?did you hear? reno is getting a professional soccer team and you can help choose its name. kolo 8 news now's catherine van joins us in the studio, to help the league narrow down its choices... cat? so for the past... few months the u-s-l reno soccer league has been collecting more than three-thousand submissions from the public. they put together focus groups and talked to city officials. finally... they've narrowed it down to six names. nats: i'm going reno 1868 nats: i like reno silver forrest: reno fc i like that. it sounds like the real madrid fc in salt lake everyone has a different opinion on what an official soccer team name should look like.... mike: i feel it should be something that encompasses the entire area. at the sports dome ... fans take soccer seriously. so picking a name isn't something to be taken lightly. nats: i'm going with reno fc because it's short and to the point and i think it will look good on jerseys and billboards. forrest: i think reno united would sound really good to us here as far as on the blue team. we're old man united so it would

knows... professional team names aren't the most creative. eric: all fairly traditional european style football club most creative. eric: all fairly traditional european style football club soccer team names. that was really the desire of the community to be traditional and that's what we're going with. the u-s-l reno soccer league selected six names ... reno fc, fc reno, reno silver fc, reno city fc, reno united and reno 1868. all suggested by the community... and will be finalized by the community. eric: our desire through the entire process is to represent all of nevada, all of reno and really make this a community team and do with it what they wish throughout. the season won't start until march 20-17.. with a few exhibition games starting this year. it'll run around the same time as baseball season... with 30 games... 18 of them here at home at the aces ballpark. we should have an official team name in about a month. i personally like reno united... but don't let

instructor who went missing last thursday. police say 23-year-old carson may was last seen going up a lift at the resort in white-out conditions. may was supposed to come back down the mountain after his run to meet a friend at end of the day for a ride home. his friend said he never showed. he wasn't reported missing until 24-hours later. but officials say the good news is... may has experience on the mountain... and there are resources out there to survive,,,, like snow for water and vegetation for food. "if you're doing things right you can survive quite a while out there if you built a snow cave you could live out there all winter." about 30-people will continue the search again tomorrow... with teams focusing on an avalanche slide area... where the phone of may was last pinged.### firefighters in the truckee meadows are getting some extra help. "nats of chest compressions" they first responders are using a new device-- that performs chest compressions.

northern nevada, using this technology. "as far as the fatigue factor, it pretty much eliminates that. because it's battery operated it's already preset to a determined depth and rate, which is internationally recognized and approved." the washoe county commissioner says he would like to see other agencies use this new equipment as well. ### nevada lawmakers held a special session, to consider taxbreaks for the carmaker faraday future. we're now learning how you paid for that special session. the bill for the 4-day session added up to 227- thousand-dollars. concerns about water-use--- and bond financing, held lawmakers in carson city. they approved 215- million-dollars in tax breaks, for faraday and authorized 120-million, in infrastructure improvements. ### it's the "evil eye" seen across the nation. senator bernie sanders gave hillary clinton quite the angry look during this weekend's democratic presidential debate.

reports, sanders is a man of many facial expressions. presidential candidate "to get the affordable care act passed." your reactions to hillary were written all over your face. in your headshaking, in your smile. as politico put it "bernie was making faces." he made the one that went viral while clinton was accusing sanders of dissing president obama... presidential candidate "senator sanders called him weak, disappointing." it was variously described as the evil eye, side eye, the stink eye. "i see this guy over at the pizza box is giving me the stink eye." someone tweeted that sanders "is like your grandpa who yells and makes funny faces at the dinner table." at one point he exhaled like a horse. presidential candidate "he voted for what we call the charleston loophole ." blowback to the infamous al gore sigh. " that's what a governor gets to do. there's differences ."

"bernie sanders is channeling his inner donald trump with those faces" tweeted one progressive. presidential candidate "he gets his foreign policy experience from the shows." though the donald is more dismissive. and more explosive. presidential candidate "but he's a chaos candidate." the diehard capitalist and the democratic socialist share the wealth when it comes to facial expressions. there have been at least seven calls for ice rescues, compared to just two at this same time last year. last friday-- a rescue team saved naomi duerr's dog after it fell through the ice. by the way, she's on the reno city council. she says she had to fight the urge to go onto the ice ,to rescue her dog. instead, she and her husband called 9-1-1. ### chief meteorologist jeff thompson has your

it could reach 1-million barrels-a-day within a year. ### the 62 richest people--- have as much wealth, as the 3--point-6 billion people at the bottom half of the world population. that's according to a new report, from ox-fam international. but in 2010, it took 388 wealthy individuals, to monopolize that much global wealth. a report from the pew research center, found that poverty worldwide, has fallen by nearly half-- over the past decade. ### and some sad news tonight--- a music legend....has died. glen frey was a founding member of the eagles and he co-wrote and sang some of their biggest hits, including "take it easy", "desperado", and "hotel california". frey was a transplant to california arriving in the late 1960's from mo- town. he passed away at the age of 67. ### cold-symptoms can be unbearable this time of year. and, they can be even worse if you blindly listen to what some people consider sound advice.

the sniffling and sneezing from the common cold. it turns out, americans suffer from over 1- billion colds each year. but, there are better ways to prevent and treat the virus. martha shade has tonight's medical minute.

throat, sneezing and a runny nose. colds are all too common this time of year but a new review from the canadian medical association contains tips on how we can fight back. the researchers looked at results from 67 trials and found that good old fashioned hand washing may be the best way to prevent catching a cold. studies in children found that those taking zinc had fewer colds than other kids. the researchers say that adults may benefit as well. probiotics may be helpful to ward off colds, but vitamin c, the "gold standard" of cold fighters, did not seem to help the average patient, nor did echinacea. so what helps if you do get sick? medications like ibuprofen and acetamiophen help relieve the aches and pains but they will not make the cold go away any quicker. and, almost all colds are caused by viruses so taking antibiotics is not recommended. cold symptoms usually go away in about 7 to 10 days. if you aren't getting relief by then, see your doctor, it may be more than a cold. space-x's latest attempt
