november.. his defense will have 30- days to appeal the death sentence... which they say they plan to do../// ((brian loftus)) > the f-b-i is now monitoring a standoff at a oregon... involving nevada's infamous bundy family. the armed militia is protesting a decision by a federal judge to re-sentence 73 year old dwight hammond and his 46- year-old son steven. they're expected to turn themselves in sometime today. the men claimed they set the fires to protect their property from wildfires. the ranchers were convicted of arson 3 years ago and served time, but a judge ruled their sentences weren't long enough... and the hammond's are frustrated about it: ((dwight hammond: its not about me. its about america. and, somehow weve got to get the wheels back on this wagon because they are flying off. )) ammon bundy....the son of nevada rancher cliven bundy is among the dozens of people now occupying several buildings on the federal property. the bundy family says the ultimate goal of the protest... is to turn the land over to

the first traffic death in their jurisdiction this year. investigators say a 56- year- old woman was jay walking last night.. when she was hit on durango... south of sahara. officers say the woman was struck by a jeep wrangler and was pronounced dead on scene. the driver cooperated cooperated with police. metro however is frustrated.. because we're only a few days into the new year, and already a (( sgt. richard strader/metro fatal detail: "here we are again, it's january 3rd, last year we didn't have our first fatal metro detail until january 5th.. so we are starting out sooner than we did last year, and we are starting out with an autopedestrian collision.")) interesting way... to get rid of their christmas trees. a lot of people are taking trees to the company goats on the go. they just drop the old decoration off at the farm... and the animals devour it. once the christmas tree is stripped of leftover decorations.. like tinsel and ornaments... it's pretty healthy for the animals: (( aaron steele, farmer-goats on the go, "one it gives the goats some variety and two, christmas trees actually have tannins in them that help the goats deal with internal parasites that they're susceptible to." )) ((sherry swensk)) during the summer months... the goats are hired as an eco- friendly way to clear-out overgrown fields around town. /// ((sherry swensk)) > while we don't know of a goat farm around town to drop off your christmas tree... you can recycle it! u-n-l-v and other community partners teamed up for the free program that

((brian loftus)) 59-year-old otis holland went on the lam... and was arrest in mexico back in 2012.. which was even featured on "america's most wanted." he has pleaded not guilty to 17 felony charges... including child sexual assault.. lewdness and bribing a witness. he could face life in prison with or without the possibility of parole if he's convicted of the sexual assault charges. officials say jury selection could take days.. because of the case's high profile./// ((kirsten joyce)) > we now know the names of the metro officers who shot and killed a man holding a cell phone...which they thought was a gun. the department identified them as sergeant robert bohanon and
