time. it happened after 1:00 this morning. the deputy was investigating a parked vehicle with its lights on, engine running. when they ran the plate they connected the car to a male, alex perez, a suspect in a double homicide and parental perez was in the car, arrested. the two children are in protective custody. heavy hearts in parker where one teen was killed and two others hurt when they fell into an icy pond. one has been released from the hospital, the other in critical condition at the hospital. the one who died spent 35 minutes under water. >> this was a tragic accident. the lesson here today is be cognizant of what's around you. be aware of your surroundings. we live in a climb where you % can have sub freezing temperatures at night and warmer temperatures during the

ice, it's a very dangerous situation. >> the officials say three teens were walking home from legendswill when the incident happened on the ice. grief counselors will be at the school this morning. today we're expecting to learn more about the four people arrested after a massive chase ended in a crash, near sloan's lake last night. this is what's left of the suv the suspects were driving. officers say the suv is wanted in connection with with a couple of felony cases. it happened in front of the live green wellness center on 25th and sheridan. initially police helicopter was tracking the suv when patrol cars went in to make a stop the suv took off. police decided to chase, which is rather unusual. the scene. >> eight or nine cop cops screaming by and officers running down the road with their guns out and apprehended the guy in the alley.

beth said it happened around the corner from her always. she tweeted, they apparently knew they were going to need us. here's a mappof where a plane crashhhappened, about 15 miles west of meeker. the small plane crashed around 8:00 last night. take a look at this similar plane. you can see how small it is. now it's not clear how many people might have been on board. but it has a maximum capacity of six. crews say they found a propeller, a wing, other debris, but no people. the search will resume this morning. one person is in custody in connection with this serious crash on speer boulevard. the silver car especially suffered a lot of damage. happened on the i-25 overpass. at least one person was seriously hurt. longmont police officer involved in a crash near highway 66 and main street. you can see the front of the cruiser banged up here. colorado state police have taken the lead in this

don't think the driver was drunk or on drugs. sad news out of africa, hours after west africa ebola outbreak is over, one person dies in sierra leon. isis has claimed responsibility for a coordinated attack in jakarta. one of the explosions happening near a starbucks. at least seven people were suspected attackers. at least 23 others were hurt in that explosion. no americans were injured. fireworks were flying at last night's republican debate in south carolina. most of the tension was between texas senator ted cruz and the front-runner donald trump. donald trump continues to point

new mexico officials say they're still seeing high `evels of lead in the water any time it rains. officials from our state had no comment. we're learning more about the ordeal a couple of parents went through trying to get their adult son out of their burning home. sadly the son died in that fire. they were upstairs getting ralph ready for dialysis when the fire started. their son-in-law says they tried to rush out, but ralph was weak and couldn't get out because of his walker. >> josie had to give him a shove. he fell. he tried to hang in there the best way he can. >> their son did not make it. a broncos' fan has one last dying wish, to meet her favorite player. we'll show you what one broncos player did to help make it come

that's nice. peyton had to deal with heavy wind yesterday, but emmanuel sanders said he was putting plenty of zip on the ball. they take on the steelers sunday. big ben missed practice again yesterday, but still expects to be on that field at kickoff. on the ice, avalanche hosted the devils. avalanche took the lead less than a minute in with a goal by all-star deushane. they won 3-0. powerball fever may be over but the lottery is still paying dividends in colorado. wednesday more than $60 million worth of tickets were sold, five times the previous record. big winners. they'll get more than $21 million from the ticket sales from wednesday night's drawing. >> that makes my loss feel a little better. our day. changes coming, and this afternoon we'll be a good 10, 15 degrees cooler than yesterday.

>> chance for snow. winds this morning are the biggest issue up and through the foothills we've seen gusts near broomfield at about 41 miles per hour. berthoud pass same thing, morning. across the plains we're at about 10 to 15 miles per hour. temps. you're going to feel 22 this morning here in denver. roads are dry. skies are clear and looking at sunshine to start today. as you look at our current temps, 9 east of denver in limon, below 10 degrees. fort collins you're close to freezing. in boulder now 30. not a big jump, we'll be in the low to mid-30s this afternoon. we'll likely see our temperatures drop a few degrees this morning with our sunrise, and only climb just above freezing later or not today -- on today. winds are shifted. at this point, most of our snow will be well off to the west. not seeing much east of the divide.

good 3 to 6 inches over the next 24 to 36 hours and we're going to talk about some of the alerts in place coming up. newt cast showing an increase % in clouds across the plains in the afternoon. by 1:00 most of our mountains from north to south and along i- 70 we'll be seeing snow. likely see it accumulate on i- 70 by early afternoon. across the plains a chance for a little snoo later this afternoon. we could get a few flurries, light snow near fort collins just in time for the drive home tonight into early morning. you're going to find futurecast clears out nicell by about 7:00 on saturday. we're in for clear skies. any plans you have this weekend we're likely going to stay dry. any snow we get here in denver will be light, less than an inch at best. but it will stay chilly and unsettled as we get a couple of waves of snow rolling through, especially in the mountains this weekend. denver today, 35. about 30% chance for snow later

outside a capacity station in edwards. the victim left his car running, the doors were unlocked. the car was gone and authorities think the suspect may be in denver. a second 16-year-old girl is being charged as an adult, brooke higgins. prosecutors say she and a friend, sienna johnson, planned to attack mountain vista high school. police found out about tte plan and they were both arrested. now they're both being held on a million dollars bond. people in the neighborhood near 46th and sheridan saw a lot of police activity yesterday afternoon. police tell us they were searching for a man who had broken his parole. they caught up with the guy, benjamin knight. took about an hour. boulder exploring the possibility of putting gps collars on bears. parks and wildlife considering outfitting five bears, hoping

they'll hopefully put fewer down every year. the idea is preliminary at this point. no final decision has been made on this. you may soon get to vote on how denver deals with panhandlers. there's a lawyer working on a stop people from standing outside asking you for money. the city council in denver will hear more about the initiative today. we spoke to the man behind this proposal. he calls it the first step in a long process. right now panhandlers are not allowed in medians or the middle of the roads in denver, but are allowed on sidwalks. a couple denied their dream home they say because of their sexual orientation and they're filing a federal lawsuit. >> tonya and rachel smith have been married five years, rachel is transgender and they have two children. >> frightened and paniced % because we'd already been looking for quite some time. >> the property owner says her

the couple's sexual identity and everything to do with peace and quiet. saying in a group living situation, two kids woull be too much. more proof home sales and prices on the rise. more than 6,000 single family homes were sold in december, up 21% from the month before. 10% from december 2014. prices are also up 9% over last year. the colorado association of relators says there's reason to be concerned about the state of the markets since the supply for homes has dropped to a five year low. chipotle is taking steps to improve food safety and goldman sachs has struck a deal with the government. >> topping america's money, goldman sachs deal with the money. >> it's agreed to pay $5
