the moment they've been waiting for ... as chicago emerges victorious from world series 2016. they beat the cleveland indians eight-to-seven in ten innings. it was a nail-biter of a game that featured a rain delay and went on past midnight, but the fans didn't seem to mind. mos:"fifty one years i've been here. a die-hard cubs fan from the south side. it hasn't been easy but the cubs are awesome and the supporters and fs up on us" mos:"i'm just like ... weeping openly right now. i'm covered with beers and tears and i just can't believe that this has happened." the cubs took three in a row to close out the the indians in game seven of a dramatic series. mos:"the anxiety was inane, you know, from down three-to-one, it was a one game at a time mentality. and once we were here today we knew it was just a matter of one game showing up and it happened

an iowa man is in police custody - wanted for questioning in the shooting deaths of two officers overnight. ((kirsten joyce)) >> his capture ended an hours-long manhunt in and around des moines. cbs's danielle nottingham has the latest from urbandale, iowa. the manhunt for scott greene, who police say gunned down two iowa police officers overnight, ended quietly along this rural road,

"he flagged down an employee of the dnr, presented his id to that employee and asked that that employee call 9-1-1." greene was wanted for killing two police officers - the first, just after 1 a-m in greene's hometown of urbandale. the second, 20 minutes later and two miles away, in des moines. police say they were ambushed. "there definitely was no opportunity for the sef to defend themselves or respond to the attack. both officers were seated in their cars, and were shot while they were sitting." the officers were identified as des moines sergeant anthony beminio, and urbandale officer justin martin. ((danielle nottingham/cbs news, urbandale, iowa )) greene was no stranger to law enforcement here. police say he was issued a warning for tresspassing at football game at his daughter's high school for waving a confederate flag during the national anthem. "he had picked some people of color to wave it in front of, and although they didn't complain to us, there were people in the

trick-or-treating. so when one boy missed his chance to dress up and go door-to-door -- someone made sure he still got his treats -- without any tricks. chuck roberts has the story. like a lot of four year olds -- evan taggard likes candy -- and football. this halloween he planned on dressing like his favorite player -jeremy sprinkle - and tackling the neighborhood to score as many treats as possible. (amber taggard/son got halloween surprise) "i think when you are 4 years old halloween is the apex of the holiday season." but a holiday ending injury (amber taggard/son got halloween surprise) "he was jumping on the trampoline with his brother and his dad like he's done for 10,000 hours of his life and he just landed wrong on his leg. it bent backward and we knew pretty immediately it was broken." even on the way to the emergency room evan's mind wasn't on a cast -- it was on candy. (amber taggard/son got halloween surprise) he was crying and hurting and holding his leg he was saying i'm going to miss trick or treating. like a lot of moms, amber updated friends and family on social media.
