two people are dead this morning after an apparent murder suicide in henderson. we'll see how this all started. ((kirsten joyce)) >> and i'm kirsten joyce police responded to the home on blythswood square at approximately six p-m last night near the anthem community in henderson.... and found two people dead inside. police tell us both victims are in their late thirties or early forties....

michelle french henderson police department: "this is a very difficult situation that occured, and it is a tragic situation. at this point, we're going to be doing our invsestigation to see what exactly happened and we're going to be looking at all avenues that may have happened with this case.")) ((kirsten joyce)) >> police have been out to this home once in the past year for a domestic related service call. police add they don't have any reason to believe anyone else shooting./// ((brian loftus)) a 47 year-old woman is dead this morning after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing lake mead at webster -- near civic center. the woman was rushed to umc trauma where she later died. the motorcycle rider suffered non life-threatening injuries. he was also taken to u-m-c. >> aaron patty north las vegas police: this is a great reminder, any given holiday. there's a lot of people, there's a surge of people that come into this valley and a lot of folks are outside. extra precaution. those are the extra steps we

((brian loftus)) >> speed and alochol were not factors in the crash. this is the 12th deadly crash in north las vegas' jurisdiction./// ((brian loftus)) it was a rough day for several people after tropical depression hermine made landfall in the east coast. over the weekend... tropical storm warnings were issued for shore towns up the east coast . the slow-moving system packed 70 mile-per-hour winds off the coast of new england and could make landfall by wednesday. the thrashing waves and beachgoers out of the water. (("no ocean for us. we kind of stepped onto the water but the life guards were looking at us so we had to run off." )) ((brian loftus)) >> the storm is blamed for at least three deaths in the south, and residents in the florida panhandle are still cleaning up debris from hermine. it's expected to head back out to sea later this week./// sherry how's the weather today?

8 news now has learned a six-year-old girl died after drowning in a pool last week. according to a department of family services report... the child was unresponsive when she was pulled from the pool. she was taken to a hospital where she later died. c-p-s notes four instances of neglect allegations involving the parents since 2006... three of those happened this year./// ((kirsten joyce)) commissioner thalia dondero has died at the age of 96. dondero was the first woman to serve as a commissioner when she was elected in 1974. she served for 20 years. she also served on the board of regents for the nevada system of higher education. tributes have been pouring in from senators reid and heller, congresswoman dina titus, and commissioner steve sisolak... all offering their condolences to her family and speaking fondly of her storied career./// ((kirsten joyce)) and longtime conservative activist phyllis schlafly has

anti-feminist leader, known for her fight against the equal rights movement and liberalism in the 1960's and 70's. she also led the pro-family advocacy group "eagle forum." recently... schlafly threw her support behind donald trump's presidential campaign. schlafly was 92 years old./// ((brian loftus)) this sunday marks the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. and new york city announced some of their plans for the day of remembrance. a memorial ceremony will take place at the world trade center from 8-30 a-m to 12-30 p-m eastern tim public but it will be televised. the ceremony will recognize six moments of silence to represent the four plane crashes and the collapse of each twin tower. the event is open only to families who lost loved ones in the terror attacks. be sure to watch our 9/11 hour long special here on 8 news now.. sunday at 5-30am../// ((kirsten joyce)) this morning both presidential candidates are racing to the finish line. as hillary clinton and donald trump stump for votes today in key battleground states. both candidates courted workers in ohio yesterday and gave interviews with reporters aboard their private plans. hena daniels has the latest from the campaign trail. hillary clinton enters the final stretch of the election season...promising the media greater access to her campaign. -nats- the democratic nominee traveled aboard her new plane to illinois and ohio on labor day yesterday... this time with reporters eager investigation into her email scandal: (clinton aptn) the fact that i couldn't remember certain meetings//doesn't in any way affect the commitment that i had and still have to the treatment of classified material. clinton sought to keep the focus on donald trump...and his alleged ties to russia: (clinton) he urged the russians to hack more, in particular, hack me. -nat/sot- she didn't have the energy to go to louisiana and

mexico trump also invited reporters onboard his private plane while in ohio...where he refused to rule out amnesty for millions of undocumented immigrants... there's a crash on the spring mountain on-ramp to southbound i-15. no major delays right now. the us 95 off-ramp to south rancho is open, but will close tonight so crews can work on project neon. the mlk on-ramp to northbound 95 is closed right now. use rancho to get to the freeway.

two block area this week... to try and keep it from spreading. so far southern california has seen 241 infections... all are travel related. heavy spraying is being used to try and keep the virus under control./// ((brian loftus)) so far nevada has had 15 cases of zika infection. the health district says eleven of the confirmed cases are in clark county... and all of those were from traveling. there has been one case of a pregnant woman contracting the virus.. and that was in northern nevada./// ((kirsten joyce)) actor michael chiklis is seo album. friday morning at 6../// ((kirsten joyce)) juan gabriel's ashes is in mexico city from his beloved juarez aboard a mexican air force plane. his fans, friends and family gathered to bid farewell to the mexican idol at the palace of fine arts. the same venue who hosted him back in 1990, making him then the first mainstream artist to perform in the palace. juan gabriel passed away last sunday in california. he was 66 years old./// ((brian lofs michael chiklis is trying his hand at music. chiklis, who won an emmy for his work on "the shield", is releasing his debut album, "influence", september 16th. chiklis says he always saw himself as both an actor and musician ... but kept the music on hold due to acting and family. chiklis says the album was influenced by rock artists of the 70s and 80s like bruce springsteen and queen./// we'll be right
