((kirsten joyce)) >> and i'm kirsten joyce. today, metro police are expected to release more information about the suspect in the deadly shooting and possible barricade situation at a valley starbucks. ((brian loftus)) >> investigators say the situation began at the store near warm springs and rainbow yesterday around noon and lasted several hours.. 8 news now reporter nia wong is live on scene .. with a look at how the situation unfolded. ((nia wong)) >> this intersection is usually busy yet quiet... but it was shut down for several hours as swat, armored trucks, the bomb squad and fbi agents surrounded this starbucks. police tell us the drama started at this drive thru. >> they say after a man had his credit card declined at the window....he then went inside and began arguing with another male customer. investigators say this upset

metro police say they treated this as a hostage situation as this shooter went as far as hiding in a crowd of customers inside...then called in a fake suspect description to 9-11 to throw off police arriving to the scene. we're told witnesses tried performing cpr on the man who was shot....but he later died at spring valley hospital. one mother describers her daughter's experience inside the starbucks when it started. ((kim plank, daughter inside store during shooting " she just said she heard a guy with a gun got down and then as soon as she had a chance she jumped out the drive thru window.")) ((nia wong)) >> since this is stil a police have not told us who this shoother is. ((nia wong)) >> when metro arrested the shooter....they say he claimed to have bomb in his backpack. they sent in a robot to investigate and found that was not true.

declined at the drive thru. drama unfolded when he went inside and argued with another customer....then shot him in the chest. >> metro says this shooter hid within the crowd at starbucks....and went as far as calling in a fake suspect description to 9-1-1 to try and throw off officers arriving to the scene. because of that ....police had to treat the incident like a barricade or hostage situation....not knowing where the immedia most businesses and strip malls near warm springs and rainbow were shut down for several hours during the investigation. we saw people coming out of the shop with their hands up. and also captured video of the victim being taken to the hospital where he later died. witnesses say after shots were fired.... they saw people panicking and a frantic employee running out..
