((brian loftus)) >> the suspect-- ahmad khan rahami was arrested after a shootout with police .. he now faces attempted murder charges. ((kirsten joyce)) >> the owner of a bar alerted police to his whereabouts ... after he found the suspect sleeping in the doorway. ((brian loftus)) 8 news now reporter michael stevens joins us with the latest on the investigation ... and michael, we've also heard from that bar owner, right? >> brian, kirsten... you've probably seen the videos already... police arrested rahami yesterday already... police arrested rahami yesterday afternoon... after a tip. now a massive investigation extends from new york to three cities in new jersey. ((michael stevens)) with the suspect in the bomb attacks in new york city and seaside park, new jersey, now in custody ... new questions emerge. authorities say they want to know ahmad khan rahami's motive ... and whether he was working alone.

custody monday, after the n-y-p-d and f-b-i asked the public for help in finding him. rahami was detained just a few hours later, when a bar owner in linden new jersey spotted him and alerted authorities. ((harinder bains // bar owner: "i saw his face, when he moved his hoodie. it, like, kind of shocked me because i was watching cnn on my laptop and you guys have his picture on site, like, on a site. i said this guy looked similar, like, very familiar, to the same guy.")) ((michael stevens)) anothere captured the moments just before the confrontation with authorities. rahami walks towards police pointing a weapon and then ... gunfire. the bar owner who first spotted rahami ... a witness to the dramatic scene. ((harinder bains // bar owner: "after that the whole thing took maybe 30 seconds, once went towards door whole thing happened so fast, because right away he went to his gun.// i was shaking a little, when cop pulled out his gun, at that point in time i realized, ok this is the guy."))

naturalized u-s citizen from afghanistan -- is "directly linked" to the bombings. he's believed to be seen on surveillance cameras near the chelsea bombing site saturday night. saturday's explosion left 29 people injured. all have been released from the hospital. ((michael stevens)) >> so far, he's been charged with five counts of attempted murder of a police officer. he is being held on $5.2 million bail and remains at a hospital. bri k ((brian loftus)) >> michael, how are the officers doing that caught rahami? ((michael stevens)) >> brian, authorities say two linden officers were wounded trying to arrest rahami. their injuries were not considered life-threatening. brian? ((brian loftus)) and breaking overnight ... paris investigators say there have been 8 new arrests in the bastille day terror attack. isis has claimed responsibility for the attack back in july that killed 86 people. a man driving a 19- ton truck ..

the department of transportation will release new regulations today ... for self- driving vehicles. they're expected to detail how the vehicles should perform and include a model for state policies. the guidelines include a 15- point safety assessment for things like crashworthiness, privacy and vehicle cybersecurity. federal transportation officials say they want the ability to approve new driverless technologies - and regulate post-sale software upgrades./// ((kirsten joyce)) armed occupation of a federal wildlife refuge in oregon continues ... ((kirsten joyce)) clark county commissioners will hold a public hearing this morning on the gas tax. it starts at 9 am at the clark county building .... commissioners will then vote on capping the proposed gas tax. there are an estimated 364 road projects planned with a price tag of 6.2 billion dollars. the only way to pay for them is if voters approve question 5 in november. it would increase a gas tax in clark county between 2 and 4 cents annually for the next ten years.

so, we found out what's giong on what's going on up at ann and 215. someone was pulled over for a minor traffic violation, then tried to fight an officer, prompting that officer to tase him. police have that person in custody.

((kirsten joyce)) we have a warning for pet owners in the sun city- summerlin area. the sun city animal hospital sent a notice to clients ... saying they've seen an increase in coyote attacks over the past 9 months. they're encouraging pet owners to keep animals indoors overnight ... and check for the animals before letting your pet outside. they say if you do see a coyote ... make loud noises, spray them with the hose, or throw items in their direction -- though not at them. coyotes are most active at dawn ((sherry swensk)) here's something that'll make you say "awww" ... this orphaned baby koala is stealing hearts ... after it found comfort in this stuffed animal. 9- month- old shayne is being cared for at the australia zoo.. his mom died after being hit by a car. zookeepers say they found the little guy being chased by crows. he wasn't hurt .. but now, he's dealing with the
