3 3 for a second straight day... local law enforcement is involved in a pursuit... this time near the greenville area of sioux city.that chase2ended with the suspwct in the *hospital*... thanks to some quick work by a k-9 cop and its handler. 3 3 the woodbury county deputy and his dog... seen here in this photo taken by bobbiejo oien- walker... took down the suspect who'd ditched a stolen car and was on the run near the economy inn. the suspect was taken to the hospital following his encounter with the dog. 3 "the operator of the car took off running on foot. lhey had a foot chase and a entually he went down to the crick here and was apprehended a k9 from the sheriff's department."a sioux city police officer had spotted the car at gordon drive and south fairmont. the plates matched a vehicle that was stolen in far... the suspect has not been identified or formally charged. 3 3 today's chase adding to the already- high car theft

january.sioux city police say they've already had 29 reports of stolen cars in the first 25 days of 2016.police say a lot of those thefts happen when people leave their cars running to warm them upup. and that the easiest way to event your car from being stolen is to never leave the keys in it without being in the car yourself. 3 3 sergeant bluff police releasing the name of the man arrested after a brief car chase monday afternoon.48- year- old daniel suhr of yankton is 3 being held in the woodbury county jail... 3 awaiting a transfer into the custody of the u- s marshal's service.suhr was wanted on a federal warrant when he was arrereed yesterday after a a brief chase through sergeant addition to the federal charges... he's also facing *local* charges of driving without a license and driving while barred. 3 3 a former stanton county sheriff's deputy and school board member charged with six counts of animal abuse is pleading not guilty.kirk van pelt entred

court.he was charged last december... along with four teenagers fromtanton.they're accused of filming the torture of a cat and a possum... then sharing that video online. 3 3 the city of south sioux city has named their interim police chief.lieutenant ed (may-hawn) mahon is taking on a new position as the interim police chief.mahon started at the department 32 years ago.he was born and raised in south sioux city, nebraska(may-hawn) mahon was chosen at the south sioux city's council meeting, monday night.if mahon is chosen for the new chief position, there would be a new lieutenant. 3 "i'm really proud, i've always been proud to serve the citizens of south sioux and honored to do so. it's a great town. we have a great department. one that chief helped build, so i just want to keep continuing doing the work that i can do to keep progressing into the future."mahon is also a candidate to replace ford... but the search for the new chief is still on- going.

3 hundreds of business leaders from across the midwest will make their way to sioux city this summer.they'll be taking part in the iowa association of business and industry's annual conference.the annual event brings hundreds of business owners and executives to the area for networking and other events. 3 "it's a great educational opportunity and again it comes back to the relationships and ways to build that networking and those relationships with other business executives and business owners from across the state."sioux city last hosted the abi annual conference back in 2006.local leaders say they're excited to show off all the city's progress since then. 3 "for those that are welcoming our guests this is a great opportunity for them to host in their restaurants, to showcase their hotels and some of their shops and outlets."attendees at this year's conference... running from june 14th through the 16th at the hard rock hotel and casino... will hear from

candidates.on the democratic side... former maryland governor martin o'malley will be in sioux city friday night. o'malley will stop at his campaign headquarters on nebraska street at 7 o'clock... following appearances in council bluffs, missouri valley and denison.on saturday... he'll remain in siouxland with events in cherokee, spencer and storm lake. 3 3 democratic party front- runner hillary clinton will also make a last- minute campaign trip to siouxland this weekend.the former secretary of state will hold a rally sunday at the sioux city convention center downtown.doors for the event will open at 3- 45 sunday afternoon.clinton is scheduled to appear at 5- 15.while she still leads the democratic field nationally... in iowa, some polls have her narrowly trailing vermont senator bernie sanders. 3 3 on the republican side... while ted cruz, jeb bush and rand paul will all be in the area this weekend, they'll be joined by new jersey governor chris christie.christie's campaign is planning a town hall meeting in sioux city saturday morning.that event

student center on the campus of morningside college.doors will open at 8 a- m... and the event will get underway at 9. 3 3 more than 300 thousand iowans could end up going to a precinct caucus this coming monday night to vote for the presidential candidate of their choice. 3 but what about the iowans who can't make it because they're out of the state on military duty? the iowa republjcan party has set up "online" caucusing to let those folks have their "say." and democrats have also developed their own system. 3 "so one of the things we've done is added a telecaucus. and since iowa has more military famliies than a lot of states... people who are active duty in the military outside of the boards of iowa or overseas... they can come in and do a telecaucus and do it on their phone. and so they can be in a caucus. they can even realign and it's really done exacly like a caucus except they vote by their phone."the democrats are also settting up "satellite" caucuses for people who can't attend a precinct caucus due to a hardship. you can call either party for more details

3 3 and even those *too young* to vote on monday are getting into the caucus spirit.students at sunnyside elementary school in morningside held their own youth caucus this morning.225 students from the 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classes took part... casting their ballots using voting machines provided by the woodbury county auditor's office. 3 "it's a great opportunity for our kids to have to opportunity now to see how its done to build and invest in lifelong commitment to civic responsibility.." 3 the kids who took part were very excited to cast their votes. 3 "its nice and like how they do it cause to see what the kids think about it and not just the adults.....well because i get to take a stand and how i want to be presidenti think its really good because like
