but the mountains are getting major snow. a winter storm warning just wrapped up at four a.m. but a winter storm advisory runs this afternoon into tomorrow. the national weather service is predicting another 6 inches or more of snow up in the higher elevations of the spring mountains. including lee canyon ski resort. if you plan on heading up there for skiing or sledding, make sure to be prepared and check road conditions. you can do that by dialing 5-1-1. we have more information on conditions on las vegas now dot com./// adlib weather chat

california are being asked to evacuate... after storms caused by el nino hit the area. the area received record rainfall yesterday... the national weather service says nearly one and a half inches of rain fell at the los angeles airport. it beat a record set back in 1979. flooding closed roads and led to mud and rockslides... two more storms are expected this week...and that could bring inches of more rain. flash flood watches are in effect throughout today in several counties.///

((demetria obilor)) the talk of the show is all about cars. a number of automakers will unveil their plans and prototypes for electric... connected.. and self-driving vehicles. in all.. 9 automakers will hold news events at c-e-s. when it comes to electric cars.. we heard from faraday future or "f-f" they unveiled their f-f-zero-1 tuesday... they call the electric car a tablet on wheels. volkswagen is also expected to show off a battery- powered microbus.. that could go on sale next

and general motors will uncover its final version of the chevy bolt... an electric car with a 200 plus mile range. next are self- driving cars.. companies like ford.. google.. and mercedes benz are expected to reveal their autonomous or self-driving cars. these vehicles take the driver out of the equation. some have already hit the streets here in las vegas. and last year.. a self-driving semi even drove over the hoover dam. connected cars a big trend as well-- these are cars with wifi and internet access.. so you can work on the go. harman not only created a self-driving car or it's l-i-v. it also partnered with microsoft office.. to incorporate it's suite of outlook, word, excell and powerpoint.. into it's vehicle... so when you're sitting in your car... you can answer emails, type up projects.. and get all your work done. now.. these are just some of the things we're expecting to see during c-e-s. no word on when the prototypes will actually be street
