it's 4:30. the long awaited for snow catching hundreds off guard are from -- the first winter blast got off to a rough start for the front range. some parts of our state, yesterday's snow turned deadly killing two people because of car crashes. today we have on what to expect the day after that snow fall. jayson gruenauer and traffic anchor jayson luber is monitoring the roads and lisa hidalgo tracking the weather conditions. >> let's turn to lisa first. >> we're expecting another drastic change in temperatures yet again. >> we're going to be back in the 60s as we head through the weekend. we have temperatures dropping near 20 degrees. winds coming out of the northwest at 10 to 15 miles-per-hour.

obviously the side streets still very crunchy, very crispy and icy. jayson is will talk about that in a minute. look at our window owe estes park feels like 7. berthoud pass 25 egre below zero. we're looking at sunshine today. so another change. we'll see slowly warm today, but it's going to be a cold morning. the kids need jacket, hot, gloves early on. a high just right around 40 degrees. so mostly sunny skies and as we head into the weekend, another big warmup. we'll talk more about thht in a few minutes. >> thank you, lisa. 4:31. the conditions on the roads is better than we expected today, but don't be fooled because there's always slick spot and we saw a lot of bad crashes overnight. >> police says someone was hurt on i-70 and vasquez last night.

and i-70 and 225, 1 car crash there. the driver was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. how are the roads right now? jason gruenauer is checking that right now and he joins us from the first alert weather chaser, jason. >> good morning to you. we're tracking a side streets here and road conditions here in south denver. we turned onto clarks son and while -- driving on the main highways, it's icy. we'll show you as we drive in our denver first alert weather chaser. a lot of cars on the side of the road with a lot of snow. but that's what you're waking up. from our streets, the worst parts are where the intersections are where people drove through and took that snow or that melted snow that froze and became ice. as you pull out of your riveway

intersections, that's where it's the cruuchiest. we're going into littleton next and show you what condition was now, but as we head into the main intersections, not too bad. you want to take it slow as you get out there on the roads this morning. for more on that, we'll go back to the studio, and jason luber for how the whole drive is looking around the metro area. >> it's going to be a difficult one for folks. this is my drive in on northbound i-25 passing county line and coming up dry of the snow pack remains on the highway. you have wet lanes here where your tires are going to be, but crossing lanes is difficult, but there's some llne that's are completely snow cover. many areas are wet at this point. take a look at the overall map, and you're seeing the worse of the conditions along c-470 apart of the littleton on the west side of town in the foothills and

parker road going all the way through parker, you're going to find tough conditions out there. they ave slick conditions to the east including along pena boulder and i-70. the crash near i-70 and pecos and one near peoria are cleared up and you can see i 5 cleared up. don't -- >> one or two that catch your wheels. so far, troubles at dia. we checked this morning and it seems like everything normal. always call ahead before you jump on a flight. >> one airline was hit was united. they said a broken pieces -- we did catch up with a spirit airline's customer trying to get to la for her honey moon and each airline is responsible for its own deicing. the former governor of vermont howard dean who also happens to be the former chair of the democratic national

now. out of the airport, 10. aurora, 11. do i need to remind you we hit a high on 80 on wednesday. what a change and today we're going to see temperatures half of that right around 40 degrees here in denver. so a very cold start. you're going to find highs anywhere from 35 in every green to near 40 in denver. 42 in kingsburg and about 38 in aurora this afternoon. state wide, some 40s near pueblo and lamar. yesterday they were in the 60s, so you can see state are all feeling the effects of this cold front now moving east of colorado. so on the 7-day, it gets nice for the weekend. tomorrow is going to be a good 10 to 15 degrees warmer. mostly sunny. pretty cold in the morning. more teens and 20s early tomorrow, and then on sunday, we've got highs back in the low to mid 60s. it's going to be mild and pleasant through sunday. tracking another storm next week. so monday, we're likely going to see an increase in cloud cover. temperatures
