((nia wong)) >> brian and kirsten. the bench trial is scheduled to resume at 1 o'clock this afternoon. both sides made their case during yesterday's opening statements-- including one of the alleged victims. >> two families say ther sons were bullied while attending the
the parents say they were never told about the incidents surrounding their children .. and the school failed to look into their kids' bullying claims. one of the victims says another boy called him homophobic names in band class... and told the dean about it... but the alleged bully wasn't punished. according to court documents - the attacks were so bad....one victim was stabbed with a pencil in his private parts.... and was too scared to tell the school. attorneys said the second victim was bullied after he tried to stand up for his frid hit with a trombone...and the bullying got so bad...he wanted to take his life. (( "i was going to try and kill myself ..." "and why were you going to do that? um, because i didn't see any like other options." )) ((nia wong)) >> the defense also presented
says when the first victim reported being bullied, he never mentioned the homophobic slurs. >> back to you./// ((kirsten joyce)) several critical bills were approved by the clark county commissioners.. after they were passed during the special session. the first was the room tax increase for an nfl stadium and the county will back the bonds that will pay for the 750- million dollars in public contribution toward stadium construction.. which will be repaid by a room tax increase. /// ((brian loftus)) the more cops tax was also passed. in april, a one-tenth of a percent sales tax increase will go into effect county-wide... and is expected to raise nearly 40- million dollars in its first year. this would allow 315 more officers to be hired across the valley. metro police would get the bulk of it.
