joyce. this morning.. the valley is still reeling from the news that u-n-l-v head coach dave rice.. resigned from his position. ((brian loftus)) 8 news now reporter michael stevens is live at u-n-l- v.. with more.. from rice... and the university. ((michael stevens)) brian and kirsten. after the rocky season start.. and the past few weeks of losses.. the university says they had to make a change. dave rice: its a great program and i'm just honored i got to be apart of it ((michael stevens)) former u-n-l-v head coach dave rice... had nothing but good things to
hours after he resigned his position dave rice: i want to do what's right for everyone involved, that's my personality i'm a team guy, and its important to me that i make sure that tina and i met for quite a long time today and we mutually agreed that i would step aside 19:25 ((michael stevens)) rice was in his fifth season with running rebels. he had an overall record of 95 and 54. his win total declined each season.. since winning 26 games during the 2011-2012 season. that year.. he took us the first round of the n- c-double a tournament.. tina kunzer- murphy: you know he loves what he does, and david rice is committed to his players, it's been a tough day ((michael stevens)) athletic director tina kunzer-murphy says she's grateful for everything rice has done for not just the rebels.. but the university. tina kunzer- murphy: he's been a friend, he's family for years, and i want to thank him for everything he's done for this great university ((michael stevens)) she says...

((michael stevens)) brian, kirsten... the head coaching change comes in the middle of rice's fifth season. now... assistant coach todd simon has task to change things around... a major task... for someone with no head college coaching experience: (( todd simon: it's a tremendous honor and i will do my best to live up to the legacy and the high standards that we have here at unlv. )) ((michael stevens)) todd simon is in his third year as a coach with the u-n-l-v men's basketball program and is in his first as associate head coach. before u-n-l-v... simon spent six seasons as associate head coach at findlay prep. there...he led the team to a 35 and one record. now...

the process of sending guzman to the u.s. to faces charges. while his lawyers have already filed motions to fight extradition, a u.s. law enforcement source told cbs news "el chapo" is expected to be in the u.s. within the next four to six weeks. guzman was captured friday after a violent shootout with mexican marines. he had been on the run since july..always managing to stay one step ahead of investigators. his downfall may have been a meeting with actor sean penn in october. mexico's attorney general says guzman reached out to producers and actors because he wanted to himself. actress kate del castillo helped bring guzman and penn together. the pair were photographed during a secret rendezvous in the mexican jungle and authorities say that meeting hideout. after years of denying he was in

((kirsten joyce)) > many americans are afraid of going to the dentist... but there's new therapy that can help ease the fear. the study was recently published in the british dental journal... new research shows cognitive behavioral therapy..or talk therapy....can help. british researchers met with over 100 people to focus on replacing negative thoughts with positive ones... and gave them the skills to address their fear. after the therapy, nearly 80 percent of the patients didn't have to be sedated during their appointment.///
