2 deadly shootings that happened just minutes apart from each other in different areas of town. circle... near paradise and twain.. the second shooting happened on lake mead boulevard near martin luther king.. in the north circle shooting police responded to shots fired and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. he was taken to the hospital where he later died. no word if an arrest has been made. ((patrick walker)) just four minutes earlier.... officers responded to shots fired in a parking lot next the west las vegas library. the teenage vicitm was found with a gunshot wound in the chest.

later died. the shooter was seen running from the scene but there is not a clear description. so far no one has been taken into custody./// ((kirsten joyce)) a car crash on the east side of the valley claimed the life of one person. this happened at boulder highway and russell just before three yesterday. witnesses told police the driver of a dodge van was making a turn when someone driving an s-u-v crashed into the passenger side of it . our crew spoke with witnesses who were first on the scene to help the victims. stopped everything everybody stopped. there were about 10 or 15 people in the area and they ran to the red van." )) ((kirsten joyce)) the passenger of the van was pronounced dead at the scene. the driver, nick white, told a witness the passenger was his wife maxine. nick was taken to sunrise hospital with serious injuries./// ((patrick walker)) colin kaepernick is standing firm for his decision not to stand. how the quarterback is defening his decision to ride

san francisco 49ers quarterback colin kaepernick fueled more criticism last night as the quarterback once again refused to stand during the star spangled banner. the q-b took a knee alongside teammate eric reid during the national anthem the two declined to stand for the anthem before a preseason game

the crowd erupted in boos as kaepernick took the field to start the game... immediately leading the 49ers to their first touchdown. kaepernick's actions first captured attention last week when he stayed seated during the national anthem at another preseason game protesting what he calls -oppression of minorities in america. in a post game press conference kaepernick told reporters the whole controversy is a misunderstand ing. back to you./// ((kirsten joyce)) some big changes are on the way for the fifth largest nation.... the state board of education has unanimously voted to reorganize the clark county school system. it's the second of three major hurdles of this plan becoming law. it will take most of the control and decision making away from the a central district and hand it over to principals, teachers and parents. basically... each ccsd school will be it's own precinct. some trustees fear it will divide the valley in to have and have not's. but advocates claim money will be dolled out through a formula
