- started as a robbery on the 3800 block of s. maryland pkwy. - the suspect fired his weapon during the robbery and took off in a dark colored tahoe. - officers caught up with the suv and the suspect shot at officers hitting the squad car once. - metro's air unit followed the suspects car to just outside the wynn. the suspect crashed his car ran through the wynn and was arrested in the wynn encore's valet. - police say the man was unarmed - he faces charges including armed robbery with a deadly weapon, attempted murder on a police officer and other charges. - no one was injured. - detectives are following up. few 70s in our southern neighborhoods. .................. highs today across the region a bit wrmer then yesterday -- but still likely remaining below seasonal average in te very low 100s. .................... our flash flood watch only to exterminate bees... is fighting for his life this morning after he this happened yesterday in the southwest..... near russell and grand canyon .. three exterminators tried to remove bees from a home .. two were wearing protective gear, the man who was attacked, was not. clark county fire believes the man was stung at least 200 times. no word if these exterminators were licensed./// ((kirsten joyce)) and we're getting a first look inside the animal foundation where 550 roosters were taken after a cockfighting ring was busted. they were seized wednesday from a property in the northeast valley.

and silvester gayton, now face counts for owning, training or selling an animal to fight. this is the largest rooster seizure in county history./// ((patrick walker)) the nevada supreme court will not allow a measure on rooftop solar rates ... to appear on the november ballot. an initiative to restore more favorable rates to customers was turned down by a lower court... and the state supreme court upheld that decision. question 5 aimed to kill a law that let the p-u-c increase rates for customers. the rate hike caused quite a bit of upset in the solar commuty and sparked protests, as well as layoffs./// ((kirsten joyce)) for the first time ever .. there will be non- stop flights between las vegas and china. the historic announcement was made yesterday hainan airlines will begin service december second, with flights on mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. the flight from beijing to las vegas will take 13 hours. this is a big win for our local economy ... tourism leaders say chinese tourists tend to stay longer and spend more money./// ((patrick walker)) a major ramp along us 95 shuts down this weekend

this is 8 news now good day)) ((kirsten joyce)) hackers from across the world were in las vegas this week sharing the problems they've uncovered. ((patrick walker)) >> some 11- thousand cyber gurus showed off their craziest hacks to show just how vulnerable systems could be... like atm's, chips on debit cards, even vehicles. last year, two explained how they remotely hacked a jeep's in-car computer system through the internet. it forced chrysler-fiat to recall 1.4 million vehicles. this year ... they connected their laptop directly to the jeep's computer system: (((mireya) how were you able to turn the steering wheel? were the computer telling it to steer." )) ((patrick walker)) >> they were able to quickly turn the steering wheel from their laptop in the back seat causing the s-u-v to swerve across the road and crash into a ditch. they say you shouldn't install those devices in your car that allow insurance companies to track your driving habits. they say that makes it easier for the hackers to access your car's computer. another potential target for hackers is that chip on your new credit or hackers can steal your info and send it over the internet to a rigged up atm machine to withdraw your money. all while you're waiting for the machine to read your card: (((tod beardsley) it's that window that allows attackers to // kind of beam it over to, over the internet, to a device such as this. )) ((patrick walker)) >> conference goers say "hack work" has become increasingly important, as more personal information is finding its way onlineand into the wrong hands.///

100s. .................... our flash flood watch only lingering for portions of lincoln and nw arizona until 5am this morning. ..................... satellite/radar showed this mesoscale convective vortez over southern nevada that wrecked havoc on our temps. -- unusually cool with storms. the lack of afternoon heating prevented more storms from developing yesterday afternoon. today we could still see the threat for storms -- mainly in higher elevation. if skies can clear a bit more look for possible convection over higher terrain in lincoln and mohave counties -- although much lower confidence in models today. ................... that extended forecast does show a warmup on the way... low00 returning to near normal and 105 degrees by monday. thanks, sherry. now to demetria for a look at the roads.

california just announced two babies were born with zika- related birth defects. the mothers contracted zika while traveling abroad. this comes the same week as the first locally transmitted cases were reported in the miami, florida area. authorities there are now trying to combat the infected mosquitos with by spraying insecticide from the air over a 10- square mile area. there are concerns about combating the zika virus because money is running out. to approve emergency funding for the war against zika./// ((kirsten joyce)) the summer olympics officially kick off in rio tonight. southbound 95 exit to south rancho will close down for the next several weeks so crews can work on project neon. the closure starts sunday at 9:00 p.m. and will last through mid-september. drivers can exit at mlk and use bonanza to get over to rancho. this detour will be signed. project neon is the almost

it up. most of the receipes just recommend adding salt and tomato sauce ... but katie decided to cook up her own receipe. and while she working hard at the stove ... is slice up some carrots. it did alright but a simple shreeder would have wokred better. then i move on to apples ... and it wokred. finally i spiral a potato. lucy statue that went viral last year? well ... she's back! ball ... in memory of the late actress and comedian at a new york park named after her in her hometown. people on facebook launched a campaign last year called "we love lucy! get rid of this statue." it worked because another sculptor was hired for a do-over.. the new statue will be unveiled saturday... and says she hopes lucy fans love it!/// sherry, how's the weather today?
