"a lot of our customers that come here really wanted to be in an environment that was pretty much smoke-free. so we started to look at how can we do that?" and engineers at the peppermill found a solution. a little more than a year ago ... the casino installed an energy recovery ventilation system ... which is able to take the smoke-laden air out ... and replace it with fresh air. "obviously these systems are working. the air is fresher, because the outside air that we bring in goes through a filtration system, so when it goes into the casino it's actually cleaner than outside air." there are 14 e-r-v units

"they definitely stand out due to their dedication to clean air and geothermal energy. geothermal energy really helps with the environment, and reduces pollution and other particles in the air." "it's quite an honor for our company, for the owners, for our operation." a year-long study of the clean air initiative showed a savings in energy usage of more than 131-thousand dollars and roughly 866 metric tons of co2 emissions savings ... compared to previous years. a special dinner will be held at the peppermill tomorrow night where the american lung association will honor
