a man wanted in connection to a murder .. is back behind bars, after escaping police custody. ((brian loftus)) >> 8 news now reporter michael stevens joins us this morning .. with the details on the capture. michael? ((michael stevens)) >> brian, kirsten... the f-b-i took down perez around 8 o'clock last night. he was found inside a home near charleston and pecos. take a look... people in the area caught photos moments after the arrest. neighbors in the area... didn't want to show their face on camera but describe the moments as e as police and the f-b-i surrounded the home where perez was found: (( they came out with assault rifles. they blocked off the street. they were screaming for perez to come out of the house. we have you surrounded. they arrested two people but let them go.)) (( when they said perez, i thought, i put two and two together. so, it was very scary.)) ((michael stevens)) >> perez had been on the loose

and escaped from the north las vegas police department. perez is the primary suspect in the august 27th shooting death of 31-year-old mohammed robinson outside of a mcdonald's restaurant. witnesses say the deadly argument started with nasty words about robinson not holding a door open for a woman. perez was booked... and is being held inside the clark county detention center. brian, kirsten? the learning center is hosting a seminar today .. to give itt students more information about loan forgiveness and transferring. itt tech announced it's closed all campuses across the country. there were 2 here in the valley .. where more than 800 students were enrolled. the u-s department of education says those currently enrolled, and those who left within the past 120 days can apply for a loan discharge. the closure comes after itt tech was just hit with sanctions.. for mishandling federal grants. we have more informao vegas now dot com./// sherry, how's the weather?

((kirsten joyce)) the final patient from the pulse nightclub shooting ... has been released from the hospital and is back home this morning. the orlando regional medical center says they helped 35 victims ... and performed 76 operations. the facility is just blocks from the nightclub .. just last month the hospital, along with anotho said they won't bill survivors for any out of pocket expenses./// ((kirsten joyce)) sunday marks 15 years since 9-11. this week we're taking a closer at that day and how it's affected so many of us. ((brian loftus)) >> the i- team's vanessa murphy grew up in new york .. her grandfather was one of those who helped the injured.. today, we hear his story. ((dr. james mazzara/grandfather: it was quite horrible...to imagine that something like that might happen. )) ((vanessa murphy)) in 2001 - he was chief of clinical cardiology at saint vincent's morning - he was working at a small conference with medical residents until they were notified a plane had hit one of the twin towers. ((mazzara: first consideration was that it was a terrible accident. and most of us left the conference immediately cause one of the windows on the floor that we were on you could actually see the first tower billowing with smoke.)) accident.... ((mazzara: during the course of the day it was even more shocking.)) ((vanessa murphy)) a disaster plan was put into place inside the hospital. my grandfather describes waiting in the emergency room for casualties.... ((mazzara: the impression that we had at the time with such a catastrophe that there was so few patients coming in that there were many, many lives lost. )) ((vanessa murphy)) he remembers 30 to 40 coming into his section of the e-r...some wit ((mazzara: they were covered in dust.)) ((vanessa murphy)) all of them shaken up. ((mazzara: they were in shock, emotionally in shock and didn't understand what was happening.)) ((mazzara: we just tried to comfort them.)) ((vanessa murphy)) my grandfather slept in his office for a little while that night...waiting for more patients who never came. photos and messages like this covered parts of buildings like saint vincent's as loved ones hoped to find the missing. ((mazzara: we had a wall of remembrance.)) ((vanessa murphy))

construction on flamingo between nellis and jimmy durante was starting to drive you crazy. parts of the sidewalk were torn up and a big hole sat next to the crosswalk that some students would take to get to school. crews were able to get everything in order before school started last monday, but construction work continues here as part of the rtc's flamingo corridor improvements project. you're dealing with lane closures between jimmy durante and mcleod for bus shelter work. crews areo median islands and traffic detectors underground, which also requires lane closures. you can use desert inn as an alternate. everything is on track to be finished by the end of october. end of october. end of october. what's driving you crazy? remember, you can write me at. traffic 8 at las vegas now dot
