after fire crews say they found it engulfed in flames. it happened yesterday on "tomahawk way". crews from truckee meadows fire say the shed was used as a garage and contained oil and propane tanks. fortunately, no one was hurt as a result of the explosion. new developments this morning over the fire lawsuit between the reno city council and truckee meadows fire protection district. the city council voted to accept the terms of a settlement regarding fire services. the county will pay the city 447-thousand dollars in back workers comp fees and both parties are choosing not to argue over damaged fire engines or missing equipment. the settlement ends a long battle between the two agencies and they hope to start a good relationship that could lead to another attempt at fire consolidation in the future. a federal judge has refused to grant a new trial for a nevada trucking firm for the deadly amtrak crash that left 6 people dead in 2011. the judge decided to

court jury who says the truck driver wasn't paying attention and was to blame for the crash outside fallon. the driver was killed along with five people on the california zephyr. the judge ruled the 2014 verdict was reasonable, and there was no legal basis to revisit the case. john davis trucking was ordered to pay more than 4- and-a half million dollars in damages to amtrak. a decision has been made in the the trade secrets lawsuit between the peppermill and grand sierra resort. after a two week trial, a jury sided with the peppermill over the 8- million dollar trade secrets case yesterday. the grand sierra resort filed a lawsuit in 2013, against peppermill's corporate analyst ryan tors, after he was caught using a reset key, to gather information from g-s-r slot machines. state investigators found he also collected data from at least ten other nevada casinos. peppermill was fined--

mayor bob crowell took a look at the year's highlights yesterday. he says the city is getting ready to break ground on its downtown redevelopment project that will make significant improvements to the heart of the city, like widening the sidewalks to improve pedestrian safety in the area. we're doing the right thing, we're putting in the right infrastructure and it will keep the community spirit up and make sure that it will be something we're proud of 20 years from now. the widening project is set to wrap up in october. over the last year, the city added 11 acres of land for recreational use, and has increased revenue by nearly 13- million dollars. off at rye patch reservoir... we'll tell you the of why the fish are ending up dead. and the zika virus is getting talked about more and more... but we'll take a closer look virus from a local

does not develop properly, leading to severe physical disabilities. the mosquito-borne zika virus seems to be making basis. this morning the world health organization saying it's spreading explosively. local doctor--james wilson-- has been appointed to the zika response working group. he says the mosquito which carries the virus here in washoe county or the rest of nevada. weather here, and in many other parts of the country, the mosquito cannot survive long enough to replicate and spread the disease. however he says the virus is contagious. it can spread through sexual contact. if you are a man, get infected, you have virus in your blood stream, you go back home within that narrow window of time up to 21 days, you can potentially infect your spouse. and if you are trying to have that same risk zone. pregnant women exposed to the virus can
