((tedd florendo)) another hot day in the region. yesterday we tied a record with 111 for the high and we may be on track to getting close to the 111 record high today. temps certainly above average for this time of year as well. conditions remain dry with single digit humidity readings, but we did see the increase of wind as forecasted. gusts have been up to 30 in many neighborhoods today. ................................ ... ............. evening forecast shows temps in evening and hot at 11 o'clock. we'll start off the morning extra warm again under clear skies. winds expecting to decrease a little and then return to some breezes again tomorrow again.///

((katie)) christianne we were first to arrive outside the front of this nw tj maxx store once police opened the road into the shopping center .... the seven different women we spoke to were visibly shaken... one of the women was inside with her four children! (("we were in the back and i just heard someone come in and yell 'get down get down everyone down and saw people
setting off the alarm and hid behind a fence. lost my keys and my purse and everything... so we were waiting with the cops once they finally came.... but it was definitely scary." )) (( all i heard was the guy with the gun, he was like 'everyone down, everyone down!'....there was a lady with her 4 kids...shes like theres a guy with guns and i was like 'oh my gosh!" )) now...while police were taking statements from witnesses... other shopping cart -- where we were able to see what appeared to be that gun. officers have taken that away now as evidence. ((katie)) back live... you can see this tj maxx store is still closed... now... thankfully the women we talked to were okay. in fact law enforcement tell us no one inside the store during the robbery and altercation was injured. the male suspect has been taken into custody.
her mother -- who doesn't speak english -- was directly behind the man who was holding the gun to the woman who was robbed. she told us that the man had asked that lady if she had dropped a red purse...when she said no... he started yelling at her... before yelling at other customers inside the store. /// happening right now.. determing the future of clark county schools. we're talking about the re-organization of the district. a powerful testimony this afternoon came from the clark county education association, who are hopeful that legislators will support them tonight. the debate has circled around parent involvement, student achievement, and legal services. under the proposed plan, each school would be independently run. the principal, a team of teachers, and parents would be in charge of hiring and budgeting ... rather than the superintedent. now, advocates are making a last-ditch effort to sway if legislators choose to move forward with the plan, it'll then be given to the state superintendent for final approval. today .. they discussed policy changes that could make rooftop solar energy affordable for new customers. advocates in nevada hoped to take their cause to voters after a rate hike this year. they gathered more than double the number of signatures needed.. to put a referendum on the november ballot. but the nevada supreme court declared it was unfit. the fight continues as advocates are now trying to sway state lawmakers on the issue. the breaking news happening near cajon pass. the "blue cut fire" erupted shortly after 10-30 a.m. and has charred 55 hundred acres. mandatory evacuations were issued for residents of the cajon valley west of the 15 freeway to highway 2.
