((kirsten joyce)) the coast guard said debris has been spotted two miles off the coast. no word yet if anyone survived the crash./// ((kirsten joyce)) > police are looking for a killer... who opened fire on two men last night... killing one of them. this all happened just after 7 last night.. near rancho and washington. police tell us two men showed up to a home to solve some kind of dispute... when someone in the home opened fire on them. a man possibly in his 70's was shot numerous times and died in the driveway. a second man was shot in the head and taken to the hospital in critical condition. we are waiting to hear from police on how he is doing, and what started this dispute./// ((kirsten joyce)) > there has been an outpouring of love and support for rene angelil... the husband and manager of celine dion. angelil lost a long battle with throat cancer at the age of 73. palace.. draws in show business.. said " we will miss you friend". she has canceled shows until february. the pair met when she was just 12-years- old.. and married in 19-94. they have three children

((kirsten joyce)) > republican presidential candidates are hitting the campaign trail today... after another debate last night. the spotlight... and today one is facing the comments he made. craig boswell has more. donald trump is fresh off what many are calling his best debate performance yet. donald trump/(r) presidential candidate/courtes y: msnbc "morning joe") "all of the different online polls had me winning by a lot. i really, really look at that, i want to see, how did i do? i check the online polls." trump spent most of thursday night's fox business debate taking on rival ted cruz and argued the texas senator isn't eligible to run for the presidency because he was born in canada. (donald trump/(r) presidential candidate) "there are other attorneys that feel, and very, very, fine constitutiional attorneys, that feel that because he was not born on the land he cannot run for office." values. the media." this is the first time cruz and trump have openly attacked each other in a debate. "it's such a shame when friendships go bad." cbs news political director john dickerson says cruz's "new york values" statement was aimed at one influential group of voters. ( john dickerson/cbs news political director) "he's talking to evangelicals who are voting in iowa and saying 'he's not one of you.' and that's quite effective to sow those kinds of seeds of doubt." the pundits say one other candidate helped himself thursday night. ((kirsten joyce)) > after months of rallies and negotiations.. clark county teachers are now receiving a new contract. all 7 trustees approved a new 2 year contract at thursday's board meeting. it means more than 18 thousand teachers will received a pay raise. the deal also includes a bump in new teacher's salary. their base pay will now be 40 thousand dollars a year. current teachers will also see an increase in their salary.. based on their education and experience./// ((sherry swensk)) wow, beautiful blue skies at noon... after starting out with some partly cloudy skies and a rush of clouds and some light snow in the mountains this morning.

i wish we could look forward to a weekend full of sunshine, but that's not the case... the clouds will be back. and they will likely stick around for the weekend. .......... let's check temps right now where we have neighborhoods moving into the 50s now and some gusty west-northwest winds at times - especially to the north and northwest of the valley. ............... morning lows were not as cold as they've been most of the week because we had some overnight clouds and that kept temps a little bit milder - by about 5 degrees or so. ................ so a sunny friday, but a cloudy weekend is coming. the temps should actually increase and we could find some low 60s which will be a nice change. ...........

hospitals around the country have a problem.. sometimes, patients get sick.. from something inside the medical center. hospital workers try to prevent patients from being exposed to bacteria like c-difficile.... but a new high-tech system may help them.. even more. paula francis explains in medical breakthroughs. ((paula francis)) at the hospital of the unversity of pennsylvania, after the work crew cleans, a robot is deployed in rooms of patients with compromised immune systems, like cancer patients. they may be more susceptible to infectious disease. doctor pegues (pa-geese) led a method. "we found the rates and the difficile, or c. diff went down 25 percent." ((paula francis)) the robot cleans the room in 16 minutes. researchers say that doesn't affect the turnaround time. a win for the hospital and also for sick patients waiting to get into a room.and leave without getting even sicker. --------------------------------
