the resort stopped operating the chair lift immediately and sent ski patrol to safely evacuate everyone who was on it... in all 65 people had to be evacuated. no one was injured in the incident. heavenly's lift maintenance team is conducting a complete investigation into the cause of the chair's fall. a man is in custody after shooting and injuring a storey county sheriff's deputy during a domestic violence call. it happened around 4:30 saturday afternoon - in the virginia city highlands. deputies, responding to a report of domestic violence were confronted by 51-year- old charles stutts. stutts fired a rifle several times, hitting one of the deputies and another person who was in the area. sheriff gerald antinoro, tells kolo 8 news now, the deputy returned fire, and stutts surrendered. the deputy and stutts were taken to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. both are expected to be ok. stutts has since been booked into storey county jail on charges including attempted

the deputy's name has not been released, but -- per protocol--- they have been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is under investigation. a shooting at a downtown bar left two people injured. it happened shortly before 4:00 yesterday morning, on west commercial row outside the "one- up" bar. police say the two victims were taken to the hospital with non- life threatening injuries. according to witnesses the victims had been arguing with two hispanic males before the shooting happened -- now those two are wanted by police. one suspect was wearing a dark blue sweatshirt during the incident, and the other was about five-foot five-inches tall and wearing a red san francisco football jersey. secret witness is offering a one-thousand dollar reward for information that can help them find and prosecute the shooters. anyone who can help is asked to call the reno police department or secret witness at 322- 4900 sparks police continue to investigate a stabbing from last week...

it happened around 3:00 p.m. friday on the 300- block of view street. when officers arrived, they found a man with several stab wounds and a woman, who was also injured. police say both were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the case is still under investigation. meanwhile, secret witness is offering a one-thousand dollar reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of any suspect. if you can help... just call the sparks police department or secret witness. a traffic alert for you this morning... if your commute takes you through the intersection of pyramid way and greenbrae drive in sparks... you may want to find an alternate route. an traffic accident early sunday morning caused damage to the traffic light. the city is advising drivers to avoid the intersection of pyramid and greenbrae until the problem can be fixed on wednesday. until then... the intersection has "flashing red lights" in all directions. if you're taking advantage of this cold weather ... ... with ice skating on little washoe lake...there are a few

occupation.. started with a protest over the sentencing of two local ranchers for setting fires on federal land steve and dwight hammond went to jail for 90 days initially but government officials are calling for them to serve out their five year sentence. sot hammond "to think that there is this many people showing up" ms of signs sot hammond: "see you in five years." the site of the san bernardino shooting rampage that left 14 people dead and 21 injured, is set to reopen today... there will be tighter security as the inland regional center's 6- hundred employees return to work. the center has been closed since december 2nd when killers syed rizwan and his wife tashfeen malik started their shooting rampage. both were killed later in a shootout with police. farook was an inspector for san bernardino county's department of public health. he worked with many of the victims who were at the center for a training session and holiday party.

president obama launches a final-year push on gun control this week. today... the president will meet with attorney general loretta lynch to discuss options for tougher gun restrictions. in the coming days... he is expected to announce a new executive action with the goal of expanding background checks on gun sales. on thursday... mr. obama will do a one-hour town hall event on the issue live on c-n-n. the expected executive actions come ahead of the presdient's annual state of the union address... which is set for next tuesday.. january 12-th. the house returns to work today with the first order of business being another vote to repeal the health care overhaul. but this time... house passage will mark the first time in dozens of tries that the bill will reach president obama's desk for a promised veto. it's a sharply partisan start to the presidential election year. hoverboards have been all over the news lately... from a hot holiday gift... to spontanious fires. and now... a hoverboard robbery. the teen who took a

who bought their panels years ago may not have been aware that their rates could change along with those for future customers. he also says the changes could drastically alter private contracts consumers signed with rooftop solar companies, and that could be legally questionable. this of course has been an issue surrounded by quite a bit of controversy. solarcity ... which is the largest solar installer in the u-s ... has said that it will stop selling and installing solar panels on rooftops across nevada because of the decision to move forward with the new rates. the changes ... which were scheduled to go into effect on january first ... would raise the base service charge for southern nevada solar customers from roughly 13-dollars to nearly 18-dollars per month. for people here in northern nevada it would go from around 15 to 21. the change would also reduce the amount the utility pays to buy power back from rooftop solar panels. the public utilities commission says, their plan reflects the declining price of solar-generated power. but many critics are arguing that there wasn't enough warning about the scope of the rate structure. the new rules are expected to raise rates over a five-year period
