3 there's been an unusual sound filling a street in niagara falls new york for the past few months. for eight hours a day the university of iowa fight song has played from an empty building. no one seems to know why the song is playing... but as reporter alex (hate) haight shows us... one business owner there just hopes it stops. 3 --reporter pkg-as follows-- the university of iowa fight song... a staple of pep rallies and football games in iowa city and more recently on 3rd street in niagara falls. confused?you're not alone. gables was known for its jewish food... but now it's a barbeque joint.crazy bob's bar - b - q celebrated its grand opening yesterday. the green gables had been a sioux city staple from 1929 until it closed in august 20 - 14. the new owners didn't change much of the exterior... but inside is a different story. there are still a few mementos left over from "the gables" in there... though. this is the 5th store in the "crazy bob's" chain... there are already restaurants at inwood... alvord... hartley... and peterson. 3 the le mars police department is trying to make online transactions a little safer.they've come up with a place where people doing business through sites like craigslist can have a spot to meet safely. they can either meet outside the department headquarters... or go inside the lobby. sergeant jay king says there is an important reason for what they're calling "project safe place." 3 "we are out there to make sure people stay safe, we are out there to make sure that they are not becoming a victim of a crime and if we can put a place for them to come, have a

think it's going to work."the department can also check to make sure the item someone has bought is not illegal or stolen. 3 police in norfolk are looking for a man who robbed a hotel... after that robbery two schools were on lockdown yesterday morning.at about 10 - 20 yesterday morning police were called to the hampton inn on south 20th street in norfolk for an armed robbery. a man carrying a gun went into the hotel... then ran away with some cash. a search of the area found clothes... shoes... gloves... and a weapon believed to have been used by the robber. a nearby elementary and middle school went into lockdown during that search... but they were able to dismiss on time. anyone with information on the robbery should call norfolk police immediately. 3 a gas line is back in service now in sioux city's leeds neighborhood... after a small break yesterday morning.workers hit a half -

after 10 yesterday morning in the 43 - hundred block of harrison street. midamerican energy crews got there pretty quickly to repair the line. no customers went without gas during the half - hour the line was out of commision. 3 police are looking for a 26 - year - old man who walked away treatment facility.jacob petty is serving a 10 - year sentence for a 2008 robbery conviction.he was transferred to work release in october... and put on escape status after he didn't come back to the facility tuesday night.he's a black man... 6 feet one inch tall... he weighs about 250 pounds. he has tattoos on his upper left arm and on his right calf. anyone who knows where he is should call police immediately. 3 a former consultant for the company that provides sioux city's traffic cameras has helped convict a chicago official of bribery. 3 martin o'malley worked for the phoenix - based camera company called red flex. he testified he passed envelopes

dollars in cash to john bills. bills was the second in command of chicago's department of transportation. federal prosecutors says bills also took illegal gifts... like condos in two states and a mercedes... in an effort to steer a 100 million dollar contract to red flex. 3 taco johns is giving back to the community!yesterday owners presented proceeds from the chain's annual nachos navidad fundraiser to special olympics iowa. this is the sixth year restaurants in sioux city... north and south sioux city... cherokee... le mars... sheldon... spencer... and storm lake have donated proceeds from the seasonal dish to the special olympics. this year's fundraiser brought in more than 21 - hundred dollars for the group. 3 "it's a great thing for our organization, helps support our athletes, so can compete in all sorts of activities and

family has welcomed its newest member.this is "mac." the company said his name is in honor of its clydesdales being "the most macro of all icons." it's also a nod to the company's tagline...
