. the flyers have been taken down so students should not see them today on their first day of class. the president of san jose state unersity said in a blog post that the flyers were racist and anti-immigrant. the president says they were posted at other colleges across the country as well. in the blog, the president said, "our community will not tolerate bigotry, hatred, discrimination, and other forms of social violence against individuals or groups on the basis of their race, ethnicity, immigrant status, religion or other identities." she freedom of speech. this denounces white nationalist hate groups. she did not say specifically what the flyers said.
only that they are gone. reporting live in san jose, abc 7 news. new developments in southern california. video surfaces of students giving nazi salutes and engaging in other behavior that people find offensive. you're looking at video taken in garden grove. the latest video emerged after a different clip showed water pole owe players engaging in similar acts last year. parents just learned about what happened and they expressed their outrage during a school board meeting last night. >> we are completely blindsided and we feel outraged. >> you failed miserably. >> we're sorry that our investigation and our transparency with the pacifica community fell drastically short. >> one of the videos was recorded three years ago and it's unclear if it includes any current students. developing news in the trial. today is the last day of deliberations before jurors take a break until after labor day.
we're learning why the judge dismissed three jurors from the ghost ship trial. yesterday the judge eluded to misconduct involving a possible text message with a media link of some kind. jurors were told not to interact with each other or use the internet to look up the case. the judge says that she could criminally sanction two of the jurors for contempt of court. and then the third juror was dismissed because she knew of the illicit communication and didn't report it. >> it seems unlikely that the county is going to start prosecuting jurors. but this certainly puts a serious crimp in the >> the trial may be in jeopardy because one alternative juror remains. they may start with a new jury. can you get the latest news about the ghost ship trial sent to your smart phone or tablet. download the abc 7 news app and enable push alerts for the
updates. harvey weinstein's attorney requesting that the former hollywood producer's trial be moved out of new york his legal team says it makes it impossible for him to get a fair trial. they say that his name haas has been mentioned online by page 6, "the new york post" gossip column more than 11,000 times. the largest visa fraud case in california involves three defendants including a bay area businessman. prosecutors say the san francisco regional center or sfrc exploited the eb 5 visa program. the program gives green cards to investors who contribute $500,000 to a u.s. business that creates at least ten full time jobs. the owner of sfrc, thomas henderson, is accused of lying to investors in china, yanindiad vietnam. he used investor's money to buy
communities. one way in which the scheme is being hidden is the diversion of money raised from later investors to cover over the losses that were being suffered by earlier investors. >> henderson pleaded not guilty yesterday. a third defendant lives in china and hasn't been arrested. >> someone broke into a popular store through sherman's warf in san francisco and cleaned out a case of replica guns. abc 7 news was at the international spy shop on beach street. an employee says the alarm went off yesterday morning. the burglars stole replica ars, pistols, and grenade launchers. no word yet on any arrest. >> all right. let's take a look at what is going on weatherwise. and what we're dealing with is activity planner there. i want to talk about that for a

's going to be warm. watch out if you're walking the dogs or any other animals for that matter. maybe getting a lit hot on the pavement. check out what is going on with the bay. we're going to have issues with the small craft advisory. now san francisco, waking up in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. as you look around, we have 51 in american canyon. it is definitely cooler there. a lot of mid to upper 50s. all right. let's go to our neighborhoods. the east bay valley, 61 this morning. nearing the low 80s by noon. look at. this the mid 90s from 2:00 to 5:00. the air conditioning weather is back. peninsula, not quite as warm. we'll be around 80 at 1:00. low 80s around 5:00 and down to 76 at 7:00. and for the you south bay, the last stop this go around, mid
50s. we'll hang out in the mid 80s for the better part of the afternoon hours. look at all that sunshine today. all right. take a look at the seven day forecast coming up here. >> hi, mike. good morning. we had a couple stalls. a couple fender benders, we're seeing slowing right now on the pass as you make your way to the pass. there is a high wind advisory. traffic is heavy already out of tracy. so the drive times from tracy to dublin has grown. it's now yellow at 43 minutes. but westbound to concord, still delay free at 6:00 minutes. it is also green southbound 101 to san francisco at 17 minutes. the ride across the bridge, still looking good right now. that's west bound traffic past the toll plaza. heading out towards san mateo and foste city, no problems at
all. and as we take a look at the bay bridge toll plaza, a minor wait for some of the cash paying lanes. looking great right now into san francisco. >> thank you. happening today, you're going to see more police officers near campuses in the oakland unified school district. police say they will conduct a back to school traffic enforcement campaign near schools. it is happening around 7:30 this morning and again at 1:00 p.m. it's encourage drivers to slow down and be extra aware of students on the road. >> in the south bay, students are taenlding an elementary school in mountain view that has no power. it is relying on a diesel powered generator. >> no one is sure when the permanent power will be installed. >> the power shuts off every evening at 6:00 p.m. the new school is relying on a generator. over the summer, construction crews of the school try to install a utility box on

was visited recently by the fbi. >> they were super cool. they just wanted to make sure i wasn't, like, some kind of actual terrorist. >> the single event has now spiralled into a weekend long alien enthusiast festival. >> i created a joke and playing video games. it's taken off to this absolutely wild monster thing. >> that's coming up at 7:00 a.m. that's your "gma first look." walmart is suing tesla for negligence after solar city solar panels started fire to several stores. >> tesla acquired solar city in 2016. the toll ar systems were installed on the roof tops of more than 200 walmart stores. in the lawsuit, walmart claims there have been at least seven fires related to those solar panels. walmart is demanding that tesla remove the solar panels from all of the stores and pay for damages. facebook has a new feature that allows some users to block the company from gathering information about them on outside web sites and apps. users will be able to turn off tracking with the button similar to a clear history button on

also look going. train 1 report nothing delays. bart also look going. the slow spot this morning is westbound 580. no big surprise. you make your way through the pass, there is a high wind advisory tracy to dublin is 43 minutes. we got green on westbound 4 rein southbound 101. 5:20. call is set to build the largest wildlife cropping in the world. it will span highway 101 in los angeles allowing mountain lions, deer, and coyotes a safe route from one side to the other. the wildlife federation is the chief fund-raiser for that xbroekt. last month the $87 million crossing entered the final design phase. mostst money came from private sources. >> what you're seeing with the 101 freeway is it is actually acted as an ecological barrier. and what it's doing is creating an island of the santa monica islands cut off from the rest of
the world. >> completion is expected by 2023. we told but cat cafe in oakland and maybe you heard of like owl cafes in japan. well now there is a raccoon cafe in ukraine. we're told they can get up to 30 minutes for people to snuggle up to the furrey creatures. the owner said he got the raccoons when they were babies at a farm. he said he studied the animals and talked with vets before bringing those raccoons into his cafe. i would hope so. visitors say not everyone has access to raccoons at home. like, no one. anyway. so it's nice to pet one in a cafe. i love looking at raccoons. i think mico the kraccoon is a underrated character in disney. >> i don't trust them. >> here's the thing, you can open a cafe like this very easily in san francisco.

side. really no major problems on bay area freeways at this point. we've got a pretty nice ride around the bay area. southbound 680 walnut creek to dublin, 13 minutes. its also green. southbound 101 to san francisco. 51 minutes. >> all right. thank you so much. incredible story of survival this morning after a plane went down in the pacific off half moon bay. >> you can see on the map exactly where that plane crashed. the two people onboard are fine. they were even laughing about the situation as they were recording themselves being rescued. abc 7 news reporter is here with some amazing video. good morning. >> good morning. there are so many lawyers to this situation. this started as an air-to-air photo shoot. did it not turn out as planned. but then the pilot recorded the whole rescue process. 34-year-old david lesh and his friend were flying in his brand new beechcraft bonanza when it lost all power. he couldn't get the engine back
up and running. overhead, lesh's friend was pie the loing the lead plane and watched as the beechcraft hit the water. he first called lesh and then air traffic control. he reported the moment he and cayla climbed on the wing. they were seen laughing in the video and then could be seen bobbing in the ocean once the plane sank. >> we're going to go fly over the golden gate bridge and do the whole bay tour. didn't make it there. >> what is amazing is there was another aircraft on scene that quickly responded, contacted air traffic control. they knew to contact an airborne coast guard asset and get us on scene quickly. >> the coast guard is calling the entire rescue process a meeshg this will morning. miracle this morning. i agree. >> thank you. we had dramatic video of a shooting on a crowded market street in san francisco. take a look at your screen in a moment. you're going to see a man start to fire as he runs down the
sidewalk. >> hard to believe this happened. it was 5:30 yesterday afternoon. you can see the chaos, people running for safety. one man was hit. his injuries are not life threatening and he is not cooperating with investigators. a single gunshot was heard seconds before the burst of gunfire. they reported seeing the person firing the shot standing in the middle of the street. he is still at large this morning. >> a new subway station will honor long time powerbroker rose pak following a heated debate. pak died in 2016. she pushed for years to get the central subway built. last night people waited for hours to speak to the board. their opinions reflected how polarizing a figure she remains. >> any time she wants to get things done, she doesn't ask us. she just goes and does it on her own. if she doesn't like what you're doing, she'll just ram it down your throat or threaten you or bully you or demean you or extort you or terrorize you.
>> rose willed this project into existence. and it was her tenaciousness, persistence and, yes, her bullying that got us to this place. >> the station will be called china town rose pak station and they hope to open that subway ne year. a survivor of the nazi invasion during world war ii is facing eviction from his home because he can't afford the high rer rent that the landlord wants to charge. he immigrated to the u.s. after the nazis grove him and his family from the soviet union in 1941. he has lived in the dunes apartment on shoreline drive since 2002. he speaks limited english and his daughter translated for us. >> translator: it was very close to depression. it was the heaviest feeling i could ever experience. it is so painful and so upsetting. >> he filed a complaint with the state accusing his landlord of discrimination.
landlord margaret tam declined an interview after speaking with her attorney. we want to hear your ideas about building a better bay area where you live. share them by joining our better bay area group on facebook. the suspect in a viral video of an attack outside a san francisco condo building is in jayne jail this morning. austin james vince enlt appeared in court yesterday. that was related to a separate case. he's accused of attacking a woman and her friends as they waited for a ride share in soma. that incident happened in february. the judge released vincent last week in the doucondo attack. the new allegations led her to change her mind and keep him in jail. the oakland fire department contained a fuel spill from a boat that sank in the oakland estuary. they tweeted out the photos. they placed 300 feet of boom around that sunken yesterday. fish and wildlife were contacted
because of the leaking fuel. >> they're putting down pads that is soaking up the gasoline that is on top of the water. the gasoline will float to the surface. >> it appears no wildlife is affected. coming up, it is president trump versus himself. the mixed messages he is sending on guns, taxes, and greenland. and lori laughlin refused to cut a deal and now she may be having second thoughts. >> we have a clear, cool morning. but it's kind of deceptive of about what is to come. >> you walk outside, it's going to be another cool day today. feels so great. look at the dew on the cars and grass and then later on, no, hot again. here's a look at our temperatures. 53. and 56 in redwood city. everybody else in the upper 50s to near 60 degrees. take you to half moon bay. 59 in san francisco. look at that. 52. we have 60s around concord.
63. livermore, 57. here's a look at walnut creek. 59. look south on 680. no drizzle this morning. much drier for commute. mass transit, cool and then hot this afternoon. it will be breezy on the bay once again. small craft advisory. all right. for the north bay. we have 55 at 7:00. we jump to the 60s two hours later. two hours after that, 70s. two hours after. that 80s. yeah, two hours after that into the 90s. that's hay huge spread. some of the biggest spreads out side of the desert in the entire country. east bay, 60s through 9:00. then we hang out in the 70s through the better part of the day. we'll reach 80s around 3:00, 4:00. san francisco, much more sunshine today. how about low to mid 70s from lunch all the way through the afternoon hours and even into the evening hours? going to be a great day to be out in san francisco. now let's see if it's a great day to, well, be anywhere on the

millions of americans are bracing for severe weather. one of yesterday's tornadoes demolished several buildings in iowa near des moines. drivers dealt with flooded streets. now this same weather system is moving east towards the great lakes and the northeast. and powerful storms could hit as far east as vermont.
look at this graphic i put together. it stretches from near billings all the way through the high plains. the midwest. the ohio river valley. they increase from a marginal chance to a slight chance of severe weather in new england. all right. excessive heat and drier. that's what we're talking about. some of that trying to slip our way. it goes into the central valley. that is comfortable. 85 in los angeles. that is warm even with the cloud cover. low to mid 80s in the high country. we'll keep mid 80s for friday, saturday, sunday. grab the polarized sunglasses. >> a court dismissed a lawsuit challenging san jose's land deal with google. in december the city council approved the sale of property around the station so the
company's plan mega campus. they say the council wasn't transparent in the negotiations. they're trying to force the city to release all records regarding the deal. google is eyeing an october date to submit plans to san jose for review. the company will hold open houses to give the public a preview. >> president trump is sending multiple mixed messages on guns, payroll taxes and greenland. >> first, the president is backing off any new background checks. again, callingmental health the actual problem. the position change came after a lengthy conversation with the head of the nra. the president telling him does he not support universal background >> payroll tax is something we think about and people would like to see that. >> president trump canceled a planned trip to denmark after the country said greenland isn't for sale. white house officials down played the seriousness of any
