((michael stevens)) brian, kirsten... on tuesday, we spoke with the mayor in her office on the 7th floor of city hall. we went into a number of topics... but started with her feelings of 20-15. the mayor said there were a lot of successes... one of those...

she mentioned its been a slow time coming out of the great recession... and the small businesses helped us pull through... some of the highlights she mentioned... rick harrison's new pawn plaza on las vegas boulevard and tony hsieh's continued work downtown: ((mayor carolyn goodman // city of las vegas: we've seen some real forward steps. we find too that these 42 million plus visitors that are coming to las vegas -- there's a real excitement and energy to come downtown. because it's elbow to elbow. it's restaurant, tavern, place to go, hotel. one after another and the best thing that i saw was the remarkable gaming revenue that was coming into our hotels. )) ((michael stevens)) the mayor also said she's proud that once blighted shopping centers are filling up again... and foreclosed homes are being occupied. while there were a lot of successes in the mayor's eyes there were also some disappointment' s... some of those... the number of pedestrian deaths

and the soccer stadium she was pushing so hard for... not coming to fruition. the mayor is still positive on the topic of a major league team coming to the valley. she praised bill foley's efforts on bringing a hockey team to the city... and truly believes a soccer stadium is not out of the question in the future. brian, kirsten? t-mobile announced the new las vegas arena will officially be named "t-mobile arena." the cell phone carrier made the announcement a few hours ago. the las vegas band, the killers, and wayne newton are scheduled to headline the grand opening on april 6th. the 20- thousand seat venue is located on the strip behind the monte carlo and new york- new york. t-mobile customer will get exclusive access to seat upgrades, early ticket sales.. and fast track vip entry./// sherry how's the weather today? sherry swensk it's breezy and cool.

break the story of robert moore. according to metro police on december 23rd... moore picked up woman near washington and f street and went to an abandoned building a block away. the report states moore gave the woman 55 dollars and a bag of crack for sex. we spoke with jackie poole who works at "youth with a mission" ... a faith- based group who reaches out to prostitutes. pools tells us this case is worse than others: ((jackie: that breaks my heart that it was a corrections officer. i mean, it kind of goes to show that it's bigger than we know it is when our own officers are included in the masses who are purchasing women and negating a woman's worth through that.)) ((kirsten joyce)) officers say moore told them this was not his first time with the woman. he now faces a misdemeanor charge for prostitution and is on paid administrative leave./// ((brian loftus)) > just a week into the new year... and metro police are investigating their second deadly crash. investigators say a 55- year- old woman was hit and killed

district had to make an emergency repair nearby the intersection. while crews were addressing the leak, they cut the underground wiring that detects traffic. clark county public works took action and reprogrammed the signal, so it will serve all phases of traffic. the traffic signal will resume normal operation once the water district fixes the wiring. repair work is scheduled for this week. hey! what's driving you crazy? send your traffic question to traffic eight at las vegas now dot com. back to you. ((michael stevens)) brian, kirsten... while the mayor is expected to tonight... she made it clear safety is her top priority in 20-16. the mayor complemented the efforts of the sheriff and metro police department in the last year... specifically citing their years eve. the mayor said safety is the key
